'The proof is in the pudding' as the saying goes and Julie's sponges are second to non! I've never tasted butter cream that is so light and fluffy and her designs are amazing. Hooray! I made a discovery!…read more Bijou Vintage is a fascinating little vintage clothing, accessories, and jewellery shop on Mill Lane in West Derby. This place is sort of like the shops you'll find in Grand Central (Quiggins), but it seems to stock a lot more than some of those small shops. There are rails and rails of vintage dresses, skirts, and blouses in all different colours, fabrics, textures, and sizes. There is a LOT to see here! You'll also find tons of jewellery including lovely brooches, rings, necklaces, and more. There are glass cases of jewellery, and there are drawers and bowls full of rings that you can pick through. Everything is well arranged and tidy. This lady also makes her own jewellery and can do repairs on certain items if you just ask. :)

Lauren's Link is an organisation offering support to parents and carers of drug misusers and was…read moreformed due to the tragic death of 16 year old Lauren Rodgers, of heroin abuse. This tiny little shop is on Green lane and you can miss it if you aren't really paying attention. It is a lovely little shop and of course is for a wonderful cause. The volunteers who work in there are lovely too. They are very friendly and will chat away to you. I had no idea what Lauren's link was so I asked and was given all the info I needed. They were happy to answer any questions that I had about the organisation. Of course there isn't the diversity of stock that you get in the larger charity stores but what there is has been reasonably priced for what you get. They have alittle changing room to try the stuff on but I can't imagine there is much room in there as there isn't much room to swing a cat in the whole shop. Hopefully they will be able to move to a larger shop at some point once they have spread the word.
