Being a small recruitment office, they care about you and constantly ring you up with opportunities. Despite me notifying AH of this, I was bombarded with calls and emails about my prospective job hunt. A job interview was arranged without consulting me first (I even asked for it to be arranged after my return with minimum of 48 hours notice so I had sufficient time to prepare for the interview). I was late coming home due to my flight being cancelled and due to uncertainty of my return, I asked to cancel/postpone the interview but my request was rejected. That kind of behaviour is contemptuous and no decent agency/employer would treat their staff like this. I still have the emails to support what I have said in this review which cannot be disputed and I am happy to share with anyone who is interested. I remember having a reply back saying they were "shocked and upset" by what I had said. They were only shocked and upset because someone called them out on their unprofessionalism. Do yourself a favour and don't work with agencies. There are plenty of job opportunities in Manchester and it's relatively easy to get one without the "help" of an agency. I managed to find a new job without an agency within weeks.

It was boring, badly paid and only for a couple of months, but it gave me time to find something more permanent. And Sally would bring us M&S donuts every week, which at least made it seem like they cared about us a little bit. Since then I have applied for a couple of jobs through their website. One of which they said I was a perfect candidate for, and they were just waiting for desk space. Of course they never got back to me. Another time they called me about a job that I had the right skills for, but when I called them back half an hour later they had given the job to someone else. When I had a permanent-ish job they seemed to call me all the time and I got annoyed, but when I was looking for a job they never called me. Grrr. Basically, OT is a good agency to go to if you're willing to work for £6.50 an hour doing admin for a couple of weeks to a couple of months. Just be warned, like most agencies they speak in annoyingly high voices and don't really care about you once they're getting your money. Check your payslips and holiday pay carefully.

On the Friday I had the job interview. Mark was the agent who dealt with me, and he was quite different to every other recruitment consultant I've had the misfortune to deal with. He didn't feel the need to ask me how I was even if I'd spoken to him 2 minutes before, he didn't speak in a pitch 2 octaves higher than his normal voice. He even talked about football. Apart from the staff, the agency differs to others as it only takes a one-off fee from the company rather than stealing half of your wages every week. The agency also mainly deals with financial jobs which pay £50,000 plus, although there are a few which aren't finance related and which pay less and some which pay by the hour. More importantly, they give you bottled Evian to drink and the chairs are super comfy. Mark called me a few times within 24 hours to see how my interview preparation was going, to give me tips and to advise me what they might ask me. He insisted that I would give him a call as soon as I got out of the interview to tell him how it went, which I did. The only thing was, that was the end of my relationship with Mark. He obviously lost interest the second he was told I was not suitable for the position, but I thought the least he could have done would have been to let me know.

I was taken for granted and disrespected before I could have a chance to find out. Customers are "required" to "donate" $95 USD (or local equivalent) before you can even interview with a placement agent. I did this, then followed along with their requests. First my emails went unanswered for 10 days, then after a mostly unhelpful couple responses wherein my questions went unanswered, I then did not receive any communications for 17 days. At this point, it had been 2 months since I was contacted by Jobs In Games Limited offering their services and I had not yet been provided with a single job lead, nor had I been provided with another email or point of contact for anyone in the company but the secretary. When raising my concerns with the owner of the company, Adrian Smith (who had originally reached out to me to offers his services), after many emails of me requesting his help resolving issues in his company's communication, he continually pushed the blame on me while simultaneously admitting that his company has recently been experiencing email issues on multiple services. As I pressed to have my money refunded because I'm unhappy with the lack of services provided and the way he and his company have handled the situation, he called me an "arse hole" and blocked me on LinkedIn. I highly discourage anyone who is looking for a timely, communicative or respectful placement experience from working with Jobs In Games Limited.
