BB was helpful during the whole process and never left us feeling confused on what was going on. I've had several transactions with Busy Beever auctions. They're always quick, fair, prices are pretty reasonable, and they always answer my questions without any drama. I would definitely work with them again in the future. Also, gotta love that they round off on change for cash transactions. PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS IS VERY TRUE OF MY EXPERIENCE WITH BUSY BEEVER AUCTION. I HAVE SEEN THEIR RESPONSES TO OTHER NEGATIVE POST THAT THEY EITHER DO NOT KNOW THE PERSON POSTING OR THE PERSON IS WRONG IN WHAT THEY HAVE POSTED. THIS IS 100% ACCURATE. To say the least about Steve and Busy Beever Auctions, I am thoroughly disappointed in your service. Steve conveyed to me when I reached out to him about auctioning my parent's pristine, 100+ year old Danish made Secretariat that they take exceptional care in transporting and storing before an auction, and also the transporting to the eventual auction site. He said his appraiser valued the secretariat at an auction of between $1500-$1800 in Kansas. I have many pictures of the Secretariat before Steve came to pick it up and store it in what he told me is a temperature controlled area. After telling me the secretariat was even more beautiful in person than the pictures conveyed, before he left with the Secretariat, he and I both signed a contract directly next to the hand written statement saying it was in pristine condition AND was accompanied by one key for the lock on the glass door, the hatch which opens for a desk top and the two doors on the bottom of the secretariat. My parent's home is in Overland Park and the auction was conveyed to be at an "old money" home in Emporia and that my parent's piece would fit right in. That was a complete untruthful statement as the home was completely in disrepair on the outside and the pieces which were sold were just old this and that things selling between $5-$75, nothing of true dollar value which would bring in buyers for a piece like my parents. I arrived at the auction to see the secretariat sitting outside the home on concrete in 95 degree, extremely humid conditions. I went to look over the piece and the finish was separating in many areas all over the piece indicating to me that this has not been properly stored in a temperature controlled environment and certainly should not be sitting out in these hot, humid conditions, and there were chips and scratches, and one of the two lower doors was jammed in 1/2 inch from the other door telling me the handling of it was not careful nor professional. I gave Steve a piece of furniture which he agreed in writing was in pristine condition and when I pointed all these imperfections out to him at the auction he denied he had anything to do with these imperfections and after the piece did not sell he told me I needed to transport the piece back to Overland Park on my own. Further, when the piece was actually up for auction, the auctioneer had no idea what it was and simply said "and now we have this thing". No description indicating the age, where it was from, condition (or at least condition when I gave it to Steve) etc. This told me these people and this company does not have the experience and expertise to handle fine pieces of furniture and simply will treat a fine piece like any other average to below average condition piece. No care. And, as if that were not enough, Steve laughs to the people at the auction that he must have a whole in his pocket because he lost the key to the three locks. Besides the value dropping from a pristine piece to a now average condition piece after being in Busy Beever and Steve's care for 45 days, the missing key makes the rest of it not operable. I had to rent a U-Haul to move the piece back to Overland Park and all Steve texted me was he'd mail me the key if he found it. No mention that he'd make sure to get a locksmith out to produce a key if he did not find it. Since the June 24 auction, I have texted Steve many times asking about the key, I have called and left messages asking about the key. NO RESPONSE. Obviously NO CARE. After pointing out the condition of the secretariat at the auction versus the condition in which I gave it to him, the lack of a key, the lack of knowledge by the auctioneer Steve's reply was it's not his fault I did not get the price I set as a reserve. THIS POST HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME NOT GETTING THE RESERVE PRICE I SET AS I FULLY ACCEPTED THAT IF I DID NOT GET THE RESERVE PRICE I WOULD FIND ANOTHER AVENUE OR KEEP IT MYSELF. The dissatisfaction is a total lack of care or taking any responsibility for how he cared for, and left my parent's 100+ year old, pristine, burl wood, Dutch made secretariat, without a key, plus telling me I needed to move it back myself. I know after total silence to my calls and texts that Busy Beever and the owners will not do anything to right their wrong. The owner had a couple small items ( I was wanting) I close to the front of the line. ) they want before the sale, but then they need to take those pictures off of the their website in his pocket and handed the to a person that was farther back on the line! I was initially impressed with Steve over the phone. I explained I was cleaning out my sister's estate and she was quite the shopper. I have too many items for an estate sale (condo is full) and I rented a PODS in my driveway for the overflow items. When he came to the house, he was negative from the beginning, saying that everything I had in storage was "garage sale quality," even though I had several items still in original condition and packaging. To add insult to injury, he said, "You should have hired a dumpster instead of a PODS." What an incredibly insulting and disrespectful thing to say to someone who is grieving and overwhelmed. After he said books don't sell, furniture doesn't sell, household items don't sell, I asked what sells. He said "tools and guns." If you have any items other than guns and tools, don't bother with this company. read more

I meant to post my favorable review of Busy Beever Estate Sales soon after our sale was ended in May, but probably like most people I got distracted by other life activities. I consider myself a reasonable and not a high maintenance person with reasonable expectations and was very pleased to work with Busy Beever Estate Sales for my in-laws estate sale. As with any review, I try to determine what type of person is leaving the review and most of the time people are quick to leave negative reviews and are either delayed or forget all together to leave a positive review. I am not an Estate Sale aficionado, but learned from evaluating Estate Sale companies what kind of valuable items you have before they will even consider doing your estate sale and realized many companies only want to work with you when you have fewer/high-dollar items to sell. My mother-in-law should have been a professional interior designer with all the decor items she had available to sell. There were enough items to decorate three homes! Busy Beever Estate Sales was up for the challenge and maintained positive / open-communication with us and was highly flexible when suggesting we have more than the usual 3-day Estate Sale in order to ensure we sold as much of the folks items vs trashing or giving the items away. They worked on their days off to make this happen. We felt like the staff was an extension of the family in protecting items from being broken or stolen and not accepting some of the insulting offers on already very reasonable priced items. When an offer was in question they didn't hesitate to contact family members whether they were on property or by phone. Busy Beever is confident in their business that they have no issues with family being around. Once we all agreed the sale should be over, their clean-up crew was fabulous as we had a cleaned house for the next stage of selling the home. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but we don't hesitate to recommend Busy Beever Estate Sales. These are hardworking people with compassion and integrity not getting rich off other people's belongings. I wouldn't hesitate to work with them again! read more

I was verbally assaulted and cussed and yelled at because "Steven" was ready to be done with a sale. I came to the check out when asked, waited my turn, sat at the table with the lady in the yellow shirt trying to figure out the card reader that wasn't working as Steven started yelling and cussing at me- I told him he was being rude and to get out of my face or I was going to call the police- stood up from the table and dialed 911 as I was trying to leave the house as he was screaming and yelling at my back bumped me in livingroom as I was trying to leave the house- it was UNBELIEVABLE- I will never shop here again- unprofessional and a jerk that makes our world such a sad place. If this site would allow me to give ZERO stars, I would!! This company and it's owner (Steve) have been evasive, noncommunicative, abusive and untruthful with me for the past 7 months. I hired them on 12/5/2021 to sell my business inventory, packing/shipping supplies, warehouse shelving, furniture, appliances, etc. (see some pictures on estatesales.net) due to my becoming disabled. They have taken advantage of me and my situation, taking from me more than 2000+ items (purchase price amount over $15,000), claim to have sold all of my items, but have only paid me less than $1,400, and said they never took that many items from me despite my having pictures, receipts of purchase and witnesses to them loading and moving all of my 2000+ items. I even provided them with an itemized printed and emailed list of all of the items they took from me to sell. In turn they have given me a couple of makeshift invoices of sale with items sold listed as "books, games, lot of..., misc." with no itemization or quantities. All of this is in breach of their contract, and may be considered theft. PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELF, and don't hire or trust this company or owner. read more

In late May, we sold my mom's house fast, and I needed to find estate sale liquidators that would handle the estate sale on relatively short notice. I contacted two of the top rated liquidators in KC. One refused to do the sale because it was north of the river and wanted 50% commission. The other sent a rep out who rushed in with an attitude, glanced around and told me he was booked until August - oh then September, and claimed we needed a minimum of $25,000 in sales! What a waste of time! So I was relieved when I called BusyBeever.com and spoke to Steve. He came out the next day. He arrived promptly and got down to business. Their commission of 33% and 25% on selling a car is reasonable. Also their minimum is more realistic at $8K. I was ready to sign the contract to have the sale at the end of June. As we approached the dates, I was updated by Steve and the owner, Gabrielle when they would come appraise, organize and start setting up. During the month of June I had to move out of state, and relied on Busy Beever's employees to 'do their job' so I didn't have to worry about it. Also I had hired their clean-up crew, which they contract out. Although they normally need 48 hours, we were on a short schedule with the new owners moving in. So they only had a day. Fortunately Steve on his day off went over to the house to help the clean up crew remove the last remaining items and trash to ensure that the house was left empty and clean. This was very appreciated! Overall, Steve and his team, the clean-up crew led by Tammy and the owner, Gabrielle were easy to work with, trustworthy, knowledgeable in regards to sale amount appraisals, and got the job done in a timely manner. And the best part was they sold the car for above 'blue book.' Overall we were very pleased. For these reasons, I recommend BusyBeevers.com whether you are north or south of the river for your estate sale needs. read more

I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone. The owner sent his associate to give me an estimate on buying my estate items. The associate itemized my belongings and gave me a verbal dollar value of its worth. When the owner arrived he then determined that my items were in fact not worth that quoted dollar value and refused to give me the full amount. He was very rude and unprofessional. In fact the associate apologized profusely on his behalf because she was embarrassed about the way he treated me. If you choose to use this company it's my recommendation to have your quote in writing so the owner cannot just change his mind about the worth. read more

I attended one of their sales two days in a row. The man at the desk was rude the first day when I attempted to add up my purchases at the same time he was adding them, He told me just to add them myself. The next day he was adding my purchases very fast and I asked for clarification on an item. He actually got mad and appeared to be put off by my lack of understanding. I told him I needed his addition to be clear as it is my money. he shouted at me that no one tells him what to do and that he is an adult. His outburst was unnecessary and frightening. My husband and I had a very good experience with the Busy Beever Company. They were extremely hard workers and very organized. They worked tirelessly the day after Christmas and New Year's Day to make sure the house was prepared before our closing date. The owner was always available before and during the sale and she and her staff were very plesant and mindful of the care of our home. They put product down to the protect the high traffic areas and had staff stationed on each floor for security. This company came highly recommended by a friend and they did not disappoint! read more

Only reason I gave one star is because I couldn't figure out how to give zero. We had an auction 3 weeks ago or 14 working days ago and still have not received our money. Owner says the check was mailed on the 10th working day, per the contract, but the post office must have had issues delivering. Honestly, her response is just as sketchy as the whole process leading up to and at our auction. I would not recommend them to handle a garage sale let alone an estate sale or auction. They bragged on an average attendance of 175 people and we may have had 50. I personally spoke with some of the bidders that commonly attend auctions and they were not impressed...most had not even heard of Busy Beever. Toward the end of the auction there were no Busy Beever employees following the auction so know one knew what they won or how much...they were not even bidding against each other because there was not enough competition. They would discuss amongst themselves who wanted what and low bid. They also tore up our yard and after 3 full weeks we are still waiting for them to repair, along with picking up the remaining tables and trash. We chose them because they were the only ones that could fit us in quickly and that was our fault, we should have known better. My recommendation would be to not go with them or any company that can fit you in quickly. This is an emotional process and you should take the time to research reviews, ask for numbers to call previous clients and digest the entire process before making a decision. Shame on you Busy Beever for taking advantage of bad situation, death of a family member, and making it worse! I posted a a previous comment about this company a few months ago and it is not seen so I want to tell you about my last experience with Busy Beever. I go to almost all of their sales. I like them. They know me when I come in. I am an addict when it comes to estate sales and i go to a lot of them. Not all are created equal. Busy Beever is one of the very few good ones out there. I have never felt like i overpaid. If something is priced high, it is probably because i don't know what it's worth. I have seen some very rude customers over the years and I don't know how they keep their cool, but they do. I like these people. They are honest. High prices! My husband and I went to one of their "sales". There were about 3 items that had reasonable prices and those items were already sold. My husband found a tore up 1970's Betty Crocker cookbook with a $10 price tag! Another patron and I were joking about the high prices when I was asked to leave. As I was escorted out of the sale I was told how disrespectful I was being to the sick and dying owner. Ha! Like I was the one price gouging to make MY profits higher! I would not recommend this company in the future. Unfortunately, I reviewed other information (testimonials and Facebook which were positive) before choosing the company. the individual that came for the initial consultation gave me a sale amount about $6000 for my items. He was patient and kind ... He said they were here to help me through this difficult time. the individual that came to sign the contract was less positive and age me reason to pause but I chose to use the company anyway because the female owner was kind polite and said they were here to help me. In preparation for the sale, I was told not to worry they would come in and take the things out of my attic, sort, stage and price everything. They assured me more than one time that they would have no problem getting items from my attic and garage organized. Once they arrived, they charged an extra cleaning fee that was in the contract but not discussed (slipped that one in). The female owner had called me on the phone and stated that it would be a lower rate than what it stated in the contract but in the end did not honor her word. They were rude to both my son and my mother who were present during the preparation and the sale. I was not available because a new job had taken me to another state. During the preparation time they let my dog out and then just left the house. That is like letting someone's 3 year old out to wander the neighborhood. Luckily, the dog returned safe once my son came home. they complained often and profusely about the amount of "work" they were needing to do. Claiming the items were "filthy" and there was rodent issues. I lived in the house for 15 years and I also had been cleaning and sorting prior and other than minor dirt, dust and issues that occur when boxes and storage items are not moved, there was not a major issue. They did not end up getting all the items from the attic. I can not say if they followed through with advertising and promotion. But, what I can say is that they did not reach the $6000 marker and did not sell many of the big items. According to those present, some items were priced too high while other items were priced too low. There seemed to be no real consistent pricing. I am left now with repeating the process with someone else because more hate half the items especially large items are still sitting in the home. I have since learned their rates are higher than necessary. They charged 47% when they agreed to 45%. The original contract said 40% with a 7% charge for cleaning although the female owner stated in a phone conversation she was "going to help out and only charge me 5% for th cleaning". She claimed she did not "recall" the conversation. I have since learned that others have been charged 30% and 35% (from other companies) and I currently have a gentleman selling the remaining items for 20% charge. Overall, not satisfied. Felt they were rude and have integrity issues. Not sure why the owner listed here is the gentleman that came initially out because throughout the process we were told that the female is the owner. I don't know maybe because he is so rude (she is much more polite,just lacked some integrity in honoring her word), they are trying to re-brand. She is a much better "face" for he company. Such an unfortunate encounter today. Went to an estate sale held by this company after attending 5 other estate sales today. As is the case every week, my four-year-old was with me for a treasure hunt. I have been doing "treasure hunts" with my kiddos for six years, and I have NEVER encountered such rudeness in those 6 years. When we entered the small home, my son went straight for a table where he picked up a small plastic folding clock that was $1. From that point on, the gentleman that appeared to be running the sale was watching us closely. At this point, I told the gentleman that he did not need to be following us around, and that I was watching my son. He continued to be agitated that my son was in the home and told me that if my son touched one more thing I was going to be asked to leave. After an exchange of words, I turned around and told my husband we were going to leave. This is when the gentleman began to loudly state "please exit the building." Maybe this is an attempt to save face. Irregardless, I take my kiddos on these fun treasure hunts on a weekly basis, and not one other estate sale company has ever had an issue with my kids in the home. I believe the assumption is always made that if we break something, we buy it...not to mention, estate sales are a place to pick things up and look at them. My son had chosen to pick something up that was trivial, of very little value and something he was thinking of purchasing with his own money. Absolutely no reason to treat a customer in this manner. I will not be returning to any estate sales held by Busy Beever. I stated this to the gentleman to which he said, "good." What an unfortunate statement to make and lack of concern for good business as I know many moms with children that enjoy estate sales as something fun and unique to do. Not only did they lose my business, word-of-mouth about poor customer service spreads quickly among other moms. read more

We had a very bad experience at a Busy Beever sale last weekend. The items were not priced and there was a sign saying they would negotiate on all items and there were "bottom dollar" stickers on some of the larger items. We found a stereo and speakers in the basement that had no "bottom dollar" sticker, so my husband went upstairs to make an offer. The man in charge said$250.00. So my husband said that was a lot and how would we know if it worked. The man said we would just have to take how word for it. My husband answered, "I'm not going to take your word for it for $250. For $50 I'd take a chance on it." And he came back to the basement. The man followed him downstairs and an argument began, with the man insisting that since he has to take his clients word for it, then we would have to take his word for it. My husband said that was a ridiculous thing to say. The man responded with a statement that implied that my husband was rude and ignorant. Things got louder from there until the man threatened to "remove" us and stood in the living room yelling "get out." We will not be going back to a Busy Beever Estate Sale. read more
