Not the best patisserie chain in Istanbul but absolutely one of the good . Pastry, cakes and sandwiches fresh and delicious but I wouldn't recommend the other listings on the menu even though they have acceptable taste. read more

Honestly, to feed the whole group, you only need to order two Turkish breakfasts because there is SO MUCH food. Seating was quick with very friendly service. Restaurant stretches two building, bathroom is downstairs and clean. A few outside seat options ideal for smokers. Lots of locals with a few tourists too. Accepts credit cards. As mentioned, it's a lot of food. Standouts included the menemen, lightly fried balls of dough enjoyed with fresh honey, yogurt, and strawberry jam, cheeses, olives, and dips. Honestly everything. Probably one of the two best Turkish breakfast I've ever had. Definitely enjoy Turkish tea with your meal. The easiest path to enjoy here is to simply get the set and try some of everything. Experiment and find what flavors you like!
Very clean restaurant, service is great and with much hospitality!

This adorable little joint is sheer perfection, we did two Michelins while we were in Istanbul and I still think about this place and remember it more than my Michelin experiences. It's so simple yet so unique and perfect at the same time. The breakfast spread is one of the most memorable I've ever had, though simple and straight forward, the Turks truly know how to do an incredible breakfast that's better than the rest of the world. If you're in Istanbul, come to this place, the walk up to the joint is lovely, you get to see such a special little part of Istanbul and the food experience is something you'll remember for a lifetime. The service is top notch and the ambiance is adorable, facing the cute little street outside. The meal starts with tea and the spread is truly incredible. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!!

We had just finished circling around the grand bazaar about 1500 times and this place was a mere 5-10 min walk. The decor is really funky and unique. There's an indoor portion and an outdoor portion, mostly situated in a balcony-like structure. There are very colorful cushions and equally colorful tables to match the surrounding adornment. Service was amazing. We were seated immediately and started on drinks and hookah in no time. Our server came and checked on us frequently but not frequently enough to make it annoying. This place was perfect for insta snaps and we took quite a few of them. Thankfully, our garb was unintentionally flamboyant and we fit right in. The drinks were good, both from the eclectic cocktail menu as well as the classics like screw drivers. We dipped our toe into quite a few different drink categories that night because the service was good and the hookah was kept fresh. We stayed there long enough to become hungry and ordered the meze sampler. I don't remember details besides this being very good. By the end of our evening our crisp and fresh insta photos became rachit and grungy snap stories by the end of the night. The hospitality was overt, they didn't mind us literally taking up residence basically for about 6 hours and offered us blankets once the weather became chilly and rainy. Long story short this place is a must visit on a trip to istanbul

The food tastes great and the table setting is very appealing. The restaurant itself is very cute. Reminds me a bit of Alice's tea cup in NYC but Turkish style. Tea is unlimited here and they have it on the table. It kinda made the table warm though. The grandmas at the front and working in the place are so cute and sweet spreading flowers and kisses to people coming in. They also offer you an assortment of jams when they see you're done eating. The waiter was extremely helpful as it was our first time and the whole crew are just on point. A must visit restaurant if you're visiting Istanbul and looking for a breakfast/brunch place.

The eggs were served in small individual pans( for one ) and we were three people. we had to ask for things to be brought and they forgot one even though they would say it would come up right away. We would not have minded paying if they served what they were supposed to serve. They are definitely cutting corners on the food items!! The price was too high for what they served. The waiters were too busy socializing than attending tables. One waiter was rolling a cigarett tobacco for a table!!! Just totally different from what they used to be. Never going back!!!

It is a little hole in the wall place, but they serve up a traditional flavorful dish a bit like seitan basically. I have been going to Zencefil for years but last time I was there was about 4-5 years ago. The restaurants has been keeping its style, quality for many years. Even the menu looks like the same except for a few new dishes depending on the season. There are several kinds of vegetable quiches such as eggplant, spinach, etc. The nice think is that before the meal they serve butter mixed with herbs accompanied with bread. There were two kinds of bread; with corn flour and whole wheat. However, the bread could be better, I didn't like the whole wheat bread. I can make batter breads and I am wondering why they do not make their own bread adding different kinds of herbs and vegetables. Although it is a vegetarian restaurant, there one or two chicken dishes on the menu. Since there wasn't so much change on the menu for years, I have already tried most dishes which were OK. I mean the tastes are nice, not heavenly but you know that all of them are healthy. This time I had warm served Aegean stew made of artichokes, faba beans and black-eyed beans. It was so light and tasty, I really like it. I had homemade ginger ale for a drink but frankly saying I didn't like it maybe because I am used to Canadian dry or other brands. But I recommend its lemonade with ginger. I hope they add more experimental vegetable recipes on the menu next time. At the end of the meal they always serve coriander and some dry herb to refreshen the breath which I really like. Lastly, the ambiance is nice, bright, colorful and the place is mostly full of young people and tourists during lunch hours. The service is not bad but I wish they smile more...

The tomatoes were unbelievable, the walnuts were some of the best I've had, and every plate felt thoughtful and vibrant. It's the kind of breakfast that reminds you how simple food can be exceptional when the ingredients are high quality. Ambiance: Beautiful setting on a quiet street with a clear view of the historic Galata Tower in the background. The space is clean, cozy, and welcoming. It has that warm, tucked-away charm that makes you want to linger a bit longer. Location/Getting There: Be prepared: it's an intense uphill walk from the Karakoy Ferry Port. There is a cable metro that takes you up, so it's worth finding if you want to skip the climb. Once you're up there, the area is great and the walk becomes part of the experience. Reservations: We were able to go without any issue, but it's a popular spot. If you're planning a weekend visit, a reservation wouldn't hurt. Price: About $100 USD for four people. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it--especially considering how fresh everything is. Prices across Istanbul have gone up in general, and this felt fair for the quality. Service: A+. Friendly, attentive, and warm. I went with my cousin, who is a regular here, but even aside from that, the service was excellent. You can feel they take pride in what they do. Overall: Cafe Privato is a great find with amazing food, a charming atmosphere, and a unique location. Five stars all around and absolutely worth visiting. I highly recommend it.

This turned out to be a regrettable decision as it seems nearly everyone in Istanbul smokes, it was raining outside, so that meant people were smoking in the covered patio. Made enjoying the meal difficult but I don't fault the restaurant for that since, well, practically everyone here smokes. Food was really good and lived up to other reviews. One thing I felt was odd is the prices were written on with a wax pencil. It made me think there were two versions of the menu, a local, and a tourist. Don't have any proof of that but not having fixed menu prices seemed odd. Maybe it has something to do with fluctuations in food supply pricing but this was the only place in Istanbul we ate at that had this kind of hand written pricing. Staff was friendly and, again, the food was quite tasty. Portions were decent but not generous. Everything was fresh. I'd recommend this place for sure but heed the warning on smokers if you sit outside and, like me, can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke.
