The office is modern and clean, the admin staff are lovely and professional, they are always on-time (sometimes even early!), and Dr. Yap is the kind of family doctor I've always wanted but never had. Dr. Yap is thorough, taking a complete health history of her new patients and always updates your health information during yearly physicals. Since becoming her patient I have had two babies and she is wonderful with them. Their vaccinations/injections are always done quickly and with no complications, and my 3 year-old enjoys going to see her whenever we have appointments. I definitely recommend Dr. Yap and Yorktown Family Medicine, especially if you want a younger doctor with whom you and your family can grow.

My first visit comprised of the following: TV blaring (very loudly/hyper program on), not conducive to a wellness environment, and ice on the ramp - not salted - HUH? Really 'great' for people with muscular-skeletal issues. Second time I went back (to pick up my orthotics), they turned off the TV and salted the ramp (snowy day) - not asking too much. Figured it was over, done. Got my orthotics, bye bye. Today I received an unsolicited e-mail from them (mass-mailing, obviously) which had the word (in caps) "IMPORTANT announcement" (on the subject line), and several "urgent" (in bold) throughout the e-mail. INAPPROPRIATE!!!!!!!!! When one receives an e-mail from a medical clinic and the words "important"/"urgent" are on there, this is not calming ... or relaxing ... or "well-making". Someone obviously had a lot of time on their hands to create this somewhat in your face, super-duper "important" e-mail. I could not even unsubscribe from this nuisance. I left them a voicemail message telling them to take me off - never want to hear from you again! There are interactions and experiences in life which simply do not leave one with a positive impression and this was one example. My opinion!

From experience, the doctors are good here but I'm not a fan of how the receptionist runs things. In the past, I would wait 10 mins max. I'm not sure what happened. My family doctor referred me to this clinic because of my chronic lower back pain. They have a chiropractic teaching clinic which I attend. There is a last-year chiropractor resident supervised by a supervising chiropractor. Supervision includes verbal review and video cameras in the treatment rooms. The charge is $100 for the initial assessment. A formal treatment plan is created. All treatments after that are free. You must be referred by a family doctor within the St. Michael's Hospital network.
