I learned of this establishment on Yelp. I was really excited to try them. I finally got around to it this week for lunch! They are opened from 11 am- 4 pm but closed on Saturday. I didn't like the fact that their menu isn't functioning on their website nor is it available on their social media pages. Are you kidding me! When I called to place an order , I was told their menu was on Waitr.... cool. The young lady who I spoke with was extremely nice when I called to place my order. I wanted the short rib grilled cheese but they were sold out . I settled on the beef Philly cheese steak sliders . As I was heading to pick up my order, I received a call informing me that they were out of the beef Philly cheesesteak sliders. Yep, out of those too! They had chicken. I went with those since I was running out of options & they closed at 4. When I arrived , I waited a little bit but it was ok . Since it is curbside only, I remained in my car so the wait wasn't bad. My food was brought out to me , I paid and was on my way. I was pleased with the service and the food. Covid regulations were in effect with the wearing of masks by the staff. I'm not a huge cheese fan and these sliders were loaded with cheese! The chicken was grilled and seasoned to perfection!!! The mushroom , onions and bell peppers were sautéed nicely. Oh and I can't forget about the fried okra!!! Excellent!!! The portion sizes are very generous. (As you can see in my pics) I am looking forward to trying their soul food Sunday menu! Bayles is a restaurant we stubbled upon driving through Alabama. What a great find!!! We stopped by yesterday, I had the best Omelette (Southwestern omelette) I've ever had. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger. Boy when I tell you each bite was a slice of heaven it's not saying enough. Mine came with a side so I got the cheesy grits yum yum good! The two ladies that helped us were so friendly, they made us feel at home. This is a wholesome place where you can get breakfast and lunch until they close. Their prices a reasonable as well. My husband and I were leaving the next morning but before making another stop here to get our grub on. Today I got the Fried Pork chop breakfast and my husband got the Chicken and Waffles, yum-yum good!!! Man you have to try this place y'all!!! Bayles moves locations and now has tons of room for so down meals. They specialize in comfort food. On weekdays they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast was outstanding omelets with potatoes or grits and toast are just $6 and a breakfast sandwich is $2.50. They are closed on Saturday but open Sunday for soul food. Plate of incredible ribs and two sides was $12. The ribs just melted off the bone and the meat was incredibly tender while the sauce was flavorful. Best ribs in Birmingham. While their new location had chairs and they serve "for here" food on a plate the silverware is still plastic. I'd love to see just a few upgrades in that area but just an amazing place for comfort and soul food in Woodlawn! read more
