Free! Other than that, nothing really good about it. Crabby drivers who apparently hate their jobs.

We stayed in the Guest House. It was exactly what we were looking for -- comfort, peace and quiet, but working internet. Felt very welcomed by Eva and Colten. Yummy welcome treats were an added bonus. If you are in the Guest House, plan on taking a bath instead of a shower. First-class bathtub, but the shower curtain will invade your personal space otherwise. Would absolutely stay there again if "in the neighborhood." It's worth a few extra dollars compared to just an average motel.

It's delightful, comfortable and quiet, and it's just a few minute drive to the south shore of Lake Superior (and the awesome artesian well water available 'on tap') and a 25 minute drive to Bayfield, WI. The town of Ashland itself is sleepy and quaint, and sports a great co-op, a tasty bakery, and a wonderful coffee shop, not to mention the variety of shops along the town's main street (not the busy street running along the lake shore, but one block further in). Note: the owners informed us that they're going to stop serving morning breakfasts (next year, I think) because it's simply too much work for them (Tina, mainly) when Brian is away all week working his full-time job at a school three hours' drive away.

There comes a point in your daily life that you forget to slow down... to take joy in the simple…read morethings... to take a deep breath that you didn't know you needed to take... That is what Second Wind offers 100 times over. My family, which consists of 2 adults & 2 teenagers: 15 & 17. There is NO TV! It was the greatest thing EVER. We actually spoke to each other, watched the night skies, & played with Mr. Ollie (Oliver) & kitties: Sassy & Sweet Pea. Not to mention the sweet donkey's. We stayed in the Northern Lights loft. It was tastefully decorated with country chic/wilderness ascents. The beds were comfy. Most importantly, the room was clean & no speck of dust/dirt could be found. The bath tub was absolute heaven! It felt like home. We built a campfire outdoors 2 nights. We roasted marshmallows & made brats with the roasting sticks that were provided by Kelly. The fire ring had seating surrounding it for every one & more. Mark hung out with us the first time. The second night, all of the guests, Kelly, & Mark too, were at the fire. We all hung out around the fire & had s'mores. Pretty cool to sit & talk to others in a welcoming, not pretentious environment; no stress. Kelly puts the H in hostess. She would make maps for us with how long it takes to get there, helped us select things to do, & took us on a river walk with waterfalls. My kids & I slid down one on our butts like a slip & slide; EPIC. In closing, Second Wind was exactly what my family needed. If you haven't had your breath taken away by the beauty of the night sky, been greeted by the sweetest Airedale pup, tried to gain the affections of a sassy cat, or had the opportunity to meet some sweet animals, I highly recommend it. My family will return some time sooner than later. We made memories there that will last a lifetime!

Loved the thick red and black "lumberjack" towels, all the sturdy fixtures, comfortable beds and furniture. Mark and Kelly, the proprietors, live on the premises and were very responsive. The inn is in a rural area about a half hour from Bayfield, Wisconsin. There are several horses and donkeys and some cattle on the farm, A dog and two adorable cats. Quiet, peaceful, rejuvenating place to stay.
