You can't miss Cafe Del Sol as it is strategically well placed on a major roundabout. It seems to have achieved some sort of cult status for Sunday brunch, but my experience was an early evening one. I was shocked by how popular this place is. Deservedly, I think. I was particularly impressed by the fact that artificial flavours, etc for all dishes are list towards the back of the menu. I have not come across anywhere before where MSG was identified! Another pleasant surprise are the ultra-modern and hygienic Dyson hand dryers in the toilets. Staff were a bit overworked but extremely friendly. This is a family-friendly place without completely giving over to kids. Somehow they succeed in offering something for all ages, tastes, etc without succumbing to the lowest common denominator. And once you're inside you also forget all the traffic nearby.

Apparently, there is a reservation system for tables - for a town of about 100,000, a university town, with not many up-scale places to have Saturday morning breakfast - although the prices are moderate. This year there was just under 20 of us at the hotel. The big negative, that loses this hotel a star, is the lack of air con in the rooms, and there's no ceiling fan either so it's roasting in there during the heat of the summer. During our most recent stay we were in a ground floor room (a 'superior double' which cost a bit more than the basic room) so we weren't able to leave a window open overnight or during the day as someone could've easily climbed in. There's also no extractor fan in the en suite bathroom so expect some steaminess! Other than that, it's clean, comfortable and has free wifi. The bar prices seem reasonable, and they serve some nice chips!

Our server was polite and helped us through the menu, since we do not speak German. The breakfast meat and cheese plate with bread was delightful and he added a hard boiled egg as a side.
