i've been here for both 6th and 7th grade and i don't like it here there's always drama, bullying,…read morestuck up girls that are rude and the rules are sexist, and racist lol pls don't go here just move somewhere else and i hate the dress code too like why are my shoulders distracting who's gonna go "OH WOW YOUR SHOULDERS WANNA DATE" and the supervisors too they'll snatch your weave if they find out you have airpods in like your weave will go FLYING ‍ the food is moldy too, eat up and online version is even worse teachers will literally call parents because of assignments. don't you realize that some people's parents will beat them because of grades? and also the fact that they will not believe anything if it's about internet issues like i told my band teacher that smart music didn't save and he didn't believe me and blamed it on me like WHAT so, if you have a choice i would avoid it here

First and foremost, the school doesn't call the parents when anything happens until after 7:00 PM…read more Which is a major problem , anything can happen to my child within those times! school will be responsible! Anyways, my child was targeted by staff. A staff member tried to tell her that her parents don't love her. Another staff member made a snide remark. SOME of the children (Mainly white) will make racist remarks at kids of color. Staff gets told and does nothing! She was harassed by the male staff including the male principal. he also retaliated when we took to the board. she would stand up for herself against staff by recording herself and or calling us (parents) they could be heard yelling at her and telling her she has no rights at all and that her being uncomfortable with only men in a room while being searched and told to take off clothing is okay and that she doesn't need a female present or for the doors to be open. despite her having multiple witnesses, they still targeted her. I don't recommend any child of color go to this middle school. she had been dealing with this for over 2 years.

My daughter Tiresa has an IEP and has faced a lot of academic challenges throughout school…read more(Whittier Elementary). She also has a strong speech impediment, and as she got older, she started to notice the gap between herself and her classmates. It began to take a real toll on her confidence. As a mom, it was heartbreaking to watch. But everything changed this past school year, her final year in 5th grade, when we enrolled her in the ELOP after school program with Scholarly Minds. This program didn't just keep her busy after school. It challenged her with attainable goals, built her up, and helped her see herself in a new light. Slowly, a new Tiresa began to emerge, one who was proud of herself, confident in what she could do, and willing to try new things. She won multiple awards, grew more independent, and even told us herself that this was her best year ever at school. That moment brought tears to my eyes. To Ms. Melissa and the entire ELOP/Scholarly Minds team: THANK YOU. Thank you for seeing the greatness in my daughter when she couldn't see it herself. Thank you for cheering her on, literally and figuratively. At the graduation ceremony, I kept hearing loud applause and joyful shouting from behind me every time one of the ELOP students walked the stage. When I turned around, I realized it was Ms. Melissa's team, cheering as if every student were their own child. That moment said everything about who they are. You didn't just change my daughter's academic path, you helped rebuild her spirit. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making such a beautiful difference in my daughter's life.

The school has an excellent front desk staff that work hard to solve all needs. The school has a few academic staff that work hard to help the students while others do what is required only, same goes for yard duty staff. Also the school has a EXCELLENT crossing guard that makes sure everyone is safe.

We love this school!! I have had all my kids go here and we have had many positive experiences…read more Just one example, Valle Vista Elementary started doing a "lunch on the lawn," where parents can come on campus and have lunch with their child. Our family has really enjoyed participating in this event. The front office who organizes it does such a great job. There's fun lawn games to play with your student and great music playing. I love this event! It allows us parents to connect on a different level with our kids in their own peer environment. Thank you Valle Vista for being so amazing!!

I'm 22 years old and I was once a student at Valle Vista. I used to love school and be really good…read moreat it and many previous teachers saw so much potential in me. That was until I had Mrs. Mason. She was my fourth grade home teacher and she made my last two years here a living hell for a 9/10 year old. It started when she threw an item which hit me directly in the eye and I had to see a school nurse. I don't remember much but I remember even more punishment followed. I told my parents what had happened after school that day and what followed that was even worse. My parents tried to push a law suit. My eye was bruised for a few days afterward. The law suit failed but during the battle, I was harassed all up into my fifth grade year. I wasn't allowed out for recess, had to sit on the "red dots" the whole time. I would be held in to redo tests that I finished. I was constantly in trouble and I gave up in school. Completely. Fifth grade I was fortunate to be placed into Mr. Van Zee's class but because of what was going on with Mrs. Mason I was pulled from his class and placed in Mrs. Mclambs class who was in turn very close to Mrs. Mason. The same treatment continued and as the suit kept on, so did the harassment. Mason would follow me out to the place I would wait for my mom to pick me up after school and have snide comments that ended with "are you going to go tell that to your mom now or what?". What teacher says this to a 9/10 year old? Traumatic. That whole entire experience was horrible. The suit never saw to the end because of personal things that came up that needed to be handled but the worst part is this effected my future school performance through high school. I hated teachers and performed very poorly. It's now that I'm in college I can find the motivation and trust to be able to feel like I can do well in school. I'm 22 years old and this happened about 12 years ago which still haunts me and angers me to this day. This is all I've ever wanted to say. Thanks for reading.
