Did learn about a new drink though--called "Fish"--which is a mixture of ice tea and vodka? My friends who were drinking it seemed to like it, so I'll have to try it one day when I'm feeling better. This placed was filled with the after-work crowd in suits, and the outside was already filled with smokers. My friend and I were able to get a nice corner inside by the window to sit and chat while enjoying our drinks. They really pumped up the music around 8 pm, and it got really crowded, so you practically had to shout to talk. I was starting to get a stuffy head and decided to bail early. It's definitely a nice place to hang out and decorated with cozy, plush seats. Didn't try any of the food here, but other people's plates looked (and smelled) pretty good. Will have to give it a try some other time.

I can read Korean but I wouldn't be able to tell you what the meaning of that sign is--it's some kind of slang that I'm not familiar with. It was closed at the time but I could see through the windows that it was a pretty cool place, with funky decorations and art. I vowed to come back, and a few days later that's exactly what I did. It was around 6:30 so it was a young, hip-looking after work crowd. I thought it was pretty funny that I was the only Asian in the place and I was a tourist. There are some other Korean signs sprinkled throughout, like to the bathrooms and stuff. You order at the bar and they bring out your stuff to you. They have a pretty good happy hour menu--the food prices are a downright bargain for Zurich. I got the currywurst plate and a beer. I was chatting with the very nice bartender and I asked her what the significance of the Korean was, and she said that one of the owners was Korean. Oh, ok, mystery solved. I parked myself at one of the tables by the windows, which were cracked open to let in the night air and cigarette smoke from the patio. I enjoyed the currywurst plate very much; generous portions and it had a very nice spicy sauce accompanying the tender little weiners. The big puffy papadam pieces (like a deep-fried Indian tortilla) were a nice accompaniment. All in all, a very cool place, one that I wouldn't mind visiting again--for happy hour, of course!

Since we moved to Oerlikon, we started more and more to have brunches and dinners in Chayenne. The…read morefood is great and it always seemed very fresh. The atmosphere is very joyful and, unlike many Zurich places, it is almost always populated by young (and noisy) people, who want to have a good time. I find this very relaxing. There are also available seats at the bar and often people are standing as well, since big groups of friends joining after work is a common view there. The strongest point of the place is, in my opinion, it'a brunch selection. On weekends, you can serve brunch until as late as 4 pm. Try their omelette, it is delicious! (I got the New York one). Also, they serve breakfast combos (i chose the American and the Swiss one), which are very expensive (up to even 30 CHF if I remember well), but they are worth it! The combos are enough for two people and they are very diverse. I would be happy if they offered more drinks as included in the combo though. However, be prepared to pay Zurich prices. It's an expensive place, but I never regretted spending money there. Enjoy!
