The place has an admittedly strange vibe and is definitely a dive bar. In terms of music, the bar plays whatever the bartender/anyone-who-stands-behind-the-bar feels like playing, so it can be the weirdest of combinations. I've never seen the bar packed - it's usually filled with just a few people chatting, drinking beers and playing board games. That's right - the bar has a wide assortment of board games you can choose from. My friends and I opted for an unexpectedly exciting round of Jenga, which went on for much longer than expected and attracted the attention of most people at the bar. The bartender was a super relaxed, friendly and welcoming who made us feel right at home. As a bonus, the place has PacMan, Darts and foosball for entertainment.

All it took was leaving hunting-themed pictures on the walls, using a beautiful wardrobe as a liquor cabinet - and there you have it. The place is impressive from it's sheer size: you feel like you're in a saloon. Though the place still goes by the old name (although there are no signs to be found), it already attracts a very talkative, open and international crowd to this little-known part of Rixdorf. Personally, I love the ambiance, complemented by a wonderful staff of bartenders and waiters that are laid back, yet good at what they do. If there ever was a bar in Berlin that I would call my own, this definitely would be it!

If the cheapest prices and a bog standard Pils are what counts, you should probably give this place a miss. If however you like the idea of 9 beers on draught and more bottled, then this is definitely worth your time. You can taste before you order if you're not sure: on this winter evening I tried their spiced ale "Lebkuchen" (not to everyone's taste); Wet-Hopped IPA (which was so popular it sold out before the end of the evening); and finally a very good Irish stout wittily named "Schwarzfahrer". It's not large and filled up by 8pm, so might be an idea to reserve a table or get here when they open. No sign of food other than crisps. We'll be back. Beer heaven!

Top notch establishment. I loved this place…read more I went here on the recommendation of a couple of friends and I couldn't have been happier. This place is huge, even by American standards (hey, we are big people). There was a good variety of beers on tap and an even better selection of popular bottled beers. The drinks were all surprisingly affordable and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The owners went out of their way to put on the football game we requested and accommodated our large group with ease. I considered never going home. Do yourself a favor and check out Flaschenzug.
