Baue has been the funeral home of choice for my family for decades. They have always done a great job from start to finish. Most recently as soon as we learned of my great- aunt's passing, I went up to the home to get boards to make her memorial photo boards and they were ready immediately. This Cave Springs location is beautiful and is fully staffed to direct visitors to the correct room. There is also ample space for refreshments in a place where family can go to decompress and children can feel more comfortable away from the main viewing room. Today we were there to attend the wake of a neighbor. Not only does my family trust Baue, but most of my friends and acquaintances also choose them as well. Sadly, I have been here more times than I can count in addition to their location on Kings Highway in Saint Charles. Can it be expensive? Yes, but you get what you pay for. From the beginning of my dad dying in his living room unexpectedly to the end Baue was a nightmare. They couldn't come for 3 hours to get my dad. And my dad was a normal size man. 6'3 and 200 lbs, they come 3 hours later while we have to see my dad just lie there dead and sent two ladies under 5'5 who weight nothing. They had to get the police to help, who were grown me . Then their EV van breaks down in my driveway, where my dead father sits. They call us later and arrange times for us to meet and tell me we will meet with Jennifer. We come and it's a man named Andrew who did everything he could to make us spend a ton of money even though I told him what my dad told us he wanted. Andrew had us sit there for hours waiting on him to make all these statements of different ways to get more money from us. We never met Jennifer. We ordered two death certificates, we had to pay for them and we were told we would get them when the doctor signed off. They sent one to the I srua ne company without telling us, asking us or even allowing us to make a copy and send it. The life insurance paperwork stated a copy would suffice but Baue took it upon their selves to sent it. When they finally cremated my dad 3 weeks later because they claimed the doctor didn't sign off, they refuse to tell me when we could get their ashes. They had me driving from one building to another ad. Gave us an assistant. This little assistant lady kept telling us she was not comfortable telling us when we could get their ashes and they will call me when they can. I had to give my name 43 times and number because they couldn't tell me anything ever. That's all I was ever told. And they gave me emails that were wrong when I was sick as hell, they made this whole process horrid. And after I got my father's ashes they sent me a coupon for 600 off for someone in my family if we plan in 6 months how disgusting is this place. I went today. This is a beautiful place. The lobby and the chapel were packed. The memorial flowers are wonderfully shown with all the name-tags of who sent them. And many, many picture tributes, including a heart-felt poem he wrote about his father, who preceded him in death. The seating area is large to accommodate all the funeral attendees. Funeral guardians (I don't know what else to call them.) directed us to two different sign-ins . . . there were so many people there! And all a fabulous tribute to this great guy. My wife, Marie, lost her Mom, Ruth Orf last week and I had the opportunity to see firsthand how the entire Baue employee team members made us feel special during our loss. Words cannot express our gratitude for Milton, Pam, Kasey, and John Baue to soften the blow of Marie's loss and their unwavering support towards my wife. I was additionally touched by Kasey and Pam's attendance at the church service as Marie is an employee. This shows the support of the management staff towards their employees of this great organization. Milton's professionalism and compassion during out experience was very evident that helped prepare the casket for burial for the burial. It was performed in a superbly dignified manner. We initially had a bad experience regarding communication and almost moved to a different funeral home after consulting local relatives with experience using both Baue and other funeral homes. After complaining in person, we were introduced to a more experienced, professional, and caring funeral director, Dustin, who worked with us to resolve the initial dispute and to provide a better experience. Dustin followed up with me afterward to notify me that one employee in particular whom we'd had an issue with is no longer with the company. We had my grandfather's funeral here this week, and everyone was so pleased and touched by the whole process. The staff was sensitive, thorough, and clearly very experienced. The room was full of my grandpa's favorite candy for the visitation, and they played his favorite jazz music over their speaker system. They expertly handled the coordination between fire department (grandpa was a 24 year veteran), Air Force (Vietnam vet), and family. The whole process was so smooth, and my grandma now wants to have her funeral here. That's a sign of great service. read more

I just had the worst experience with this place. My father recently passed. Without my authorization, I was added to their email list. In a time of grieving, I just received an unauthorized email asking for me to vote for them in a "Best of St. Charles County" contest. Aside from the fact that my personal data has been handled illegally, I can't believe that they would send grieving people emails just to solicit votes for a contest to further their marketing efforts. It is completely insensitive, hurtful and above all, unprofessional. They get my vote for "Worst and Most Insensitive Funeral Home in St. Charles." read more

I have been to Baue a few times over the years and I am always impressed with how professional their services has been. They seem to be the ones for funeral needs in St. Charles. Their center has many rooms to be able to host a few families at a time. Its very welcoming, staff greeting you upon your arrival. They are willing to help both the families and the visitors of the families who are there to grieve. They also have, or use to have, a billboard that was about drunk driving that still to this day reminds me of them as I'll never forget that billboard. read more

My review is simply from an attendee of a memorial service. The grounds are very well kept and the parking is very close to the funeral chapel. When you walk in you realize this is a class place. The decor was warm but not over the top. The staff were very friendly. The staff during the memorial service were very organized and professional. Funerals are typically uncomfortable events but this venue provided a comforting atmosphere. read more

Bad coordination between the funeral director and my family. They told us there wasn't any available times for over a week when we needed I have a service quickly due to family availability. It wasn't until I called another provider and told Baue that we were going with another home that they suddenly realized availability opened up. Calling a funeral home is about the worst thing you'll ever have to do. They have one shit o get it right, and this place didn't deliver. read more
