I am really impressed with the meat selection here, tri tip is one of my favorite cuts of beef ever and they had like four different marinated styles of it.

We spent a nice late afternoon at Dawning Day Farm. This family-run farm has such a warm, homegrown charm. Wandering through the farm stand, I found heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, zucchini, and peppers, all grown right there. The harvest feels real and fresh, not like some giant commercial operation. The farm team clearly takes pride in their work. Come fall, the place becomes something special. There's a pumpkin patch where kids (and grown-ups) can pick out pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, and a corn maze that winds through the fields. I'm not a fan of corn mazes so I skipped out on it. I also loved how the farm keeps things simple and family-focused: a little train ride, farm animals, and open space to just sit and soak it all in. Prices feel really fair for what you're getting. Vegetables are sold by the pound or individually, and even the corn maze is modestly priced. So sad I didn't get another bunch before they were out of season. There's no hidden "admission" for the farm stand. Just visit and pay for the items of your choosing. If you're looking for a place to slow down, enjoy fresh produce, and soak up that old-school farm feel, Dawning Day Farm is it. Bring a friend or your family, grab some corn or pumpkins, and just enjoy being outdoors.

Easy to find, plenty of parking, and the friendliest farmer family! The pumpkins prices were very reasonable and they had quite a variety to choose from. Maybe they don't have a bajillion activities to do or farm animals to pet like some of the other places around here do, but we didn't fight traffic or stand in lines or pay for entry either. Besides, it felt good supporting them. Little boys in their work boots, talking about the different kinds of pumpkins I ogled over; a tent with hand crafted items and fresh produce; it was great and I highly encourage anyone who is looking to support a really sweet family of farmers to put Dawning Day on your list of places to visit. Just a small ways up the street, they have a permanent stand for fresh seasonal produce too! Loved it here, can't wait to come back next Oct & see what all they will add!

The meat at the grocery store pales in comparison. We used to use another farm (non-Angus) and the beef just wasn't as tasty and also a lot tougher, regardless of cut. I appreciate that their beef is raised naturally on grass pastures, free from pesticides, hormones, antibiotics and GMO's. I always knew that grass-fed was better for you, but never could really articulate why. Plus, we could not really afford to buy very much in the stores. Their website does an excellent job of explaining the benefits of grass-fed (both for human health and the environment) and, we discovered that buying in bulk lowers our per pound cost significantly from buying it pound-by-pound in the store. I found them by just Googling, "grass fed beef Vancouver Wa" years ago when I was not happy with the farm we were using (which by the way, no longer raises beef). I'm so happy I did.. I believe the owner told us that they had been raising Angus for about 10 years (so, that would be about 12 or 13 now), and that they were really learning how to dial in and get a good result. I can tell you, *whatever* they are doing, it's excellent. I highly recommend using Basket Flat Ranch for your beef. It's awesome to support local farmers too.

In the late summer, early fall the fruit and produce is abundant! Juicy peaches, plums, cherries, the last of the blueberries and blackberries, rhubarb, eggplant, tricolored peppers, and beets fill the stalls. everything so colorful and delicious. Was excited to happen upon the Catnip Takeout booth filled with the most adorable handmade, felted cat toys that of course contain catnip. The owner gives you a takeout box and you fill it with the toys of your choice. She had veggies, mushrooms, hearts, eyeballs, bees, round balls, fruit- all adorable! since my house is very spa like with shades of cream, gray and blues, I was excited to find so many options in these colors. My cat immediately began batting the ball around the minute I gave it to her! The nursery here is the biggest and best I've ever seen at a Farmers Market. The variety of plants was impressive and all were healthy and thriving. they also sell sun catchers, perfect for inside a window or in your garden - every garden deserves a bit of whimsy imo. Lots of food carts serving a variety of cuisines. some are within the market, several more line the street on the outside of the market. The gyros caught my attention, the scent of grilled lamb everywhere. it didn't disappoint! I ordered the mega traditional which had extra meat so I could have half for lunch and the other half for dinner. Love that this market is open both Saturday and Sundays until 3pm April through October. Saturday they open at 9am; on Sundays they open at 10am. Parking is on the street, use parking kitty to pay. On a Sunday at 12:30 I had no issue finding a spot close by.
