Great beer and friendly service. The Flume is a delicious crisp IPA. I'm not a stout person, but the Owl one is very tasty. I love trying new beer and Battery Steel did not disappoint.

One of favorite breweries. Love the staff and the set up. Beer and gluten free beverage options. Love that we can bring our dog. Great place to grab some local take out to bring, sit, relax and just hang.

Great little brewery, and I definitely recommend making the trip, as it is surrounded by other breweries in walking distance. Went to five that day, and Battery Steele was the smallest but probably also my favorite with respect to beer quality. (Bare bones in terms of decor/frstivities/games, but that's fine by me). I brought a couple home with me, and both were well received. On that note, I think I'll have one now... Parking at the breweries in the area, with the exception of Allagash, was limited. Car pooling is thus recommended, or better yet, an Uber. With all the spots to try, you'll probably end up drinking a little more than you may have intended anyway!

    Love them all!

Every single time. Every single time I go to this spot I love it. Every single time I take a 4pack or two with me. You won't go wrong with any of their beers, service or environment. They also play some super cool old school music which I especially appreciate. All precautions are taken and guidelines are followed.

Hold the phone- puppers allowed, food truck on some days of the week, AND bomb ass beer?!?? Wat! This place has it all and our little labradoodle Grimm loves it too! You won't be disappointed in anything on draft here. All the IPAs are consistently fresh, juicy, and diverse in terms of flavors. They keep their draft list smaller than other breweries in this area, but in my opinion the more refined their taps are, the pickier they are, and the better quality beer you'll get!

I love living in a city that houses good, quality craft breweries. However, because there are new breweries popping up all the time, it's sometimes challenging to keep track of all of them, and it's hard to seek out the ones of quality. One Saturday, a group of friends and I decided to commit to some day drinking. At a friend's suggestion, we started our venture at Battery Steele. They had about eight beers on draft. I was able to try their Avalon, which was one of their IPAs. It was juicy with notes of peach and other fruits, which was refreshing. However, my friend had ordered the Lark, which has a description of waffle, granola, and maple syrup notes. I tried a sip of his beer and I was instantly regretting not getting a full pour of Lark. The inside of Battery Steele feels very industrial, but very laid back with picnic benches throughout the venue. The exterior of the brewery is filled with beer tanks, giving it a relaxed vibe. Having gone at 1pm, it was fairly quiet, which was added to the chill vibe. Overall, Battery Steele is a great addition to the Portland beer scene. I will definitely go back and get that full pour of Lark!

Definitely a great stop if you're hitting all the breweries in the area. It's a little small but they have some yard games- and it's around 4 other places so it's easy to hit all in one day. My husband got the beer made with coffee and it had a strong coffee flavor. My IPA was great as well. definitely recommend

Good beer! Battery Steele usually has 2 or 3 drafts and cans, when available. Juicy, big IPAs are their standard brews and recently released an "ice cream" stout that drew a big crowd. The music playing was similar to elevator music so that's one area that could have been improved from my visit. It's worth giving a chance if your in the Riverside area.

    Chanda R.

Tried two of their beers and loved it. What's makes this brewery so unique is that is so closes to three other breweries. This was the last stop on our adventure and we loved tasting Battery's beer. It's on the back of the industrial building so if you do visit make sure to walk around the parking lot. Your mouth will be pleased.

Couldn't resist taking some of this liquid gold home!

Excellent beer. Rude service. Horrible attitude. Very very sad experience once we saw the shaking dog in the corner by the beer tanks.

One of their most popular…read moreDouble IPAs, called Swish had a new special Triple IPA version brewed called Super Swish. This beer release brought my wife and I for our visit today. As an IPA fan I enjoyed this new version very much for its hop saturated citrusy forward taste that drank quite smooth for the 9.5%. At this point now Bissell is broken into two separate parts. The first will be the space welcoming to families and is more of their restaurant style area. Appeared to be a popular area and does offer reservations. My preferred area is the Bissell Garden as they call it. Those entering need to be of drinking age and have more lounge vibes where you order at the bar. It still offers full kitchen menu so is perfect. Particularly my favorite is snagging bar stools to grab some beers and food. I had to try out the Super Swish while my wife grabbed their red ale named Turnpike. Then food wise we split their kitchen special Classic Poutine. Some of the best classic kept simple poutine I have had. The perfect comfort food for yet another cold weather day in Maine. Have been impressed by all the food from Bissell. Truly the only negative still stands being the fact it's on Thompson's Point and required paid parking (not Bissell Brothers call but still). One of the most popular Maine breweries for a reason especially in the IPA game. Give all their other style of beers a try too though, top notch brewery!

My friend and I split a few appetizers - the mezze plate (falafel, hummus, veggies, pita bread), the honey barbecue chicken wings, and fries. The portions were very generous and everything was tasty. Not exceptional but definitely good quality and quantity for what you pay for. My vodka seltzer was also very good - I got the strawberry lemonade flavor and it was light and refreshing. On the side of the restaurant we sat on, you order your food at the bar but it gets brought out to your table. Service was prompt and friendly. All in all a good experience!

If you were unaware Austin Street found their start with their original location in Industrial Way Portland area alongside lots of breweries in the area. I believe my first visit and taste of their beers was around 9 or 8 years ago. Once this location opened up it became the go-to for visiting Austin Street as it's updated and honestly nicer. I enjoyed their first location but let's be real this space is more unique and larger! Been to this spot many a times including earlier today. They still have an industrial feel to the place but have so many plants all around to brighten the spot up. Inside while beautiful I must say the true highlight is during warm weather with their large garage doors open. It also adds tons of additional seating to enjoy the weather too! Staff is always so friendly and ready to pour your drink with a smile. Beer wise they have a large variety including IPAs, pale ales, lagers, and sours. Including a special release each year made for International Women's.For non-beer drinkers don't fret, you can find wine, ciders, seltzers, cocktails, and plenty of non-alcoholic options. They also offer some snacks and frequently have food trucks/carts serving as well. With a lot of events scheduled too, including today that was a Summer Puppy Pool Party so as you can tell they are dog friendly. One of the many amazing breweries in this area of Portland. Well made beers with enough options for everyone to enjoy a drink even non beer fans. A place that supports many good charities/causes and hosts lots of events.

They nail the IPAs and all variations of them but also can do every other style very well too!
