The proprietor, Norman, was very kind. Ask to see his taxidermy collection.

Great spot, good service, clean and great big white fluffy towels. No smoking rooms and include a kitchenette.

The Cambridge House - The "Blue" Room

Very nicely and thoroughly restored property from ~1910 in a cute, well-placed town for recreation…read more The Weiser River bike trail is just a short walk away, and it's close to the Snake River. Sheila, the owner/manager, is friendly, warm and helpful. She also cooks a fantastic breakfast to carry you through any hike or adventure nearby. Definitely a place to visit multiple times!

Sunny summer days, cold winter nights - all is well at the Cambridge House Bed & Breakfast…read more This is our fourth time staying at the Cambridge House, and so I feel like I can finally write a thorough review. Let me first say, I'm not generally a fan of B&B's. My generalized experience has been that I feel like I'm intruding on all of the stuffed animals that have taken up residence in a bedroom. Being a man, I generally feel out of place and confused about where to sit, and what exactly I'm allowed to touch. In the case of the Cambridge House, I actually feel like I'm at home. The house is beautifully appointed and recently renovated, so it has all of the charm of the 1916 Craftsman that it is, without all of the pains of scalding water and creaking walls that I've come to expect from older homes. There are many cozy nooks in the house and finding a nice place to read a book is a true pleasure. Breakfast is prompt, tasty, and simple and the proprietor, Sheila, is a gem. It has some nice modern conveniences like free WiFi that make it easy for me to get work done while up visiting family. There are five lovely rooms, some pictures of which I have posted here. The rates are ridiculously reasonable. In short, if you're in this part of the world, this is the only place worth staying within 100 miles. We've been coming up here for almost ten years to visit family and we've tried every hotel and B&B within that distance. This is without a doubt the finest accommodation in the area, and is in a beautiful setting with some nice walks in all directions. Highly recommend anyone traveling through, or looking to get away for a quiet weekend. You won't regret it!

He was very kind and upfront and showed us the room first. He also apologized saying that he didn't know how recently it had been cleaned and there may be dust. We pushed to stay. It's our fault. He said that this room (9) usually goes for $70 but he was charging $40. That being said. This room is worth $10. It's cleanish but the door has bedroom door lock that can easily be kicked in. The carpet is stained (though not gross so that's a plus). This room has a new toilet installed. However, the sink is absolutely insane. The sink vanity is rickety and would probably break if you put the smallest bit of pressure on it. I was washing my hands and water started pooling onto the floor. I opened the sink cabinet to see that the sink plumbing is loose and every time you turn on the sink, water pours out of the pipes. This issue was being solved with an old, very moldy cut-off gallon jug, which was placed under the pipe to catch excess water. The water that was pooling at my feet was overflow from the jug. I had to empty the very brown water and replace the now empty jug under the sink. It was very gross. I also had to limit my sink usage after learning that it was a ticking time bomb. Again, the owner was very nice. And he didn't even want to give us a room. It's just that this room isn't ready for any guests and probably wouldn't pass a health inspection. I didn't even try the shower. I think that this motel could be fixed up to be very cute and I think that the owner, who recently started working on it, will make it cute. But for now, I'm a little unsettled. It could be way worse though.

I don't like dirt and grime. I don't like walking into the bathroom, turning on the sink faucet and having my feet immediately drenched because there was no pipe under the sink. (Yes, I'm serious). This place would be cute and funky if they cleaned it up. As it is, it's just cheap and depressing.

I've (apparently) never before been compelled to write a review of the place. But now I am. Is it because of the functional condom machine in the bathroom? No, I already knew that. Is it because they serve 60 ounces of french fries with every lunch? No, I knew that also, and have asked for a to go box just so I could eat them in the parking lot in order to hide my shame. No, the reason I'm finally writing a review is because I stopped in for lunch and had the best goddamn Philly cheesesteak I've ever had in my life. Steak was moist and tender. Onions and peppers were great. Cheese was excellent. None of that cheese whiz trash. And it came with 3 pounds of french fries.
