My mother signed up for their service in Oct. 2025 it is now late Jan. 2026 and they have not even come out to spray the yard for weeds yet, while her neighbors that use other services have had their yards treated . I had Bates for exterminating and lawn services. The exterminating was good, however the lawn service killed a lot of my lawn. they hired a new person to maintain my lawn, he sprayed the wrong chemical on my lawn and two others lawn on my block. I called to speak to Mr. Bates twice and received a return call from a supervisor he told me to read my contract. I DO NOT recommend their lawn services. I have turned it over to my lawyer. Their service and their customer service is pathetic. They stand by their technician talking about GPS....I was home!!! They barely steps on your lawn and claim they did a full service when they didn't, and they will believe the technician and not the customer. I have a camera !! Maybe they do a good job of pest control, but they also do lawn care, and they do a terrible job of that. Every service was done by a different person, and they're not well trained at all. I never knew when they were coming. They leave a receipt that doesn't way what they did, and when I call the office, the person answering the phone doesn't know and I have to wait for the technician to call. We have had Bates as our service provider for a while now and they have done a great job, last week we noticed a few bugs in our garage and in our bathrooms, we called Bates and our service Tech. Keith came out today (Monday) and he really did a fantastic job of spraying to take care of this problem. Very courteous and professional. Don't contract with them. I contracted for the last several years, and finally decided to cancel because they were not fulfilling their contract. Weeds everywhere. I called several times to give them a chance to make good. They didn't so I went with LeeCo. After 2 weeks, Leeco killed all the weeds that Bates could not seem to do after several complaints. Bottom line ... they would not reimburse for 11 months of non-service for terminating contract. They are not a good company to choose ... go with someone else! read more

Now Sarah tells me no refunds are given and once my service is canceled all conversations are ended and I'm no longer a customer. If you are looking for a company that NEVER responds to your telephone inquiries, this is the one. Over a period of a month and a half, I have a person named Jack and a person named Rob Wilson. I paid in advance for one year of service, once every three months. For a one year . At the end of the contract I decided not to renew because there was no difference in the quality of my lawn. I still had a ton of weeds in my grass. Now supposedly they came and sprayed my grass after the year was up. I didn't receive a notification on my door that they had even been here, nor the little sign in the yard. Nor did I ask them to spray after our contact was up. But they insist on charging me for a service I didn't ask for , and didn't receive,and now it's been sent to collections, oh I will be hiring my family attorney to handle these crooks and put them in their place. Reading other reviews I see they have done this very thing to other people. Don't be afraid to hire an attorney people because they will be paying my attorney fees and court costs. We bought a house and the previous owners had a contract with Bates for a year. We were informed from that their contract was paid up for year expiring in 6 months. We all assumed that the contract would be transferred and continued. Bates would not continue the service. We did not have for the previous owner,so Bates pocketed the money. I only give them a two star rating simply because they show up every other month after a phone call reminding them. Bates lawn service left me with a bare patch on my large corner lot and weeds everywhere throughout the two properties I own in Del Webb Spruce Creek. Supervisor Troy gave me lip service for the first year of prepaid service and like a fool I prepaid a second year. He promised me I would be his showcase yards since I have 2 on the same street. He. and Bates failed miserably! I cancelled service for the remaining month and asked for a refund (for that month only) to which Ruth Ann told my wife they don't do refunds and she no longer needs to speak with my wife because she was not a customer of theirs then Ruthann rudely hung up. I run a respectable repair business in Del Webb Spruce Creek that is 5 star and I will never recommend this ineffective company. I suggest people don't just go for the price, your yard will suffer and you will be pulling weeds by the dozens daily. I went from the nicest lawns to the worst on my street thanks to Bates ineffective service. call them for rodents and nothing else. I called Bates for some termites I found, and they didn't answer the phone, left messages, took a month to get ahold of anyone. Then when I finally got them out here, they were late and had no idea what to do. It's dollar weed, kill. Well it got out of hand and they couldn't figure out how to fix it. And then they charged my credit card twice. And then they wouldn't fix it. I fired them and got Terminex, dollar weed is gone! Bates is awful, the staff is awful, and the management is the worst. I will never call them again. I have told everyone on every site I have an account with how terrible they are. Do NOT use BATES. Don't use Bates Exterminating! We called Bates Exterminating due to the sound of critters in my attic was waking us up at night. Jack from Bates came by and diagnosed the problem as mice. He sold us a contact for $395 which guaranteed the removal of the mice and a guaranty that Bates would guaranty service to keep them out for a year. After days and weeks of the noises getting louder, I called Jack at Bates. He refused to even set foot in the attic as he insisted that it was just mice. He did offer to come by and throw loose poison in my attic but then I would be responsible to get the decaying carcasses out. He promised to send somebody out to check the outside traps but that never happened. After 2 and a half weeks, I called Truly Nolan. Bill from Truly Nolan went in the attic and saw that they weren't mice, rather they were rats. I contracted with Truly Nolan and the next day the rats were totally gone and the house was sealed off. I attempted to get some money back from Bates Exterminating to no avail. Bates Exterminating did not do what they promised, the rodents were not removed by Bates nor was their one year guarantee honored. My multiple attempts to try talk to the owner through their office to find some middle ground was left with nothing but frustration. The owner was never available and never returned my phone calls. Although Jack from Bates insisted that what I described above had never happened to anyone else, I did find an amazingly similar review posted on Yelp by John K. on 3/4/15. In fact, there are no positive reviews for this company on Yelp at all. I am writing this review so hopefully other people are not exposed to Bates' business practices. Bottom line: Don't use Bates Exterminating. They do not know what they are doing, they are lazy and do not stand by their word. Truly Nolan is a much better choice. read more

I LOVE Bates Exterminating!!!!! I just moved to Florida to begin my retirement. My first order of business was to buy a home. Research told me to be sure I did a termite inspection on any home I bought in Florida. I did but the report came back stating no inspection could be done on interior walls due to furniture. Well... There was no furniture and then on all outside walls due to vegetation. Well....there was no vegetation. I called to see why the report was so off and was told it was just a mistake! Then I felt uncomfortable with the qualifications of the inspector I used!!! I called five more before I found Mr. Bob Bates! He educated me an told me the owner should always be present for the inspection. This I sures you get one and allows you to see how thorough it is. I hired Bates exterminating and guess what!!! He found termites! He also found them in the second home I found! He saved me from expensive repairs. He costs $50.00 more than the man I hired first but oh.....is he worth it!! You get what you pay for!! He is so good and reliable I also hired him for termite prevention so it is not an issue going firward! His attention to detail and insiistance on being thorough is rare and welcome! He is so worth the money!!! read more

Representative blames everything for the bad appearance from the sun, the moon, insects, water either too much or too little, the sod quality itself? I am disappointed with the services that I received from Bates Exterminating. After a cursory inspection that really didn't amount to much other than a walk around the property and a peak into the attic, it was determined that I had an infestation of rafter rats. Okay with that. The next day six bait boxes were installed outside and as far as I can determine, over the period of one month plus, they were never checked to determine whether or not the bait was eaten and needed re-baiting. I have since hired a new rodent exterminator who has already provided me with a detailed inspection and report, plus a reasonable estimate of cost. That contractor plugged up all identified entrances from the outside into the attic, and installed metal screens over the rain downspouts and all pipes and vents that are located on the roof. I would have thought that Bates Exterminating would have done something similar. I feel that I did not get my $295 worth of services from Bates - in fact, I'm sure that I could have bought what is probably the same rat poison at WalMart for a fraction of the cost that I paid to Bates. read more
