Cute little cookie and ice cream shop we discovered on an evening stroll through downtown San Luis Obispo. It's tucked away on a side street and if you aren't looking for it, you might miss it. Loved all the design elements, many of which must be original to when the building was first built. Almost throws you back in time. There were 4 cookie choices and were even displayed by the window facing the street but we completely missed seeing them when we walked up. I believe there were 8 ice cream flavors to choose from as well. I was in the mood for a chewy warm cookie and my husband, ice cream. I got a large, thin, oatmeal cookie and he chose strawberry cheesecake ice cream. We enjoyed them both as we continued walking downtown. The cookie was the perfect amount of chewiness and not crumbly. Despot it being thin, there was a perfect balance of the brown sugar and oatmeal flavor in every bite. Did not miss having chocolate chips or raisins in it either. I wish I had bought two!!! The ice cream was very creamy and a nice subtle cheesecake flavor. The strawberry flavor came from actual pieces of strawberries on the ice cream. The service was pleasant and the ambiance was calm. Perfect way to top off the evening stroll! read more

Batch is such a gem in downtown SLO! You can choose your own cookies and ice cream to make an ice cream sandwich of your liking. They also do regular scoops or cookies, sundaes, milkshakes, and floats. Their ice cream is super fresh and absolutely delicious! Probably one of my favorite ice creams around. The Batch Shop in Downtown SLO is not just an ice cream shop, it also offers milkshakes and homemade cookies. Moreover, they also have indoor tables to enjoy whatever you purchase. They sell a small selection of little souvenirs, such as shirts and tote bags as well. The ice cream sandwich is an ideal substitute to have the best of both worlds. The fun part is that you can make it your own way with your favorite dessert. So far we have only tried the fudge and the chocolate chip cookies. They were amazing. I regret not trying all four of the cookie flavors because I could have gotten them at an inexpensive price. Not only was it delicious but also very reasonably priced. We had one cookie in the LAX airport that cost about six dollars plus tax. It didn't taste as good, maybe because of the price. read more

Gave me a paper straw for my milkshake and no lid. There's no room to sit in there or barely even stand.

We drove by this spot on the way into SLO and made a mental note to try. The cute little red door caught our attention and the positive reviews on Google also brought us in. We stopped by on a Thursday around 3 PM in the afternoon. The door was open and while their hours noted that they open at noon, the staff said they were barely opening up and do not have the cookies ready. We were asked to return 15-20 minutes. When we returned and placed our order, 2 out of the 8 flavors they have were out of stock. Given the smaller quantity of ice cream flavors, couldn't help but be disappointed. Cookie was fresh out of the oven and still a bit soft/gooey and both were just okay. read more

OMG these are the best ice cream sandwiches ever! We had a Salted Caramel ice cream on fresh made crispy oatmeal cookies The caramel in the Salted Caramel ice cream was amazingly soft and warmer than the rest of the ice cream. I have no idea how they can make it like this except that it must be super freshly made too. We found Batch after dinner. They offered to cut the ice cream sandwich in half, which is such a great service. Both employees were happy that we came in, and answered all our questions about the local made ice cream. Something about Avila... maybe made in Avila or also available in Avila? These ice cream sandwiches are made to order. They place a full scoop of ice cream on the cookie before topping it off with the other cookie It's huge and so yummy The ambiance is so cute and inviting with classic honeycomb white and black tile floors and backsplashes. My daughter and I popped in randomly after walking by. I got a sandwich with vanilla ice cream with chocolate chip and fudge cookies. My daughter got birthday cake with both chocolate chip. Ice cream was fluffy, cookies were crispy outside and chewy in the middle. Girls behind the counter were friendly and the atmosphere was kinda old-timey fun.
