STOP...do not use this service!…read more Initially, he completed the tasks that I have requested which started with a diagnostic of my 5 year old laptop (inexpensive one to start with). I agreed to the $125 fee to have it checked out and he found viruses and gave me 3 estimates for the old lap top including upgrades to the memory and hard drive. all three exceed the cost of the laptop when I bought it new 5 years ago. Obviously that did not make sense so I found a few new laptop options online and he provided an estimate for a new laptop for about $1000. I found the same one for about $200 less but he offered to discount the $125 fee and help install and set up the new lap top. I agreed since for $75 more, I did not have to deal with the set up myself. He always meets at Starbucks in Frisco since he does not have a office . Seems strange but I agreed since it was a public location. All went ok with the set up and new lap top. I had to do some other stuff for the set up but I figured it out. I thought I was DONE. Then he sent me additional 4 invoices for 8 hours of work that he supposedly did on my old lap top which I had never requested or approved. He would text and email and request payment and referenced their contract etc. As I type this BAD review...he continues to email and harass me!

The "not having an actual office" part (he said he works out of the post office??? and meets people there???) was also a bit sketchy, especially when someone asks you to leave your $2600 computer with them, not being able to nail down a quote for what I did actually need, and the aggressive pushiness and overselling just kind of gave me some red flags, so I didn't go with him. Maybe you'll get a different vibe and have a great experience, but my intuition said something wasn't a good fit for me and I found a perfect fit elsewhere with people that actually listened to my needs, and weren't pushy.

I had Gavin replace a cracked screen on my laptop. In his defense, when I called to see if he could…read moredo the work (I found him on Yelp) he did say that he doesn't usually do retail work, but would do it for me. I received the laptop back and the backlighting on the screen was clearly not working. I have several of these same 15" retina display macbooks. I happened to be going down to Apple that day for a completely different reason. I had them look at the laptop, as I was hoping for an easy fix. The said they felt the screen was faulty, the diagnostics indicated there was a hardware issue with the screen. Gavin felt there was not an issue and in his words, "that's like like telling a painter you are dissatisfied with the color". There was CLEARLY an issue, I could barely see the screen. I asked Gavin to put my cracked screen back on. He did, and charged me $50. I think Gavin is right, that he needs to stick to servicing businesses, and as a business owner myself, I would be weary of someone who doesn't stand behind their work.
