The owner works the laundromat. He's very friendly and helpful. Keeps the floors clean, and the dryer is free of lint. Highly recommend.

Water was cold in all machines. From one of my machines the clothes came out absolutely filthy and I had to rewash them.

Is it odd to review a laundromat? Yeah, probably. However, this review is to my fellow traveler!…read more You won't always be at a hotel with a guest laundry, or sometimes anywhere that seems to have laundry options at all. Sometimes you're in the middle of nowhere and you have to travel 20 miles to use a washer located behind a bar for twice the going rate. Therefore, when we accidentally came across a reasonable coin operated laundromat, I had to add it for those who would be on the lookout. This coin operated laundry is unmanned, though there is a business card with contact info to the one in Ruidoso taped to the door. It's maintained as relatively clean with most of the machines being in good working order. Located off the main road, to the left of the Smokey Bear Historical Site, they are in the back of the hair studio building. Based off the size of the washers, $2 per load was pretty reasonable. It would have been better at $1.50 to $1.75 but I had been charged $3.50 at another place a week before. I did feel I had to use an extra 2 quarters for an extra 10 minutes on the dryer compared to others, but that is based on towels and sweaters and jeans. I really couldn't complain. Especially since clean clothes and a shower are what make us feel more human after long hours on the road! They are open 8am to 8pm Monday through Saturday and 1pm to 6pm on Sundays. They have a change machine and a machine with detergent and fabric softener for $1.25. Both regular and commercial machines are available but I didn't see any wash & dry combos. There is a restroom, patio chairs for relaxing, a little lending library of free books, a handful of carts with working wheels and two giant tables for folding. Most places let you down with gouging prices, few or broken carts and not enough folding space, but this one excels in those areas. It's not the most glamorous place to spend an afternoon, but it was pretty pleasant compared to what you could end up dealing with elsewhere. I recommend!

So I use this place often because I live in Capitan BUT it's pretty ridiculous. Half of the dryers…read moredon't work or only blow cold air. Can't be sure that your clothes will reach the spin cycle. Change machine is down a lot. You'll be sure to ruin an item or two in the washers that I suppose are never ran through with vinegar. I have at least $15-20 coming to me but the owners don't seem to be in too much of a hurry to help. And now not opening til 8am is the dumbest. Place sucks all around. But like I said, i kinda have no choice but to use this place because I don't have my own but they could at least clean the place and have appliances that are worth a crap. The last owners were amazing! Wish the still owned it.

OUT OF SERVICE should be the name of this place. If you look at the photos you'll see little white…read morepieces of paper on almost every machine that says "out of service". The sign said attendant on duty, there was no one there. Dark, dingy, dirty floors & cobwebs... Like the machines, most of the light bulbs are out of order too. It was a hot day, and there was no air conditioning. I paid a visit to the restroom, and it was worse than the rest of the place! Dirty, splatter everywhere, dirty floors, no soap, no water! This is the creepiest, dirtiest laundromat I've ever seen. Ugh! It reminds me of a line from an episode of the Jerry Seinfeld show, "when did you stop trying, when did you just give up?"

Soap-N-Suds IS HISTORY!!!…read more In it's place is now Greenway Laundry I was recently passing through Truth or Consequences to hit the Walmart for some supplies and I needed to do laundry. Having been there and done this in the past a few times in my travels, I knew that there are only two coin-op laundromats in town, and neither were particularly well maintained. When I pulled up to the one located at 1804 S Broadway Street, I immediately noticed that the building had a nice new "facelift" which identified the building as Greenway Laundry. I parked my truck/trailer off to one side and went in to check it out and to make sure it was ok to park where I did. Bob, the very cordial owner greeted me at the door, I was pleasantly surprised as I looked around. Bob explained that he and his wife, Sharon renovated the facility less than a year ago, and I have to say they have done an amazing job. They have replaced most of the washers and dryers, and the new units are state-of-the-art energy efficient machines, and the entire facility is very well maintained. Both Bob and Sharon are down-to-earth and good-hearted individuals, willing to help their customers when and how they can. I can honestly say, they go over and above! Without exaggeration this is truly one of the nicest laundromats you will ever find, not to mention great owner/operators!!!
