I wholeheartedly wish that there was a North 40 outfitters store in my native Southern California…read more But as my younger brother says whenever we visit, this place could not exist like this in SoCal. It's sort of like if Lowe's, Home Depot, Bass Pro, Tractor Supply, your favorite fly fishing shop we're all rolled into one store, with only the best parts manifested in the aisles. And that's to say nothing of the saddlery, garden center, farm supply, and livestock sections, to name a few. The service here from every member of the staff borders on annoying, but in the most positive way... Everyone on the floor, asks you if you need assistance, but they don't pester you. One of them I've ever connected with is knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile to not only make the sale, but make you happy about it. On a recent trip, my son popped a hole in his waders-- not a great thing when you're standing waste deep in 30° alkaline water. The gentleman and the fly shop went out of his way to help us find a pair that fit him, and honored the clearance sale price to get him a $400 pair of waiters for under 70 bucks. More recently, the same kid a year older needed a pair of gloves to endure an unseasonable cold spell that had hit the area. One of the nice gals on the floor, explained that they were switching over to spring, but went out of her way to help him find an inexpensive pair of gloves to keep on fishing. Incredible selection, nothing locked up behind security glass like we have in Los Angeles County, and did I mention the cute little baby chicks of every variety? They don't travel on the airplane very well, but if I had a piece of land up there, I'd have chickens all over it because of this place. Hands-down, this is the best outfitter store I've ever visited, and that's saying something. We visit Mac once a year for Fishing, and no trip is complete without at least a few stops at North 40. We may not be frequent visitors, but we're customers for life.

If you're looking for a tractor and want a place that actually feels like a small, local business…read moreinstead of a big pushy dealership, I'd definitely recommend Tractor Co. The owner is a genuinely kind guy who really knows his stuff. There's zero pressure and no high-sales vibe at all. It feels much more like a mom-and-pop shop than a typical dealership, which makes sense because it basically is. The owner has been there a long time and clearly cares about the business and the people coming through the door. I originally went in because they specialize in refurbished Japanese tractors, and the selection was honestly impressive. It's a great option if you want to save money and get a reliable machine without paying for a big fancy brand-new model. That said, they also carry new TYM tractors, and those are pretty compelling too if you're in the market for something new. Overall, a really positive experience and definitely worth checking out if you're shopping for a tractor.

In May of 2014 I contracted with Skone Irrigation to complete a landscaping project in my back…read moreyard. Much to my dismay the project was plagued with problems from the very beginning, too many list in this review. The end result is my back lawn has two very different levels. The last eight feet of the across the entire width of my yard (about 90 feet overall) being three to four inches higher than the original lawn. I also contracted to have rail road ties placed around the perimeter of my yard. I gave specific instructions regarding the exact placement of the ties to leave enough room to build a fence behind the ties at a later date. The ties were placed improperly at the rear edge of my property leaving no room for the fence and a noticeable six to eight in down slope in one corner that will leave a gap between the fence and the rail road ties. I shared my concerns with Pete, my sales person, and I was assured that the problems with the uneven lawn would be fixed according to the original agreement. Based on his assurances that the work would be completed properly I paid $3000. Some of the minor issues were resolved however Skone Irrigation made the decision to simply lessen the grade between the two levels of lawn rather than fixing the issue completely. I finally contacted Eric Skone owner of Skone Irrigation to address my issues. He promptly contacted me and we arranged to meet. After I addressed my all of my concerns and showing him my split level lawn, the improperly placed railroad ties and various other minor issues, Mr. Skone said that in his opinion was the work was satisfactory to him and he saw nothing wrong with work that his company provided. Bottom line, my opinion is that his company and his employees did a very poor job. I would NEVER recommend this company for any residential landscaping services what so ever. This is their stated objective from the company website: "Our Mission is to ensure the longevity and growth of our company through repeat and referral business achieved by customer satisfaction in all areas including timeliness, attention to detail and service-minded attitudes." One look at my back yard will definitely show that in my case Eric Skone and Skone Irrigation completely failed at their task . I will be sure to let as many people know about my experiences with the company and the lack of service and concern from the owner. Sincerely, DC
