My husband and I have been enjoying walks in this park for decades, and during the covid pandemic, this park provided exercise and a respite to many weary souls. The people continued coming to this gem of nature with its smooth, well maintained trails by the Raritan River and some more off the beaten path trails by the Raritan Canal. In the Spring, we look at the beautiful bluebell and buttercup flowers. In the Autumn, we look at the Fall palette of the leaves and enjoy watching the highjinks of the migrating geese. There are also bald eagles, herons, egrets, cormorants, ducks, kingfishers and a variety of songbirds. It is a nature lovers paradise with easy access for all, including the elderly and the disabled. There are also amenities - picnic tables, gazebos and grills, sports fields, a childrens' playground, Summer concerts, and clean restrooms. And locals walk their dogs here. The Peters Brook Greenway is a paved trail that winds through Somerville, following the course of…read moreits namesake creek. The Greenway provides pockets of greenery throughout the borough, offering a welcome respite from the bustling streets and sidewalks. When I go for strolls I enjoy being able to walk between both the Greenway and Somerville's picturesque streets, since it is integrated nicely within the street grid. The 7.1-mile trail is bounded by the Raritan River Greenway on one end, and Clarks Woods, a small nature preserve with a parking lot, on the other. Via the two greenways, you can walk or bike directly from Somerville to the nice trails and parks at Duke Farms in neighboring Hillsborough. Overall, the Peters Brook Greenway is a wonderful amenity for both residents and visitors, contributing to what makes Somerville such a unique and special place.

The medium sized parking lot is free. My favorite thing about this park is that free men's and women's restrooms facilities are in an enclosed heated building, with flush toilets, liquid hand soap, running water. I don't know many parks that have that. The park is directly across the street from a large strip mall with the Thai Kitchen Restaurant, a pizzeria, and a Rita's Italian ice.

He is very knowledgeable about the area where we went (Delaware water gap) and knew the hiking trail well too. I like how the size of the group wasn't too big so it was easier to get to know more people. Everyone was really excited to get some nice fresh air and exercise and of course visit a brewery! The hike was a moderate trail with some bigger hills up and down and a lot of rocks to watch your footing on. After the hike we were all hungry and ready for some beer. We stopped at Jersey Girl brewing where we all had flights and got a little tour of the place where all the action happens! The only criticism I have is with the lunch. It was very simple: chips, pickles, and homemade sandwiches with meat and cheese. There were a few vegetarian options but it was very heavy on the bread overall. I would love to see some kind of healthier alternative like a quinoa or lentil dish, which I would be happy to help with!

Dave was very easy to find since he sent us an email letting us know exactly where he'll be. From there, he drove the whole group in a van with awesome coffee for everyone. Once we arrived, we all got sandwiches Dave packed for us all and was off to seriously such a great hike. Dave made sure nobody from the group was left behind. Once the whole hike was done, we drove over to the brewery and Dave got pizza for everyone. Such a great time and arrived back at the time we expected Definitely would recommend and can't wait to go on another adventure!!
