After my interaction with Dr. Bashkoff, I had to file professional complaints for her unbelievable and unprofessional behavior. From the onset of our meeting she was angry and rude. She had files strewn all over her office - open on her desk that I could read and unattended in her public waiting room where anyone could access them. She didn't even know why I was there, after about 2 hours, she actually asked me why I was there. She wanted details about my medical history. I asked what she planned to do with my medical information and she refused to answer and tried to trick or shame me into signing release forms that I hadn't read. I told her I wasn't comfortable giving her private information if she wouldn't tell me who it would be shared with. She kept asking what I was hiding in my medical records and then twice asked if I had STDs that I was worried that everyone would find out about. Really?? She told me her report was based on my orthopedic health - this is outside of her scope of practice. Tried to shame me about asking my employer for a reasonable accomodation due to a disability - news flash, any disabled person has that basic human right and should not be made to feel embarrassed for asking for a RA. Luckily, when she was so openly hostile toward me, I did a quick google search and found recommendations from other reviewers to record my session. I am so glad that I did, she can't deny her behavior or make up lies about me- I have it all recorded. As an added note - in providing forensic psychology services, she deals with sex offenders and she has such poor judgement, that she displays a picture of a topless child on her desk. To normal people, it's a cute little kid, but something totally different to some of the sick people she sees. Is she that incompetent or that oblivious or is she trying to use that child to bait reaction from some of the offenders she sees? It is so scary to have someone in her profession with such poor judgement and clear bias. She has power over many people's lives -she conducts evaluations relevant to criminal, civil and family court issues amung other services. After my interaction with her, I have a hard time believing the positive reviews and really have to wonder if they are written by the doctor herself... especially the ones that say they were removed for violating terms of service (curiously, both have her name on them). read more

Dr. Bashkoff asked if I was recording our virtual session. After I said no, she asked me if I would be willing to take anti-psychotic medication. When I asked why, she said if it works then we will know you are delusional and if it doesn't then we will know you are not delusional. In her forensic custody report, she stated that I was delusional and that I needed to take anti-psychotic medication. This was done only after a few short sessions that totaled 90 minutes. During the sessions I was interrupted by her frequently while she did most of the talking. I went to a psychiatrist who was legally provided a copy of her forensic custody report. After a thorough professional evaluation using scientific methods the psychiatrist disproved Backoff's fraudulent diagnosis. Perhaps Dr. Bashkoff should go back to school for medical ethics or better yet, retire. read more

I belong to a listserv for local psychologists in the Capital District. In response to one member's request for other members to advocate for children asylum seekers in the US, Dr. Jacqueline Bashkoff wrote "I would respectively request that the listserv remain a resource for local psychologists and mental health providers regarding psychological issues and not a political forum. We do not all hold the same views and that should be respected." Any psychologist who is not willing to or comfortable protecting the rights of children seeking asylum has questionable morals at best. We choose what side of history to stand on, and it is disappointing and saddening to see mental professionals choosing the side of intentional silence and inaction. read more

When you are court ordered to see Dr. Bashkoff it is important to remember that she has her own agenda. She makes her money by charging $650. per person for a "psychological" evaluation and between $3,000 and $5,000. to testify. This evaluation is based on approximately 30- 90 minutes of time she will spend with each person asking very specific questions. She will then write a report on HER opinion of you and your situation. Dr. Bashkoff does not perform this service because she is compassionate or cares about you or your family. She makes her very good living reporting to the court system what she chooses. It would not serve her well to always tell the truth. If she has a relationship, working or otherwise, with an attorney, judge etc. it benefits her to flavor her report to assist them. Otherwise, she would lose business. Her behavior during these sessions is very confrontational and regardless of her bias or unethical behavior she is protected by the court system and cannot be held accountable. I believe that Dr. Bashkoff has convinced many people that she is an authority on many topics however, she is clearly a very sad individual with an education. read more

I saw the good doctor (cough, cough) many years ago as a bulimic who was significantly depressed and had an history of suicidal ideation. My boyfriend arrived at the first appointment early and she spoke with him first. In less than five minutes, Baskoff insulted him for not "doing enough with his college degree," and arguing with his reasons for wanting me to get better, and essentially invalidated and emasculated him. He so badly wanted me to get better that he didn't even tell me how disgusted he was by Baskoff's behavior for quite some time. During approximately 15-20 appointments, she was often late, she fixed her makeup, didn't take notes, daydreamed, touched up her nails, drew pictures, doodled and ate. She ate in front of a bulimic-Repeatedly! This wasn't any type of immersion therapy or CBT--It was just horrible and ignorant behavior. I had been hospitalized on several occasions for low potassium, stomach problems, anemia, and seizures prior to and during my time with Bashkoff. My father, boyfriend and even I requested admission to Four Winds and she stated on several occasions that I wasn't that sick, that thin, that severe, etc., and hence, she wouldn't refer me. Then I had a heart attack because of my low potassium, went to Four Winds, got the help I needed and after 18 years of active bulimia, I am now a healthy, married psychiatric nurse and clinical psychotherapist. If you or someone you love is being treated by Bashkoff, find another doctor. It will be the best thing you ever do. read more
