He spoke over me when I tried to explain that the menu was taking a long time to load on my phone and we would need a minute before ordering. He interrupted and said it would be better if he got the English menu because it would be easier. My husband understands enough Spanish that we were fine. That wasn't the issue, not being able to load the menu was the issue. I just said thank you and moved on. We ordered quickly because he seemed so impatient. My husband and I ordered from the prix fix menu, which included three courses. My son wasn't that hungry so he shared some of my husband's appetizer. We were almost finished and the server came over and told us that what we did was not fair and that we were taking money away from him by not ordering a whole meal for my son. Now the thing to note was his attitude while saying this. I have never been spoken to so rudely as a customer. So I got up and asked the other staff if I could speak with a manager. They said one was not available. It was Sunday so maybe this was true. Then our server came around the corner. I explained to him that I felt that he was very rude and had given us terrible service from the start. I said, if you continue to treat customers this way they will not return. He said, "that's fine, I don't care if you come back". Now I understand that San Sebastián has a lot of tourists at this time (July) and it may affect some of the locals attitudes. However, to say this was unacceptable. We decided to pay our bill with another server and leave even before the dessert course. Our server chased us out onto the sidewalk and was yelling at us in Spanish. That's when I had finally had enough and turned around and started coming at him. As we were just finishing our drinks, suddenly the manager turned the music up to a painfully loud volume. When we asked what was happening, he simply said "cerrados" and pointed towards the door. I'm absolutely disgusted that a bar can hold this attitude towards its customers. The staff here act like it's the client's privilege to be there, and that you are something of an inconvenience. I'd only recommend coming here if you have masochistic tendencies, and enjoy being treated like dirt. One star is more than this place deserves.
