JEW ME Below is…read moreinformation for anyone that may use Davies Sand and Gravel. We hired Davies Sand and Gravel in 2013 never having worked with them before. Our house was in a state of emergency and we needed quick action. Davies Sand and Gravel was a contact of another business we hired and that's how we were connected together. Before we started work, I asked for a price range and it was provided and achieved, but at the high end of the range. When I received the invoice it showed that he charged $45 per hour for a basic labourer. Make sure you get a break down of the pricing first so you know what you're paying for. Dean Davies, although he admitted is not certified for excavator use, is good with a machine. The work we had done we have no complaints about. Problems. We paid the majority of the invoice but held back some to cover the costs of realized damages done to the property that we should not have been held accountable for. Davies Sand and Gravel defended by saying damage to a solid stone retaining wall was not their responsibility because no one witnessed him or his employees hit it, although the damage could only have been done by heavy equipment. MAKE SURE THEY ARE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES OTHERWISE THIS MAY HAPPEN TO YOU. Know that as a home owner, you will be considered the general contractor. Make sure you do the BC One Call, because they didn't. Davies Sand and Gravel struck a gas line and then, without the approval from the "general contractor" (home owner) shut it off from the property line which allowed water to seep into the line leading to the line needing to be fully replaced on the orders of WJM Plumbing, our house plumbing contractor, and we did it at a great cost. The loads of materials he brought is questionable both in volume and type/quality, and since I heard it's not the first time this happened we reviewed copies that we requested. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK TICKETS. I found a lot of worrying and highly questionable things that I was not allowed to bring to court (yes this was a painful court case) as I did not include it in my claim because I did not know the rule of the court. I thought if we had an opportunity to show our evidence, the judge would see the discrepancies. Now, I only hope this information can help others. The public should know that Dean Davies told me not to "JEW" him, when I brought up that these costs should be considered. In court Dean Davies said that he didn't put together my last name was Jewish... and said sorry. Before, during and even after the court case, he continued to send text messages calling me names, even after being asked to be left alone, which is not very professional. Dean Davies from 130 meters or more from our house used a type of high zoom lens over a six foot privacy fence to take pictures, including a close-up of our bedroom and bathing area while my wife was home, with no relation to the claim. This is an invasion of privacy and can be considered voyeurism according to the criminal code, I believe. Dean filed his claim, we counter claimed, and then Dean re-filed with an invoice charging for work HE CLAIMS he did for free because he is a "nice guy." In court he did not provide any proof that he worked that day. At this point I am involving a lawyer to bring an end to the problems we have with Mr. Davies. I pay my invoices but I have found some contractors are not always honest and do things that can cause problems to a family. Protect yourself and others from problems by making sure you get everything up front in writing and supervise this company at all times.

Alan, the Project Manager from Genesis was exceptional. He is knowledgeable, professional, and kind, and shows a genuine desire to help people. He came right at the appointed time and was thorough despite his busy schedule. He came to assess if there was too much moisture still in the ceiling drywall from water that had leaked into the suite below mine a week earlier and provide an estimate on the cost to do repairs. Alan double-checked and triple-checked using his various tools. He was very patient to answer all our questions to our satisfaction. I highly recommend Genesis and will use their services again.

The additional considerations required to do renovation work in a clinical space were managed smoothly and Genesis was able to fit the work required into our limited time constraints. We were able to navigate the city, infection prevention, and other contractor needs with ease because Genesis took on the brunt of the coordination efforts. The space was left looking even cleaner than it was prior to the renovation and we never had to worry about the work interfering with our patient care. Much appreciated, genesis!
