I waited and I'm all for supporting Black Business, but Basement King is the very reason why I won't anymore. After bids from several companies, I selected Basement King to finish waterproofing my basement, bury my downspouts underground and out to the curb, and fix a busted sprinkler pipe. Mind you, A Best Dry Waterproofing gave me a quote for the same, but I figured I would go with Anthony and Basement King. What was supposed 4 days, ended up taking 2 weeks. In the end, Anthony admitted he couldn't repair the sprinkler pipe, which I let slide.
Instead of running the downspouts under the sidewalk, through the front yard, and out to the curb, I walk outside to see that Anthony's son has dug the trench under the sidewalk and diagonally through my yard! (If I remember to tomorrow, I will upload pictures of the trench, as the damage to my yard is still visible 8 months later) I immediately told him to STOP, as it was clear he had no idea what he was doing. He then asked me about a black wire underground that he thought he hit while digging....I later found out this was the wire that controls one zone of my sprinkler system, which I now have to have repaired.... I'll get back that in a minute...but instead of running the downspouts to the curb, I told Anthony to just run them along the front slope of the house, and around the corner towards the creek. All he had to do was get the slope of the trench right and tie the downspouts into the existing ones running along the slope around towards the creek. This should be easy for a professional waterproofing company, right?? WRONG...see picture below and judge for yourself...downspout is just sitting on top of the dirt, not sloped at all
Since July, when this work was done, I've complained repeatedly about the fact that the downsouts are not done correctly, so the water just sits in them instead of running down hill. This past winter, the water sat in the downspouts and actually froze because it had nowhere to go due to the trench being flat and not sloped. Anthony has been out at least 3 times to "fix" the problem, and each time, the downspouts are still not sloped right. 2 weeks ago, I texted him telling him to give me back $200 and I would pay someone to re-dig the trench and fix the downspouts because he clearly has idea what he is doing. I also told him I would bill him whatever it costs me to have the cut sprinkler wire that his son cut repaired. Anthony had the nerve to deny responsibility claiming I didn't have the sprinkler lines marked, and he didn't damage anything. I reminded Anthony that I had the utility lines marked in preparation for the trenching that was to be done, but of course the utility company isn't responsible for marking sprinkler wires.. As the homeowner I don't even know where the sprinkler wires are underground, but I know that if I damage someone's property, I will take responsibility for it! I finally I went so far as telling him the correct fall for a drainage pipe in order for it to work, which was least 1/4 inch per foot, which you would think he would already know. Anyway, Anthony swore he would be here this past Saturday at 8 AM to fix the trench, but instead, he senta text saying it was going to rain, so he would be here Sunday at 8. I replied telling him he knew all darn week it was supposed to rain Saturday, but HE chose that day! The next day, 8 AM comes and goes, and no Anthony. At 11:30 I texted him telling him he was unprofessional, and I was done playing games with him because he hadn't shown or bothered to call or text me. I haven't hear from him since.
I would NEVER recommend him to anyone. I didn't have any problem getting him to sell me a boatload of promises and take my money, but try getting Basement King to come fix a problem. I could/should have paid Alierio and A Best Dry Waterproofing to do the job right the first time. Just because you create a business, doesn't make you professional. Basement King is proof that ANYONE can form an LLC, and despite being licensed and insured, they still may take your money. NEVER AGAIN! read more
