Nice studio and facility. This was my first Barry's experience outside of the US and I actually…read morethink the workout itself was better than in other studios I've been to. However, I wasn't impressed with the instructor: he didn't give any introductions to new people and he only paid attention to a select couple girls in the class. I also went in the morning so the shower line was crazy long, so just plan accordingly. The bathroom itself is quite large though so it doesn't get uncomfortably crowded. I would definitely go back, but I'd probably try a different instructor.

If I could give this place more stars out of more stars I would!!…read more I am writing form on Ex-Fatty point of view, and I mean this in no disrespect to myself but it is a different mentality. I see exercise differently, I feel, to other people. This place gives me no option but to push my fitness boundaries and achieve personal goals. It may look intimidating, from their Instagram account. Handfuls of 10 packed HE-man esque men and woman,,, BUT this inspires me. The way I view the red-lit dungeon that you are kept prisoner in for 60 minutes is that you will always leave feeling incredible. There are moments you feel like your legs are going to fall off and your head will burst BUT when they say those magical words for the last time ... "ANNNND RECOVER.." you feel like SUPERMAN! At a 'normal' Gym I am so intimidated by the beefcakes at the weight stands that I don't go near it, where at Barry's I am running along side Pro-athletes feeling like we are in this together. I've read previous reviews and YES the trainers can be a little intense but this is HIGH INTENSITY training. There is a part in the class that you really want to give UP. Like really want to GIVE UP! Thats when they start shouting at the that lazy demon inside to .. GO AWAY! Just see it as the trainers are there for you to get the most out of your money.. without them you wouldn't work as hard.. and just to finish off with a little pearl of wisdom I have learnt whilst taking these classes.. Just remember..... IT ALWAYS ENDS!!!!

I never thought I would like pilates. For some reason, I imagined it like yoga but without all the good parts, but it's actually quite dynamic and not like soul-less yoga at all. The studio offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced Reformer classes, their own spin on HIIT called TenHIIT, personal training, as well as massage. I've tried the Beginner Reformer class and TenHIIT. Reformer was was an hour long, small group: only about 4 people in the class, but I still would have liked a little more personal instruction. TenHIIT was an even smaller group: only 2, me and one other girl, in the class. Our instructor tortured us with a variety of strength and cardio circuits: weights, squats, lunges, jumping jacks... repeat x4 then onto treadmill sprints, TRX arms, burpees, plank... it was 45 mins of *tough*. Really, it's just like having a personal training session but on Classpass. The showers look nice (I showered at home before work) and there's towel service, which is convenient. 4 stars for small classes, great value, and variety from targeted Reformer for newbies like me to kill-me-now personal training sessions.

Got to admit - I was kind of nervous for my first class and wasn't entirely sure what to expect but I came out feeling amazing. My alignment and posture has improved massively since starting these classes. The beginners class moves nice and slow to get you used to using the reformer. Do advance to the intermediate when you are ready to keep challenging yourself though. The studio is gorgeous and have 5 other locations around London. Each just as lovely!!

I much prefer the activity i.e. golf, snowboarding, cycling where I get the health benefit and the actual enjoyment. However despite my initial misgivings, I signed up via a qype offer, and I have been extremely surprised; I have found myself really enjoying the experience, though the 20 to 30 minutes after the session I find absolute beagony due to my inherent lack of fitness. The trainers are friendly, always mindful and engaging, however they do push you without resorting the drill sergeant tactics. Curiously, you will find yourself trying to beat or at least push yourself to get the most of of the experience and to match the expectations of your trainer. Having researched some prices of other gyms, this is by far the best I have seen in terms of value, and allied with the new equipment and the friendly staff, it seems a no-brainer. I would definitely recommend it to someone wanting to push themselves to lose weight, gain muscle or in my case just improve my level of fitness a bit.

I have always been active and always a member of a gym, but I never quite achieved either the…read moreweight loss I was always striving for or the toned physic and was getting extremely de-motivated. A colleague of mine then recommended I visit IgnitePT and see what I think so I went to take a look. My initial goal was to lose around two stone I had put on since turning 30 (a little while back now) and to coincide the weight loss with a holiday to South Africa. If I am honest, I didn't think it was a realistic goal as I had attempted it in the past and the weight simply didn't reduce to the extent I wanted which was really disappointing. I was working out, putting hours into my gym sessions but really poor results. I signed up and had to keep a food diary which was regularly reviewed. The critique was tough but very fair and it became a learning experience / re-education to what I should eat and drink and when. It was a surprise to me how often I should eat and was strange to have a recommendation to eat more often but it allowed me to feel nourished and gave me the energy to rise to the challenging workouts that came alongside the dietary changes. It also reduced my snacking tendency and a cheat day was built in to keep me on track. A proper exercise programme was then drawn up with a mixture of some personal training, gym work and an appropriate balance of rest. The PT sessions consisted of some tough cardio i.e. circuit style work with working every muscle group. The range of equipment kept it interesting though and the fact that I could see the progression at regular intervals. I would be lying if I said my personal training sessions were a doddle far from it. I have never worked so hard before or felt so whacked at the end of the hour sessions. However once my initial conditioning was out the way I was relatively pain free as I was pushed to a limit but not to the extent that I couldn't walk. The constant changing of the exercises and the fact that I could see definite progression made it all motivational as did the great prompting and encouragement given by my trainer. I am so proud of having lost the weight and love all the compliments I get. Tough bit now is continuing to maintain it but I'm confident I can do it and think that training at IgnitePT was one of my best decisions ever.
