I could not believe my relief when I opened the CA Bar website and saw "pass" last week. I passed the February 2025 bar exam with Daniel's help! For anyone needing bar prep help, Daniel is a great resource! He provided a schedule which I followed 80% of. I checked in with him basically every week and if I didn't one week, he would check in with me. I appreciated his responsiveness to my questions and insight when it came to doing the MBE. My weak spot was the MBE, so learning his method really was a game changer and made my score skyrocket. Another area of weakness for me was the PT's. For the life of me, I just couldn't figure out how to get it done in the allotted time. Daniel's tips and explanations really helped me get a LOT better on the PT's and improved my confidence on it. I asked all of my burning questions in our weekly phone conversations and used his recommendations to practice differently. Each time, I got hung up on something, I would ask, receive feedback, and practice differently. Eventually, I got the hang of it. I cannot have imagined facing bar prep without Daniel on my side. Prior to starting bar prep, I knew I did not want a large, commercial company because companies with a one size fits all approach for every student are impersonal and can be overwhelming. I had interviewed many private companies, but did not feel confident with anyone. The moment I talked to Daniel on the phone that changed. I cannot stress enough the importance of a good BarPrep course. I started with one of the big names in the industry, and I must say that the material was flashy and nice, the lectures and the online portal were good, but I felt that the lessons were not so personal. I found that the course had incredibly old past MBE questions. The instructor lecturing on the subjects commented on how it was difficult to maximize on teaching with such an old style of questioning. Also, during the first month of the two-month course, essays were corrected some 2-3 weeks late. When I complained, I received a very unprofessional letter from the owner of the course that I had no right to complain. We also were expected to write our own uutlines for each subject, which took a lot of time away from other study technique. Not what I would expect with a $6,800 price tag: old MBE's, no outlines and rude emails three weeks before the bar? My girlfriend, who purchased Barmax (ipad app) had the newest of MBE's and only paid $999 for new MBE's, fabulous outlines and essays that were corrected within 3 days. If I had known what I know now, I would have looked her way before having wasted a large sum of money on Barwinners. I would be wary of that 94%* advertised bar pass rate. Read the fine print to figure why it is "their opinion" that only ABA top 30% are in that advertised pass rate. The city attorney was contacted as to this concern. 5-star reviews from Alana C and Danielle D are from tutors that worked at Barwinners while I was taking this course in 2013. I took Barwinners because all through law school I spent a lot of time creating outlines that would actually help me write the exam, and Barwinners was the only course I found that actually did this for me. I've looked at the outlines offered by other prep companies; they're great for learning and understanding the law, but they don't take you from learning the law to applying the law on the essays. The Barwinners Approach Outlines, on the other hand, take you step-by-step along the appropriate order of analysis, so you review the law in the way you would actually apply it on the exam. As part of the course, you have to submit a calendar with your daily schedule, hour by hour, up until the day of the bar. Creating the schedule is helpful in and of itself, but what makes this a very helpful assignment is that Shari and her staff actually give you feedback on it, letting you know how realistic it is and how effective it might be. In terms of the staff, Shari is great because she's passionate about what she does, and she won't hesitate to tell you how it is. If she sees you're burning out, she'll tell you to slow down. If she sees you're lagging, she'll remind you to step it up. And Anne, the administrative assistant, is hands-down one of the top three nicest individuals I have ever met (I'm not one for hyperbole, so that says a lot). The only thing to consider is whether it's been a while since you last studied the law. I took a few years off after law school before deciding to take the bar, and from my experience, I would recommend brushing up on the bar subjects before taking Barwinners. The course is really focused on practical application, so it doesn't spend a lot of time giving you background, policies, and context. For someone right out of law school or someone who has already gone through another prep course, this class is PERFECT. If you've taken some time off, just brush up a bit before taking the course and you'll be fine. read more

I just passed the CA February 2015 bar and I believe it was all due to Barwinners. I had finished law school middle bottom of my class and just failed the 2014 July bar, i had scored about a 1300. I had taken Barbri for the previous bar and switched over to Kaplan. My essays would never get above a 60 based on Kaplan's graders (or barbri's the year previously). After the final practice test i still couldn't break a 60 on an essay and my scores had gone down overall. Not what you want to see going into the bar and needless to say I was freaking out. I heard about bar winners through a friend who had a similar experience and another who was taking the course. I spoke with Shari and I decided that despite the high price tag for a 2 hour private session, I had nothing to lose but more time and energy (and $$$) wasted studying for another bar. I thought that at least I would have peace of mind that I had done everything in my power to pass and these additional funds in the long scheme of money spent on lawschool and the bar (twice) is really just one percentage point of my total costs. To pass after spending the additional bucks would be the best ROI ever. I went with the idea to be a sponge and take everything they said as the word of God. within minutes the team had read my previous essays and found my problem with my essays. I was shown their methods and all the little tips and tricks to save those precious seconds during the bar. Of my study group I was the only one who didn't check right at 6:00 p.m. When I checked my phone I saw a slew of messages which basically said that all the members in my study group had failed again. I did not want to even check having labeled myself as the dumb one because my score from the July bar was the lowest. I finally checked hours later and found to my astonishment that my name MATTHEW CRAIG BRIGGS was on the list for the CA Feb 2015 bar examination. I was the only one who took bar winners and truly think that without their advice and encouragement I would not have had the confidence to pass. I enrolled in Barwinners for the past July 2013 CA Bar Exam. This was my second time sitting for the bar exam. While I don't have my results yet, I can honestly say that I felt better prepared than I had felt with the previous bar exam course I had taken for the February 2013 bar exam.
