Worked with Daniel and passed the Feb 2026 CA Bar Exam. The books that come with the program and the Zoom sessions were extremely helpful. He really helps you prioritize and strategize. This was my fourth time taking the bar exam and I finally passed thanks to him! read more

I worked with Daniel for the February 2026 Attorneys Exam, which I passed on my first attempt. I was studying while working full time and planning my wedding, so my time was extremely limited. Daniel's no-nonsense approach and clear guidance made a huge difference. He breaks down complex material in a way that makes it much easier to understand, helps you prioritize what to study, and focuses on practical strategies for earning the points you need to pass. If you follow the BarWinners approach and put in the work, I truly believe you can pass this exam. read more

Daniel is an incredible bar exam prep expert, tutor and coach. I am so grateful to have had Daniel in my corner through the long journey of restudying for the CA bar four times, and feel that he was instrumental in my ultimate success with the toughest bar exam in the world. Daniel really knows how to boil down this exam into its most essential parts so that you know exactly where to focus your energy, and you avoid accidentally wasting time on stuff that doesn't matter. Daniel also always made himself available if I ever needed one-on-one coaching, had questions about anything, or even just needed a sounding board or a quasi-therapist when I was feeling emotionally drained. I found Adaptibar to be an amazing supplement to Daniel's program because I needed the extra MBE practice, as this was my biggest area of improvement I needed to pass. I always used Daniel's essay practice materials, but saw a huge jump in my MBE scores with Adaptibar because it offered lots of data and tracking so that I could analyze where I needed the most help, and then Daniel and I could focus on those specific subtopics to help me pick up more points. The tracking kept me accountable by showing me my progress by topic and total questions so I knew I was on track. As a retaker I knew the MBE was my weaker area, so I found Daniel's program plus Adaptibar to be a winning combination to help me finally pass. Thanks again Daniel! read more

I could not believe my relief when I opened the CA Bar website and saw "pass" last week. After not passing the first time, I felt like there was an added psychological weight and self-criticism that made studying and believing in myself more difficult the second time round. Thankfully, I was recommended BarWinners with Daniel Garrett. He helped a former Pepperdine Law classmate of mine pass on her 3rd attempt. I'm so grateful for that recommendation. I used Barbri the first time round and just got bogged down in the videos and kept falling further and further behind. Daniel figures out your strengths and weaknesses, and offers really practical tools and workshops to demystify the bar exam process. As an example, I found it really difficult to write the PTs in 90 minutes. After the workshop with BarWinners my approach shifted dramatically and when I took the February Bar I finished with plenty of time left over. So if you're looking for ways to improve your chances of passing, I would definitely recommend checking out BarWinners and chatting with Daniel over the phone. I wish you all the best future bar takers and retakers. You may not have passed yet, but you will pass. It's just a matter of time. Don't stop believing in yourself. read more

I highly recommend BarWinners for anyone preparing for the bar exam. Daniel was an incredible tutor who kept me on track with regular check-ins and was always available to answer my questions. He managed to break down some of the more complex subjects for me, making them more easy to understand. He was knowledgeable in UBE and he was able to tailor the program to me personally based on what I needed. Most importantly, he helped me build the confidence I needed to tackle the February exam, which I passed! Thank you, Daniel and BarWinners! read more

I passed the February 2025 bar exam with Daniel's help! For anyone needing bar prep help, Daniel is a great resource! He provided a schedule which I followed 80% of. I checked in with him basically every week and if I didn't one week, he would check in with me. I appreciated his responsiveness to my questions and insight when it came to doing the MBE. My weak spot was the MBE, so learning his method really was a game changer and made my score skyrocket. Another area of weakness for me was the PT's. For the life of me, I just couldn't figure out how to get it done in the allotted time. Daniel's tips and explanations really helped me get a LOT better on the PT's and improved my confidence on it. I asked all of my burning questions in our weekly phone conversations and used his recommendations to practice differently. Each time, I got hung up on something, I would ask, receive feedback, and practice differently. Eventually, I got the hang of it. I had a pretty good foundation for essays to start, but getting Daniel's feedback on them further clarified how I could boost my scores even further. After not passing the bar the first time, I was dejected and demoralized. BUT I knew that I had studied hard, so not doing the hard work was not the problem. I needed someone to explain to me just where I was going wrong. Of all of the bar tutoring services that I googled, Daniel's prices were the most reasonable in light of the services he offered - weekly group sessions, individualized check-ins, and bar prep materials. Of course, he's not a magician, so expect to be doing the work and prep in the process. But if anything that I've said about how I improved with Daniel's help resonated with you, you may benefit from his expertise, insight, and investment in your bar prep journey! read more

I can't recommend Daniel and BarWinners enough! I just passed the CA Bar thanks to him and the BarWinners' curriculum!!! It's a grueling process to take, let alone retake, the CA Bar and from the first call I had with Daniel I knew I was in good and competent hands. The course has all the material you could possibly need, but I think the huge value of Daniel and BW is his support and direction. He is constantly available and responsive and taught me how to actually take the exam, which is an entirely different skillset and requires a totally different strategy from law school exams and actual legal practice. The way he teaches MEEs completely changed my approach and results. The sheer amount of practice and guidance was incredible. He also holds a ton of workshops for essays and MBEs which were game-changing. If you're taking for the first time, or have the misfortune of having to retake, don't hesitate to reach out to Daniel and get on a plan to passing! read more

Daniel Garrett and BarWinners helped me pass the bar, and I can't say enough good things. As a repeat taker, I needed someone who could do more than just hand me materials--I needed structure, guidance, and accountability. Daniel provided all of that and more. The BarWinners online course was incredibly well-organized. I followed the assignments step by step, which helped me stay on track. But more importantly, Daniel checked in throughout the process--not just about studying, but about how I was doing personally. That kind of care made all the difference. Daniel is more than a tutor--he's a mentor who actually invests in your success. If you're taking the bar, especially as a repeat taker, I can't recommend Daniel Garrett and BarWinners enough. read more

Daniel checked out my work, was able to identify my weaknesses ( even those I couldn't even see) and turn me from powerless to ready to go no matter what was thrown at me. He is amazing!! I wish I signed up for him the first time ... I wasted alot of time ( and money) with other preps. read more

Thank you Daniel for everything. He helped me pass while I was running a business and working full time.

I can't say enough good things about Daniel (the owner and tutor of BarWinners)! He creates a curated schedule for his students that covers any and all possible topics on the exam. While I had worked with a tutor prior to Daniel, I did not receive the encouragement and strategic advice that I did from Daniel. Without a doubt, Daniel's methods helped me feel confident on the exam days and pass! Thank you, Daniel! read more

I cannot speak highly enough about Daniel from BarWinners. I passed on my third time around and can attribute my exam success to Dan. I used Barbri the first time -- did the hours, practice questions, and essays, and still felt like I had trouble actually committing the rules to memory. Daniel's approach fit my learning style far better than Barbri did. Additionally, Daniel's calming presence and consistent availability for questions or just to chat assuaged a lot of the bar exam study anxiety that necessarily comes with the process. Folks who have taken the exam before know exactly what I am talking about as the mental aspect is half of the battle. I can definitely say without Dan I wouldn't have passed. Anyone who is planning on taking the exam for the first or fifteenth time should seriously consider his services over the big bar prep services. PS. If you don't believe me, check out the number of other testimonials from folks who used BarWinners and passed. read more

Daniel was nothing short of great. His approach and schedule for studying was a lot more beneficial for me than a typical box program. He was not only knowledgeable but also personable and was as invested in your success as you were. Thank to him I was able to pass on my second try. I would highly recommend. read more

As a first time bar taker, I wasn't sure which prep course to choose. But I'd heard great things about BarWinners and personally had Daniel as a professor at Ventura COL, so I felt it was a strong option. And I'm so glad I did! His preparation course can be personalized to fit your schedule and I never felt like the work was overwhelming. He focuses the course on highly tested areas and gives you the resources you need to succeed. But what really set BarWinners apart from other courses was: (1) with purchase of the course, he included an option (BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) "Early Smart Start" course PRIOR to full on bar prep. That was vital for me and a great introduction to the course ahead; and (2) Daniel was available anytime to answer my questions. I could txt him, call, email, zoom, you name it... he was there. I'm proud to say that I passed on my first try. And I highly recommend this course to future CA bar takers. Anyone that is interested in learning more about this course can hop onto their website and shoot Daniel an email. He responds quickly and directly addresses your questions and concerns. read more

I passed the CA bar on the first try with Dan's help. I graduated from UCLA Law no where near the top or the middle of my class. I enjoyed school but taking exams never clicked for me and I was worried about my ability to pass the bar. Dan taught me how to approach the bar exam in a way that saves you a ton of time compared to big box prep companies (which I also paid for out of panic). He also was helpful in adjusting the plan when life got in the way. He is tough and no-nonsense, which was what I needed. I think you can pass the bar studying in a way that accommodates life happening with Dan's program + doing memorization with a study buddy. I did not believe this before or while I was studying for the bar because I was so worried about how much I was studying compared to how much I thought other people were studying. Being able to get on with life and into practice-- which THANK GOD is nothing like law school or studying for the bar-- is well worth the investment of working with Barwinners. read more

I am so thankful for Daniel and his work at Bar Winners. I passed the California Bar Exam of February 2024 and I attribute much of my success to his teaching style. The first time I took the bar I did everything "correctly" and by the book putting in countless hours and still came up short. Working with Daniel was essential in shifting my mindset and approach to taking the exam. He was always available and was a great support especially considering I was working full time while studying for the February Bar! I cannot recommend him enough, you won't go wrong by trusting his process! read more

Daniel has helped me tremendously throughout my bar prep process. I highly recommend for hands on tutoring!

As a foreign trained attorney with an NY LL.M. who was working full time while taking the bar exam, I needed a bar prep course that would be tailored to fit my schedule. I had taken the CA bar before and I fell short a few points. Daniel is an amazing tutor and his bar prep course helped me understand where I needed to put in the work to get a passing score. It was only after taking Barwinners that I realized that studying for the CA bar comes down to a scientific, well thought approach and that I could pass the exam studying smart instead of studying extremely long hours. Daniel was always available to discuss strategies and tactics, questions I had about assignments and what to focus on. I found the essay sessions particularly helpful since I wasn't doing well on my essays previously and Daniel taught me how to write a passing essay for each subject. I recommend Barwinners and I was glad to see my name on the pass list among the 32% students who passed the February 2023 CA bar exam. Thanks Daniel! read more

First time CA bar taker. Daniel was a HUGE help enabling me to pass on the first time! He was always available whether it was for our weekly follow up phone calls or quick texts while studying. His program is easy to follow with a 2 month calendar provided so each day is mapped out (and yes off days are scheduled in). The audio lectures and attack outlines for each subject were extremely helpful to narrow the focus of what is actually tested. BONUS for the course was a full PT exam unit built right in to the bar studies course, which is normally either not covered at all or covered very briefly. Would definitely recommend for anyone who is looking for a bar prep course.... THIS IS THE ONE!!!! read more

I cannot have imagined facing bar prep without Daniel on my side. Prior to starting bar prep, I knew I did not want a large, commercial company because companies with a one size fits all approach for every student are impersonal and can be overwhelming. I had interviewed many private companies, but did not feel confident with anyone. The moment I talked to Daniel on the phone that changed. Daniel's method of bar prep is nothing like the commercial programs - his approach is practical, concise, and every assignment is given with specific intention. I never felt like I was wasting time during prep, nor did I ever feel too overwhelmed with the material at hand. As to Daniel as an instructor, he has a way of explaining complicated concepts in easy to understand ways. Moreover, he is always accessible and easy to communicate with. His feedback on essays, performance tests, and MBE is invaluable and truly provides insight as to what makes for a passing (and above passing) score. Daniel is very encouraging during the entire bar prep process and works with students' schedules to ensure they are adequately prepared for the exam. For example, during bar prep, I had a horrible case of Covid, wiping me out for 3 weeks. I called Daniel with the intention of withdrawing from the exam, but he assured me we could course correct and to trust his process and method of teaching. Thankfully I did not withdraw from the exam and put all my trust in Daniel because I passed on my first attempt! I can't thank Daniel enough, and recommend him enough. While bar prep is stressful and daunting, I would go so far as to say that Daniel makes the experience as enjoyable and painless as possible. I am certain that this is something no other instructor can provide. I accredit passing the CA bar exam on my first attempt entirely to Daniel. He is simply the best! read more

I cannot stress enough the importance of a good BarPrep course. I started with one of the big names in the industry, and I must say that the material was flashy and nice, the lectures and the online portal were good, but I felt that the lessons were not so personal. Daniel came into play when, after being studying for six months, my essay writing and grasp of the subjects was sub-par for what the Bar Exam required. A colleague of mine recommended BarWinners, and I soon got in touch with Daniel and his team. The Barwinners team got in touch with me very fast and started assessing my skills as soon after a preliminary test, I must say that I had to re' wire my study methods and thinking, but my essays and MBE increased dramatically, I started focusing on the areas that the BarWinners team told me to focus, reviewing the outlines and more importantly, familiarizing me with the way my jurisdiction tested. Daniel helped me adjust my study schedule to my hectic workdays and business trips and always found a way to keep me engaged in my studies. On Exam day I felt good, not with overconfidence, but with ease. Daniel personally was in constant contact and the information flowed, it was not a ride in the park, but it was definitely not a highway to hell. I am grateful every day for Daniel and BarWinners, they are on the lookout for me since day one, and even after the exam day. I know one thing for sure, I couldn't have done it without Daniel and Barwinners. read more

Daniel is amazing and the BarWinners (BW) course is a must for anyone taking the bar exam. No offense to big box tutorials like BarBri. Many of my colleagues were successful with that style of learning. For me, 'the one-size fits all' tutor approach did not work. That's why I chose BW. Daniel teaches techniques for maximizing points. His course also streamlines the information and highlights the content most commonly tested. This is invaluable when trying to digest the mountain of rules for every subject. Plus, Daniel is always available and can help with special tactics such as proper timing for each portion of the exam, and how to quickly and efficiently break down the PT material to write a cohesive and high scoring essay. I cannot recommend BarWinners enough. Plus, the course is -- in my opinion -- quite affordable. Do yourself a favor and sign up for BarWinners. read more

Daniel is a godsend! He not only helped me pass my Bar exam on the first try, I actually had a blast doing it. His program is logical, straightforward, personally tailored, intimately supported, blissfully free of busywork, and the workload is reasonably demanding. By the time I sat my Bar, I mostly knew what to expect, how to handle it, and how to use my strengths to balance my weaknesses. Dan shares my mantra "work smart, not hard;" he has it set up so that as long as you do the work, you'll pass the test. Trust the process, trust the teacher, trust that the Bar IS a teachable exam IF you have the right tutor to guide you. If that tutor is Daniel, you'll not only be more likely to succeed and pass your Bar, you'll be more likely to stay sane in the process. Highly, highly recommend! read more

I was very happy with the course and help Daniel provided. Passed my bar exam on the first take. The material and process is efficient and allows students to use their time effectively. I owe my success on the bar exam to Daniel. He believed in me when I didn't. I took the bar more than once. The first time, I didn't contact Bar Winners until late into studying. I was losing hope but Daniel gave me confidence that I could pass if I followed his plan. Unfortunately, I was burnt out by that point and couldn't keep going. The next time I took the bar, I told myself I would follow Bar Winner's schedule religiously. The structure and support it gave me was absolutely fundamental to my success. Doing countless practice exams and receiving personalized feedback was crucial. I recommend Bar Winners to anyone who wants a real person to help guide them through the bar exam. read more

I would not have passed the California Bar exam without Daniel's tutoring. I worked full time while studying for the bar exam, and Daniel worked with me to create a study plan that allowed me the flexibility to study after work and on weekends. Daniel was always there for me during my bar exam prep: to answer questions, to give me advice on how to approach a particular topic, and to give me candid feedback about my strengths and weaknesses. Most importantly, Daniel really wanted me to pass, and he went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that I did. If you are a practicing lawyer admitted in other states, you may be tempted to study on your own and rely on your experience to carry you through the California Bar exam. You cannot study on your own and expect to pass. You need to learn how to write for the California examiners. You need to understand the law (and California distinctions), but you also need to know how to present your knowledge to the California Bar examiners in order to get full credit for every answer. If you work with Daniel and follow his approach, you will only need to take this exam once. read more

Daniel is the reason I passed the February 2023 California bar exam as a repeat taker who was working full-time while studying. From our first interaction, Daniel was patient, honest, and easily accessible. He worked with me to adjust the Bar Winners study schedule to my work schedule and provided strategies for approaching each section of the exam. None of my prior bar exam resources (a large bar prep company and a tutor provided by my law school) came close to meeting the simple yet highly effective approach Daniel provided. There was no busy work, only necessary and very tailored/targeted assignments. Leading up to the exam, Daniel also strategized with me on an overall exam approach based on my strengths. As a result of Daniel's consistent support and feedback, I felt so much more confident and prepared going into this exam than prior ones. Daniel also took the time to check in with me after each exam day and even before/after results. I know I would not have passed the exam (and been part of the 32% pass rate!) without Daniel. I unequivocally recommend Bar Winners - hiring Daniel was the best decision I made in my bar exam journey! read more

I found that the course had incredibly old past MBE questions. The instructor lecturing on the subjects commented on how it was difficult to maximize on teaching with such an old style of questioning. Also, during the first month of the two-month course, essays were corrected some 2-3 weeks late. When I complained, I received a very unprofessional letter from the owner of the course that I had no right to complain. We also were expected to write our own uutlines for each subject, which took a lot of time away from other study technique. Not what I would expect with a $6,800 price tag: old MBE's, no outlines and rude emails three weeks before the bar? My girlfriend, who purchased Barmax (ipad app) had the newest of MBE's and only paid $999 for new MBE's, fabulous outlines and essays that were corrected within 3 days. If I had known what I know now, I would have looked her way before having wasted a large sum of money on Barwinners. I would be wary of that 94%* advertised bar pass rate. Read the fine print to figure why it is "their opinion" that only ABA top 30% are in that advertised pass rate. The city attorney was contacted as to this concern. 5-star reviews from Alana C and Danielle D are from tutors that worked at Barwinners while I was taking this course in 2013. Both were paid tutors in 2013. read more

I took Barwinners because all through law school I spent a lot of time creating outlines that would actually help me write the exam, and Barwinners was the only course I found that actually did this for me. I've looked at the outlines offered by other prep companies; they're great for learning and understanding the law, but they don't take you from learning the law to applying the law on the essays. The Barwinners Approach Outlines, on the other hand, take you step-by-step along the appropriate order of analysis, so you review the law in the way you would actually apply it on the exam. As part of the course, you have to submit a calendar with your daily schedule, hour by hour, up until the day of the bar. Creating the schedule is helpful in and of itself, but what makes this a very helpful assignment is that Shari and her staff actually give you feedback on it, letting you know how realistic it is and how effective it might be. In terms of the staff, Shari is great because she's passionate about what she does, and she won't hesitate to tell you how it is. If she sees you're burning out, she'll tell you to slow down. If she sees you're lagging, she'll remind you to step it up. And Anne, the administrative assistant, is hands-down one of the top three nicest individuals I have ever met (I'm not one for hyperbole, so that says a lot). The only thing to consider is whether it's been a while since you last studied the law. I took a few years off after law school before deciding to take the bar, and from my experience, I would recommend brushing up on the bar subjects before taking Barwinners. The course is really focused on practical application, so it doesn't spend a lot of time giving you background, policies, and context. For someone right out of law school or someone who has already gone through another prep course, this class is PERFECT. If you've taken some time off, just brush up a bit before taking the course and you'll be fine. read more

I just passed the CA February 2015 bar and I believe it was all due to Barwinners. I had finished law school middle bottom of my class and just failed the 2014 July bar, i had scored about a 1300. I had taken Barbri for the previous bar and switched over to Kaplan. My essays would never get above a 60 based on Kaplan's graders (or barbri's the year previously). After the final practice test i still couldn't break a 60 on an essay and my scores had gone down overall. Not what you want to see going into the bar and needless to say I was freaking out. I heard about bar winners through a friend who had a similar experience and another who was taking the course. I spoke with Shari and I decided that despite the high price tag for a 2 hour private session, I had nothing to lose but more time and energy (and $$$) wasted studying for another bar. I thought that at least I would have peace of mind that I had done everything in my power to pass and these additional funds in the long scheme of money spent on lawschool and the bar (twice) is really just one percentage point of my total costs. To pass after spending the additional bucks would be the best ROI ever. I went with the idea to be a sponge and take everything they said as the word of God. within minutes the team had read my previous essays and found my problem with my essays. I was shown their methods and all the little tips and tricks to save those precious seconds during the bar. Of my study group I was the only one who didn't check right at 6:00 p.m. When I checked my phone I saw a slew of messages which basically said that all the members in my study group had failed again. I did not want to even check having labeled myself as the dumb one because my score from the July bar was the lowest. I finally checked hours later and found to my astonishment that my name MATTHEW CRAIG BRIGGS was on the list for the CA Feb 2015 bar examination. I was the only one who took bar winners and truly think that without their advice and encouragement I would not have had the confidence to pass. I cannot speak to their other programs but those who's writing is lacking can and should take advantage of them and pass this stupid test. read more

I enrolled in Barwinners for the past July 2013 CA Bar Exam. This was my second time sitting for the bar exam. While I don't have my results yet, I can honestly say that I felt better prepared than I had felt with the previous bar exam course I had taken for the February 2013 bar exam. During the July 2013 bar exam, I didn't have to think about how I was going to structure my essays because Barwinners had stressed to me how important it was to have everything memorized. I already had the headings and sub-headings memorized before I even began to write. Moreover, Barwinners taught me how to handle an essay if I became stuck or could not remember the rule of law. This did happen to me on the last go around but I felt calm throughout the exam knowing that I could still tackle the issues. Private tutoring significantly helped me to understand exactly what bar exam graders are looking for. Barwinners gives you the confidence you need but also allows you to overcome any significant hurdles that may be in your way. I highly recommend Barwinners for anyone especially for repeat takers. "I would highly recommend BARWINNERS to those looking to tackle the California Bar Exam. I began Daniel Garrett's program during my third attempt at passing the exam. Knowing the law is not sufficient to pass this exam. You need to be able to apply that law to the facts at hand in a clear and concise manner. Daniel and his program were there for me every step of the way with his individualized and straight forward approach. He taught me how to improve upon the writing skills I already possessed, and he gave me new skills necessary to clearly communicate my knowledge and application of the law. Daniel has wonderful insight of what bar exam graders are looking for in essays and the performance test. I also struggled with the MBEs throughout law school, but Daniel taught me a straightforward way to approach the MBE. With his MBE approach, I was able to focus on what the question is really asking/testing while not getting bogged down or diverted by distractions in the question. Most importantly, Daniel was a supportive and constructive tutor. His critiques and comments on the essays were exceedingly helpful and focused on my specific weak points. In my first two attempts, I used BarBri bar review and felt their style was not personalized enough. Daniel makes sure that you know you are more than just a number with his individualized program. When the time came to sit for the exam, I felt prepared and I passed. I highly recommend this program to those facing this exam." - Christina Wilson, Esq.
