I have been a patient of Dr. Malina's for over 7 years and highly recommend him. When I first saw him, I had a bulging disk and tremendous sciatic pain that had not responded to chiropractic treatment or physical therapy. I went to see Dr. Malina as an alternative to surgery. He was able to completely resolve the bulging disk in 4 visits. It was such a huge relief - anyone who has suffered with sciatica or back pain understands how debilitating chronic pain can be. It was nothing short of miraculous in my opinion. Over the years I have gone back to Dr. Malina for various other injuries and ailments and each time he has provided tremendous relief and a complete resolution of the problem. If he cannot help whatever condition you have, he'll tell you. If you need additional tests or an X-ray etc, he'll tell you so that he can make a decision about whether he can treat you or not. He's very cautious and puts you and your health first. He's doesn't take insurance, but he's worth every penny. I've referred several friends and family to him and he's always provided them the same care and concern that I've been given. He has a true gift. His treatments are relaxing and restorative. His office staff are extremely nice and very professional. I cannot recommend Dr. Malina enough. I first saw Dr. Malina about 15 years ago. I was in terrible pain; I could hardly stand up. I was actually crying when I was in his office. His magic touch slipped whatever was out of place back where it belonged. I did need a second visit to get everything completely back to normal. My husband and Mother-in-Law have had similar experiences over the years. About a year ago something happened. I'm not sure what I did but the pain in my hip and knee kept getting worse and worse. I finally decided to do something about it and was so pleased to see that Dr. Malina was still in business. He was able to see me the following day. He spent nearly two hours with me, getting my history and locating the source of my pain. I'm not surprised that I was no longer limping as I walked to my car. I waited two weeks to write this review because I wasn't sure if I'd need another visit. So far so good! My thigh muscle hurts a little, but I'm pretty sure that's because things were out of whack for so long. I can't explain how he does it, but he is very gentle. I have been going to Dr. Malina for 12 years now. I was referred to him by my primary care physician. She told me that he is the Doctor that all the other doctors go to. She told me she could send me to physical therapy for 6 more months or I could go and see him 1 or 2 times. The physical therapy didn't provide any improvement so I went to Dr. Malina and it was the best decision I ever made. 2 visits and my pain was gone. Over the past 12 years, I have recomended Dr. Malina to my friends and family and all have been satisfied. Dr. Malina has a special gift and he can diagnose you and treat you like nobody else. I have walked into his office in severe pain and left with complete relief. His treatment is extremely gentle and relaxing and I fall asleep almost every single time I am there. If you can afford to pay out of pocket, I would HIGHLY suggest giving his office a call. You will not be disappointed and you can rest easy that you will get the absolute best care. Dr. Malina is very cautious and will not treat you if he feels that you need sign off from another physician. I think that sometimes patients are unhappy about this but he will always put your health and safety first. I cannot sufficiently communicate how much he has helped me with any physical pain I have expereinced in the past 12 years. Dr. Malina has helped me through three auto accidents over the past 20 years and I've seen him relieve pain from patients with terminal cancer and fibromyalgia. He truly understands the human body and treats the cause, not just the symptoms. He always explains what the issues are and he takes time with every patient. As someone who reads reviews to help me find new services, I try to write them in ways that may prove helpful and informative to others. Dr Malina is not just an ordinary DO. He's a specialist with training and knowledge I don't understand, but a process and application of care that treats and heals above and beyond in ways that work even if I can't explain them. I know that sounds vague, but I've been to DOs in NYC, AZ and CA, and only Dr. Malina treats me with the intention to get me well for the long term, while addressing my pain and problems in the short term. Even though a first appointment may take some time to get, being very in demand, as Dr. Malina is, is a proven sign of expertise and effectiveness. I urge you to take the time to see him, but come prepared for a unique, methodical approach that you just don't see any more in medicine and healthcare today. I've been seeing Dr. Malina for 4 years, ever since I sustained a severe injury. I've gotten to know Dr. Malina and his staff (Sandy and Mary) very well and I just love them. I highly recommend them to all my friends and family. Dr. Malina was the first physician to actually listen to me and believe that I wasn't faking my injury. He helped me survive two years of extreme pain until I could convince a surgeon to operate on me. I've seen six other D.O.'s in the valley, all with the same specialty, and none of them were able to alleviate my pain symptoms. Some of them made my pain much worse. Dr. Malina has regularly taken me from an 8/10 pain to a 4/10. I truly believe he has a gift. Unlike other physicians he is humble, knows his limits, is not afraid of saying "I don't know," and will refer out if he's unsure of something. He is a big advocate of combining his treatments with physical therapy because without strengthening and neuromuscular re-education his treatments are only temporary. Dr. Malina only does osteopathic manipulation, which is what I was looking for. Apparently, he is not very good even at just that. I saw him a handful of times and at first really liked him. Then when my pain persisted but he could not "find" anything, he told me he wasn't sure he could help (you have to appreciate when someone knows their limits). Shortly after I saw my PT who is amazing and she found a laundry list of things to work on and I got great improvement. So I was pretty turned off by someone who has been to medical school and practicing for decades that couldn't find what my PT did in less than 2 minutes in an entire 45 minute appointment. I didn't plan to return to Malina except under extenuating circumstances (my PT is booked months in advance so hard to get in on short notice). About a week ago, I was almost hit by another car. There was no impact thankfully but I still had to slam on the brakes and all that comes along with that. Today I went to see Dr. Malina and halfway through his exam he said he couldn't treat me because I hadn't first been to the ER. I have a chronic neurological condition that causes burning, tingling, and numbness, especially in my extremities. He knows this. I have explained it multiple times and again today. He always seems confused no matter how clear I am. So when he asked me about it, I again told him it is always there, sometimes worse than others. I receive an IV medication for it and when it is almost time for my next infusion, my symptoms are always worse (infusion tomorrow). He said he is not knowledgeable about neurology and refused to treat me since I hadn't gotten an okay from an ER. Pretty frightening when you know more about neurology than a doctor. I am disgusted that he would turn someone in pain away. I am extremely responsible and know my body very well. If I was even remotely concerned about a nerve injury I would have gone to the ER a week ago when it happened. I am just sore/needing some body work. However I guess there is always a silver lining and in this case it's that I don't waste any more time and money with someone who has such a low level of knowledge about medicine. He is basically a chiropractor, except that my chiropractor a year out of school is much more competent. There are much better practitioners in the valley, don't bother with Malina. read more
