Kate talked with us in advance to work out locations and our vision for the session--poses, style, timing, light, everything. The session itself was so fun! Not only did Mike and Kate literally get up at the crack of dawn so we could have sunrise photos on the beach, they made us feel super comfortable and relaxed the entire time. They helped us with posing, made us laugh so we looked and felt natural, and got down into the sand and water to ensure that we all got the shots we wanted. And we definitely did get the shots we wanted--we have tons of them printed and framed around our house! Even though Kate and Mike can't shoot our wedding for us (we're all the way across the country!), because we trust Kate's opinion so much, her input in selecting a photographer for our wedding was invaluable to us. She was a huge help, and really took our needs into account throughout the whole process. We highly recommend that anyone who has the chance work with Mike and Kate for their wedding, event, or portraits take it--they're awesome. We love them!

My initial Google search provided me studio photography options that just weren't my style. What happened next was fate. I did an image search, and came across a vibrant photo taken at American Tobacco Campus. Who was behind the camera for THAT? Turns out it was Ms. Carolyn Scott! I looked at her website and fell in love with her portfolio. My benchmark for photographers are children's photos - if you can photograph children, you can photograph anything. Her family photography looks so natural and captures each member perfectly. Sold. Contacting her was easy, and chatting with her was like catching up with an old friend. I decided to do a full branding session because I wanted to be photographed in 2 different outfits - one for my professional branding, the other to celebrate my 34th birthday. The session itself was so much fun. It's natural to feel a bit nervous at first, but she's very good at helping you relax and feel your best. I use my photographs for everything from LinkedIn and Zoom profile pics to social media and my blog. Highly recommend.

She shared that she had really developed as a photographer using it as a form of therapy after facing postpartum depression. My respect for her grew tremendously when she shared that so openly after only knowing me for a short while. During the session she was mentoring a fellow photographer, "a way to pay it forward" - and again, I think this speaks volumes about her character. Her studio was gorgeous - tons of natural light with large windows and comfy chairs. I loved that it didn't take a ton of props and "glamour shot" type set up to get started. I think too many times people go over the top with child photography but Corey kept it simple and made sure our daughter was having fun. This in turn really captured her in a way that showed who she is - beautiful inside, too. In terms of Corey's demeanor and work - she was incredibly sweet, patient, patient, professional, and great with our little one. She even shared some snacks to get her "camera ready." Corey did an awesome job of just naturally capturing our little girl's spirit and personality. She didn't try to force anything and really knew when things were and weren't working. We look forward to working with Corey again in the future and would recommend Glee and Bliss to anyone looking for quality photos of their child!

As a bit of an amature photographer myself, I wanted her to tell me her secrets to get the the colors and the lighting so perfect, and how she made her subjects look so good. She showed me a few things, but I think kept most of it secret! I highly recommend her for anyone looking for a photographer who focuses on capturing images of people as her primary subjects.
