I absolutely love everything about this office. All of the staff from the receptionists, the…read morehygienists, and Dr. Hanway are so wonderful with their kind, proficient care to their (sometimes not so cooperative) patients. They take their time to educate both parents and children on good oral hygiene and make going to the dentist fun! Dr. Shawn is up to date on the newest dental procedures and treatment options, and truly cares about her patients and their health. After several bad experiences at another pediatric dentist office, I was overjoyed to find Tallahassee Pediatric Dentistry and will never take my children anywhere else. I cannot say enough good things about this place, it's genuinely the best in Tallahassee for pediatric dental care!

When you arrive, you are required to enter with a mask, check in with sanitizer handy and all staff wearing masks. Once you check your child in, you are to wait in your car until they text when your child is finished. When exiting the building, wipes are provided with a notice encouraging patrons to use one to exit. Once I received the text my son was finished, I was greeted by the dentist to show me important areas to pay attention to on my son's x-rays. Dr. Hanway was personable and made the visit helpful and efficient. The entire staff is sweet and kind, which is necessary in a pediatric geared business. I am happy to say our switch to another dentist was a smooth transition and we are happy with the change!

This review may be lengthy, but will be worth the read. I'm a registered ER nurse of 21yrs. I…read morehave traveled and have worked at some of the best facilities in the nation. I've meet and worked with all doctors from pediatrics to geriatrics, ortho, plastic ect, you name it, I've seen it. I'm visiting my family in PC traveling from California when I broke a tooth, and my pain was a 9/10. A dentist referred me to an oral surgeon and prescribed me Tylenol and ibuprofen. Here's where nursing comes into play. Tylenol is weight based and maxed out at 20mg per Kg. And Ibuprofen is maxed at 10mg per Kg. I weigh 275 lbs. So I'm 125kg. My dose of Tylenol is 2,500mg and Ibuprofen is 1,250mg, but here's the problem. Maximum on Tylenol is only 1,000mg per dose which is only 40%, so I'm under dosed by 60%, I max out with Ibuprofen at 800mg per dose which is 65% and 35% under dosing. How is this supposed to help? They would NOT prescribe me any thing stronger and I was in horrible pain. I called the oral surgeon and they were booking into late July and August, but this was an emergency and the surgeon's office didn't care at all to try to fit me in asap. I called the dentist back to get help finding another surgeon and they told me to just call around and offered no help whatsoever. I sought out another dentist with the exact same results, no pain control, only under dosing and a referral, with no follow up help. Enter Dr. Ortiz: I called their office, explained my situation (this was Tuesday). he receptionist was so nice, as she is looking to book an appointment a girl in the background said that some had cancelled for Wednesday, which I don't think most places would have done that, they would have just book me with the next opening. So I went the next day, and met "the man" Dr. Ortiz. When I first saw him as I arrived in the office he was was escorting a patient out with a nurse so he could hold the door for him. What a gentleman...... When I met him I was even more impressed, he said I was his brothers age and thought of me as his brother. Folks, this is an amazing man. He went through about 5 different options that he had for me. He explained all options along with the pros and cons. He prescribed me pain meds on that visit which was actually appropriate for my weight and pain level, and he gave me his cell number to call at anytime 24/7 if I had any problems. We decided on a procedure but the next big question was how long before he could do this? Ladies and gentlemen, the was on a Wednesday, I was out of the office the next day by 9:30 am, procedure complete, done, no more pain!!!!! His staff before during and after my procedure were top notch, nothing but professional, I was incredibly impressed which isn't often. I received a call later that day by the nurse who had genuine concern and care about me, and then a text from Dr Ortiz himself following up. This is the best medical experience I've ever encountered in my life. Dr. Ortiz and his entire staff deserve a standing ovation for the job they do individually that makes the whole office sparkle with enthusiasm and professionalism.. God bless you Dustin B.

I felt like nothing more than a quick cash grab and here are few of my grievances. I specifically requested NO narcotics for my recovery from surgery. I was instead prescribed twelve Hydrocodone that were included in my prescriptions upon pick up. I advocated for myself and my medical history in this office and I was ignored. I then got a follow up bill 5 months after my visit informing me that I owed them over $2,000 for the medical code being used for sedation. This was after I had paid in full for my surgery at the time it was performed. This was doubly frustrating as I had requested preferably no sedation and just a topical or localized analgesic. The doctor was adamant I needed to be put under. After calling my insurance and verifying the codes, not only did I not owe money... but I was overcharged. I have now been waiting over five weeks for my owed refund. The first check was sent to the wrong address because even though I spent the time to update my address on my forms during office visits, it was never properly entered into their system. I can't in good faith recommend this practice and would recommend traveling a city or two over for your oral and facial surgery needs as that would be an easier process in my opinion.
