    I tried to go in for my appointment today with X at Westrow. This was my second visit to the Salon…read moreand I returned because previously, I had received excellent service. Unfortunately, that was not the case on this visit. A little background, I scheduled today's appointment last Saturday. I went in, in person and let them do their skin test since I had requested color and cut. So this morning, the day of my appointment I received a call at 10:30 asking if I had done the skin test. Not a big deal - I offered to come in early to show them my skin test card. The other half which was their copy they lost. So I went in at 11:00 and showed them the card and offered to wait there until my appointment - I didn't demand to be seen early or anything else. I waited patiently. A little bit later the assistant comes over and asks if I would like to come back and get the gown on. I went back only expecting to be seated and prepped. This is when I met X. From the beginning she was confrontational. When she asked me what I wanted I told her I wanted some highlights and color to lighten my hair for the summer. Then she pulled a face and said she only had me down for all over color today and didn't have time for highlights and the only reason why I was being seen today is because her last appointment didn't show up. I told her I had scheduled my appointment last week for today at 11:30. At this time now it's about 11:15 only a short while for my appointment, but if she couldn't do the highlights she could just cut my hair and I would come back in. She told me to wait while she checked her schedule. Fair enough I said, and asked to see the color book to pick an all over color. She brought me the color book and laid it out and told me she didn't have time for highlights. That was not a problem but she made it one when she became extra unhelpful telling me the color I wanted was too light for my hair and since I had a darker color in my hair it wouldn't be even and instead of suggesting alternatives she just made a bunch of excuses why she couldn't do what I wanted. I didn't think I was asking for anything too difficult and the color I picked out was a brownish blond. I have brown hair. It's not a big stretch. This isn't my first time having color done - I'm 29 years old and I've been coloring my hair since I was 16. I've never in my life been treated so rudely in a salon. Eventually I gave up on the color and told her it was fine and just to cut my hair. My hair is all the way down my back to my butt and it's hot outside. I would of just been happy with that to be honest. So she took my pony tail out and asked me how short I wanted it. i told her I wanted 3 inches taken off and just to trim it around to take the dead ends off and thin it out. She then looked really puzzled because she noticed that my hair had previously been cut to frame around my face so of course it wasn't all the same length and this seemed to be another issue she didn't have time to deal with. I have very fine hair and alot of it. I think perhaps it just seemed like a really big job for her. I told her it was ok she didn't have to cut my hair either and I proceeded to get up and take the gown off and leave. It was so frustrating and she was so incredibly rude and unhelpful and to be honest I wasn't comfortable with her and didn't feel like she was at all interested. I asked the girl at reception - who is always very sweet and very helpful to have the owner call me. We'll see if that happens though. I expected to spend about £200 to £300 today getting my hair done and I tip pretty decent as well. I also live in walking distance. I'm not sure how many customers the owner plans on pissing off and having walking out of their salon never to return again, but I certainly wont be made to feel like I'm asking for the moon and being rushed when I've made my appointment well in advance and plan to spend good money in their business. I would of been ok if X had simply told me she wasn't experienced enough to handle my hair. As I think that's the bottom line here. She simply didn't know what she was doing. I would offered to set up another appointment with another stylist and Westrow could of retained my business. I'm very dissapointed as I try and support the local businesses around me because I feel they offer a better service and are an important part of the little community here.

The salon is light and airy. The hair washing is wonderful, with a great scalp massage too. Although pricey, the haircuts are good, time is spent on them and you don't feel as if you're being rushed in and out in oder to empty the chair for the next customer.

    One star is being kind…read more.. I needed a good hair cut and don't have a regular hairdresser so I chose to book at Toni and Guy because of its good reputation. I arrived and was greeted, my coat was taken and I was sat in the chair (all fine so far). I wasn't offered a drink as I know is the usual procedure but I didn't mind... I was taken to the sinks to get my hair washed (this was actually quite unnecessary, but they failed to notice that my hair was already wet from just being washed at home). The girl gave me a quick hair wash but used too little conditioner and failed to leave it on my hair for more than 10 seconds. This unfortunately resulted in very unmanagable hair, so when it came to the cut the gentleman was pulling vigorously at my very fine hair to untangle it. I was actually in a lot of pain which I made very clear by my expression and occasional 'ouch' noises. He carried on regardless without batting an eyelid or trying any products to help, breaking most of my hairs along the way. At one point I was ready to get up and just leave. For the cut itself I had been very specific about what I wanted, I even gave photos. It didn't seem to matter though... He just gave me what I call 'the bog standard cut' (what hairdressers do when they really have no idea what you actually want). The end result was a mess. Parts of the cut look like I have just had a go at it myself! Really dissapointed to say the least. I didn't complain in store though for the simple reason that I didn't want him to try and 'fix' it but end up making it worse. I can honestly say this is the worst hairdressing experience I have had. I am sorry that I didn't mention it in store to give them a chance to fix it, but I just really didn't feel like he cared much anyway. Sorry but maybe the guy needs a bit more training...

Very happy with the result and will certainly be returning. This was my first visit to this salon and I am very glad I went.

    I will definitely not be going here again! I fancied a complete hair change so took a photo of a…read morenew style and colour that I wanted to the salon and told them that's what I'd like. They told me that they could do it but it wouldn't be exactly the same which was fine. I booked myself in and had my appointment only to be extremely disappointed with the results. I'd spent over £100 (that includes a 20% discount) to have my hair cut and coloured and you couldn't even tell that I'd had anything done, all that had happened was that my chocolate brown hair now looked mousey brown. I told the stylist that I was extremely disappointed and rightly so she booked me in again to have some more colour put in. I had my second appointment which left me with ginger looking hair on top (I'm naturally a rich chocolate brown and basically wanted blonde put in to give my hair a sunkissed look). Again I was disappointed and pointed out that my hair now had a horrible all over colour rather than blonde bits in it like I had asked for and showed in the picture. I then booked in again for a third appointment. When I arrived for my third appointment I was met with a frosty welcome. The stylist was lovely and remained so throughout however the owner was a complete pig. He accused me of changing my mind about my hair style throughout the treatments even though I had brought a picture in of what I wanted and had not digressed from that at any point. He also said "ok we'll tone it but that's it we won't do anymore with it, as a business owner you've cost me a fortune". He couldn't care less that my hair was a mess even though he knew that it's important for my job to have good hair. So basically I'd gone in to Halo with a photo of what I wanted, paid over £100 to have it done and ended up with gingery light brown hair that was so far removed from what I had originally asked for. The stylist did tone my hair but it certainly wasn't what I had wanted or paid for. The stylist did want to make sure that I was happy with my hair but the owner wasn't keen on letting her do that. Before my third appointment, just after the owner had said that they wouldn't do anymore to my hair even if it wasn't fixed after this appointment, I asked the owner for a refund because I wanted to go somewhere else to get my hair sorted out but he just said "no way, not now". Surely if you mess someone's hair up you should give them a refund. Aside from the fact that they have completely ruined my hair and I've wasted all of that money, I've had to get someone to look after my baby on four separate days this week whilst I try to get my hair back to a respectable state. I ended up having to have my hair done at West Row in Wetherby and I'm over the moon with it. They could instantly see how the colour was no where near like the photo I had and told me how they would rectify it. They have managed to put all the blonde bits in my hair that Halo told me wouldn't be possible and they made my hair look great, just as I had wanted. This was supposed to be a complete change and happy experience that has just been so stressful and extremely expensive as I've ended up having to pay twice to get my hair done. Had the manager not have been so rude they may have redeemed themselves a bit but his rudeness and lack of care about the mess my hair was in was just the final straw for me. I will definitely not be recommending this salon to anyone at all! It's expensive and when it goes wrong they're not interested in putting it right. As far as I'm concerned I showed them what I wanted and was told they'd get my hair similar but it was no where near what I asked for and the owner had no interest in making sure it was sorted, he just wanted me out. I have contacted them to show them images of my hair after West Row had done it but they still aren't willing to rectify the situation by refunding what I had to spend at West Row. Until the ginger grows out of my hair I am now going to have to have it toned every six weeks, absolutely gutted, what a mess!
