We found this cute little Irish pub on a side street. It's kind of non descript on the outside and a dark moody interior. The pub was a good reprieve from the rainy afternoon. A lot of people came in for a pit stop. I was glad to have a different beer from the German beers. read more

After taking a bicycle rickshaw tour of Cologne (with Michael on the Cycle, which was THEE BEST tour!) & then our own tour of the famous Cologne Cathedral, we were both very thirsty &, after being ignored at 1 Cafe, we ran into Michael again, upon my husband's request, he took us to the Irish Pub, Barney Valleley's, at Kleine Budengasse 7-11, 50667 Köln, Germany, for a cold beer. We intended to stsh for 1 round but, the bartender (from Australia) & the patrons, along with Michael, were just so much fun we stayed over 2 hours & probably would have stayed longer if we hadn't had to return to our ship. The place is small with a big personality! Clean. Good stout. We didn't eat, other than some Walker's Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips (Yummmm) but, we did leave a couple of American dollars on the wall to go with the rest of the bills. Just a VERY fun time which capped off a fantastic tour & day! If in Cologne & just want to relax, have a cold drink in a comfortable, FRIENDLY place, go to Valleley's Irish Pub near old Town. Excellent neighborhood Irish bar. Can't overstate it, but is it truly a nice place to meet and hang out for several pints. Cheers!

This place is not a pub, but a bar-no food. However, they have an excellent staff of friendly bartenders and the place is very welcoming. They will gladly give you their wifi password so, if you're bored and by yourself, you can at least use your phone-unlike some of the other Irish places (calling you out, Corkonian). The place is a little small, but there are TVs to watch the game. All-in-all, I recommend it if you're just looking for a pint or three and want a friendly place to hang out. read more

I went to this place with a buddy who has been here before. When we walked in, there were quite a few folks from Australia watching a rugby game on the main screen. We joined in the party with a couple of Kilkinny draws. Great atmosphere. After about 20 minutes of drinking, they moved the rugby to the small TV at the front of the bar and played soccer on the rest of the TVs. This made no sense -- Aside from the Aussies, there were only a small handful of others at the bar. Needless to say, the whole bar shifted to the front little L. Oh well, we had a couple more beers and enjoyed the atmosphere. All in all - good bar with friendly staff. We came back later on in the day for a couple more beers. read more

Great pub with the true Guinness from Dublin. No food- but an native Irishman serving drinks at the bar.
