This Barnes and Noble location used to be my main study spot when I was still in high school. There are many tables that are available for you to sit at and the inside is very spacious. The staff is also pretty nice and helpful if you had any questions. The only reason why I'm giving them four stars is because there are no outlets available if you had to charge your laptop or cell phone which is a bit of a hassle since most people usually use electronics for their studying. So, the interesting thing here is that I didn't visit this location because it was Barnes & Noble and they seem to be closing up all over the country. I actually visited here because I found out they actually had the JUST egg bagel which I had been looking for all over the country. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was in Harvey, LA of all places. The establishment was also very big, clean, well lit, and had a great ambiance to it. Childhood favorite, always had to pass by here once a month to check out the new book selection. Even though there might be cheaper places I still like passing by occasionally, The service is quick and you'll never get pushy up-sells. read more

It feels weird to review a "chain" bookstore in New Orleans, when there are so many awesome "homegrown" bookstores in the city, but this is the one I go to, so there it is. I find myself in B&N at least once or twice a month. They are always having fantastic sales and the staff has always been incredibly friendly and eager to help me find anything I may be looking for. I like that they have a lot of art books (and some really obscure ones) and they have a huge section dedicated to books by local authors and about the city. I would love for a local bookstore to pop up in my neck of the woods, but until that happens, I am happy to call this place a favorite. read more

ATTN: this is a BARNES & NOBLES with a BARNES & NOBLES cafe, that serves Starbucks Coffee, BUT IT'S NOT a Starbucks Store. Culture shock 101. I handed the cashier my Starbucks card & she informed me of the not-so-obvious (well at least not to me). But despite that little #snafu; the atmosphere, the food, folks & fun is GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!!! I had a seasonal Starbucks drink & as expected, it was tantalizing!!!!! I hate to say that this is such a sub-par Starbucks. The service has never been awesome. It really bothers me when baristas do the 2/3 full coffee. This place seems to make it a habit. It is, however, very convenient that they are located in Barnes and noble. If you're here any time between 3-5 on a weekday it's filled with teenagers who just kind of park it at all the tables after school and take advantage of the free water. Rather annoying if you'd like to sit down for a couple of minutes after spending $10+ on coffee. read more

Literature holds a special place in my heart. It always has and it always will. Books have enabled me to break free from the monotonous chains of my daily life and escape to distant lands, engage in wondrous albeit impossible adventures and become acquainted with a seemingly endless assortment of people, animals and many other forms of life, history and culture. For me, there are few pleasures more gratifying than discovering a great, old book sitting atop a dusty shelf within an even older book shop. I find the very scent of old printer ink upon aging yellowed paper to be as intoxicating as a koala of its favorite treat, the eucalyptus. As I've gotten older, I've built myself a very personal wealth of knowledge comprised from my books; my very own Library of Alexandria, if you will. In an effort to give back what books have given me for so long, I'd like to share with you a poem that I wrote in high school, which I find whimsical, humorous and plays with our perceptions. Convenient location on the Westbank, since I live in M'Ro. They have a little bit of everything in stock. Okay, they have a LOT of everything in stock. Looking for something obscure? They can probably get it for you. In fact, if you don't want the enjoyment of browsing for a book, you can pick one out online and they will pull it for you. This way, it is there waiting to be picked up at the checkout. I've done this on more than one occasion. Most recently, I just ran in to purchase a gift card for a family member's birthday. It was a super quick in-and-out trip, as the gift cards are located by the checkout. Oh, and the cashier was even nice enough to suggest I take one of their free gift card boxes to place it in - something that had not caught my eye until she mentioned it. I have yet to have a bad experience at this B&N. read more

I enjoy my shopping experience at Barnes and Noble. I usually go their for children's books. I love the way they have an area set up for children. I like the area by the stage where there is a seating area for kids and parents to sit. It's an extra plus because you can sit, read and have a cup of coffee in the Starbucks that's attach... This store has something for everyone. There isn't one close to me, so I will drive at least 30 min. to go there. It is heaven. It has a little Starbucks type coffee shop where you can sit and leaf through your potential purchases while you sip away on your beverage. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. If you can not find a book, just go to the information booth in the center of the store and they will look it up and help you find it. The kiddy section is great. There is a great selection of books, magazines, music, diaries, book marks, journals....I can spend hours in this store! read more
