We had some time to kill before attending a movie and stopped here. The book inventory was pretty good, but man the prices for books here are obscenely high. I had some sticker shock at the cash register ($43 for the book I selected). This location has a cafe, as well as a wide assortment of toys and non-book gifts. If you were seeking a gift for that hard to purchase person, this might be a place worth exploring. read more

I browsed around this Barnes & Noble while waiting to pickup my takeout order nearby. When I'm not looking for a particular book here, I love just looking around at the seasonal displays, the novelties and the sale/clearance items. The atmosphere there was nice. I got to spend time with my family and study, and I noticed there was book club to the right of me. I love Barnes and noble. It is calm and great to support brick and mortar businesses. The food is okay, my mom said she had her food at 3 pm and wasn't hungry for dinner. They also have deals occasionally like premium Barnes and noble members can upgrade their drink size for free. read more

I like this Barnes & Noble. I dropped by the store twice on my recent trip to the Twin Cities. This bookstore-cafe combo was a five-minute drive from the hotel where I was staying. I love a good bookstore. It's located at Eagan Promenade, which is a plaza with a number of box stores and eateries. There was plenty of parking. I parked and walked in. I was happy. To my right was the cafe. It sells Starbucks coffee. It also has baked goods and fancy meals. I looked at the cool collections of Brown and friends, Pusheen, Snoopy, Harry Potter, and other merchandise. I really liked these building sets of famous skylines that you can build, such as The Bund in Shanghai. While I was browsing, a woman from the cafe came over to me with samples of a strawberries and cream drink. I had never seen that before and had to snap a photo of the tray with pretty drinks. I then took a sample and thanked her. It was yummy. I liked the freeze-dried strawberry on top. It took a while to browse the books. I was in fiction for the longest time. I then moved over to the cookbooks and then the discount book section. I can spend hours in a bookstore and be perfectly content. I ended up getting a Pusheen water bottle. It was adorable that I had to get it. I had never seen one before. I went to pay for it at the cashier. She was nice and asked if I needed a bag. I said yes, as I didn't want the water bottle to get any scratches. I also got a coupon to buy a cookie at the cafe and get another one for free. This deal sounded good to me. It was the main reason why I returned the following day. The cafe had discounted chocolate. I ended up getting a matcha green tea latte white chocolate bar for under $2. I had never seen this flavour in my life. I went to the counter and presented my cookie coupon. I got lemon blueberry and Reese's peanut butter cup cookies. There was only one woman working the cafe, but she was sweet and nice. I got my cookies in two separate bags. I also paid for my chocolate bar there with cash. I ate one cookie back at the hotel and one on the plane heading back home. The lemon blueberry cookie was bright and cheerful. It was yummy. I was happy with the slight tartness of the lemon with the pops of blueberry flavour in each bite. It is a seasonal flavour. I had the Reese's peanut butter cup cookie on the flight. It tastes so good with a Diet Coke. It was crispy and chewy where it should be. I indulged and was in heaven. I would definitely get this cookie again. I have since used my Pusheen water bottle. It keeps hot water hot for well over eight hours. I haven't tried cold beverages yet. I still haven't had the chocolate bar, either. I will soon. (111) read more

This Barnes and noble has a nice quiet environment to sit and do work or read your brand new book in. The store is clean and has a good selection of books to choose from. However this Barnes and nobles is a lot smaller than the one in the mall of America. read more

As far as BNs go, this one is fine. The staff are friendly enough. The have a decent book selection but not nearly as extensive as Borders. I hope a few independents popup. As the reviews indicate, this is really more of a Starbucks with lots of studying going on. read more

I'm a fan of Barnes & Noble - I come from a family of very avid readers, and I bet I've spent hundreds of dollars in that store! However, my husband and I are both very angry after an incident with the management at the Barnes & Noble in Eagan, MN. About two weeks ago my husband and I purchased a book and a box of Godiva chocolates for my mother's birthday. We purchased both items from the Eagan Barnes & Noble. My mother called me last night and said that, when she opened the box of chocolates, they had turned "whitish" and it was obvious that at some point they had begun to melt. GROSS! We had already tossed our receipt, but my husband decided to go talk to the management at this particular Barnes & Noble. After all, Godiva chocolates are expensive! We made the purchase with a credit card, so you would think that the store would have a copy of our transactions. Anyway, when my husband spoke to the manager at the Barnes & Noble, she was not apologetic and told him that there was "nothing they could do" and that the "whitish" tint and melting could have occurred after we bought it. WHAT?! We literally gave the chocolates to my mom a week after we purchased them. They were not exposed to any sort of "extreme" conditions, and the expiration date on the box was 12-2-2009! It would seem to me that the chocolates were not being stored properly prior to our purchasing them. But, Barnes & Noble refuses to give us our money back or give us a new box of chocolates. How's that for maintaining customer relations? I guess my next step is to contact Godiva about the problem. read more

I am sure there is marketing science that goes into what genres to feature in specific locals. This B&N seems to be quite skewed though! They have 2 full, front and back, shelves devoted to Christian books and nothing on other popular areas (alternative spirituality, glbt). I guess this is what you get when you shop at a big chain store in a MN burb. I will stick to independent book stores in the metro, thank you very much! Caveat: B&N in general is hard for me to review. It just seems like there are so many better places to buy books these days! I am definitely more of a book borrower (yay libraries!) or independent shop patron. That said, I was very excited to get a gift card for B&N, who doesn't like free books? read more

I love this store and wanted to balance out the reviews. I've never had any problems with staff. In fact, they've always been helpful. If they don't have an item they help me find it etc. Not sure what more you could ask of them. The store is like most other B&N but is missing the audio/video section (which is usually overpriced anyway). I love having a brick and mortar store nearby and one of my favorite things to do is get a new book, get some coffee and watch the time fly by. read more

I made a yelp account especially for this post. I am generally very relaxed with my opinion of places, it takes a lot to irk me. I've never had the need to write a review of a store before because any and all types of stores I've visited have been fairly friendly if not neutral. Not this store. I love Barnes and Nobles. I think they are a great company and offer a fine selection of books in a comfortable atmosphere. Most locations are clean and I love the cafes. That being said, I've visited the Eagan location several times and there is one worker there who is particularly rude. Several times on one occasion she snapped at me. Yes, this review is not about the cleanliness of the store itself but about the quality of customer service. This particular book-seller almost seemed to resent that I was there. I always purchase a beverage when I'm there. Like 99 percent of the time I'm holding their Starbucks drinks in my hand. On one occasion I did not have their beverage in my hand but a coffee beverage from another store. This elderly, overweight, grumpy looking lady comes up to me and completely snaps at me about it. I saw another employee there walk in with a Monster drink. WTF? "No outside beverages allowed?" And she says it with contempt and major attitude. There is not a hint of kindness, or even human-ness. As if she were incapable of speaking politely. Nobody minds being told the rules of a store as long as they are spoken to as a human being. I'm not kidding she literally glowered and hissed. It did not stop there, I left my headphones on a chair for a minute. ONE minute! While I was grabbing a book from THEIR shelf and make a purchase at THEIR register. I come back and the headphones are missing. The same lady comes back and literally SNARLS at me for leaving them in a chair! No apologies for taking them. I don't know if she felt defensive about her behavior but her attitude was completely irrational. Maybe she was on her monthly cycle. But there was Absolutely ZERO kindness, let alone customer service. I never call race on anything. Because race is hardly ever the issue, but I have observed on occasion sub-par treatment of people who are not dressed sharply or are of a color other than white who come in this store, including myself. This woman I mentioned especially talked to me as if I couldn't understand her, which is what some racist people do, especially in the mid-west. You will not catch any Barnes and Noble employee on the East Coast or West Coast speaking in such a way. I've been to several all over the states. As I've stated, I'm generally a fan of Barnes and Noble, am an avid reader, and a well-educated and very well-traveled writer. And this might be a coincidence, and again, it is Eagan we are talking about, so definately probable, but there are no employees that are not white. No black, asian, or mixed employees. I've seen more employees of color in Barnes and Nobles in Birmingham, England. yes. England. The particular employee who was rude had acne, was overweight, and looked like a bitter older woman but I suspect she might be in her 20's. You might think that is a petty thing to include in this review, but this same woman treated me injudiciously and did not give me even a word in edgewise to speak. I had not wronged her in any way, in fact she had wronged me, and I was actually smiling at her very kindly as any normal being should do when speaking with a stranger. After she barked at me her orders about the "rules of the store" I had the comic material standing in front of me to rip her apart verbally just by her very unkempt appearance, but held my tongue. Her appearance was an assault to my eyes. Yes, my eyes hurt looking at her. I think it is completely reasonable for me to remark on her appearance so that other people who visit that store can avoid asking this particular worker any questions. Ask questions to the other employees who look like they are capable of smiling. In fact, if you are not white and/or do not look as if you belong in suburbia Minnesota then I would advise you to avoid this location. There is a B&N in the Mall of America who is friendly and open to racial and socio-economic diversity. Even the one in Rosedale is nice. Both locations do not look as if they are from the pre-Dr. King era. I'm sure Eagan would not welcome LGBTQ as well. All that to say, the one star is for Barnes and Noble the company, because I have had positive experiences at other locations. (yelp also does not give you a choice, but I would given one star either way). It is also fair to say that this location is clean and fairly well kept. AND there ARE employees who are there who are kind and speak to you like a customer. I'm disappointed in Barnes and Nobles for my negative 2 or 3 experiences at this location, and I will not be visiting this particular store again. We can spend our money elsewhere. read more

I love this place, and the asmosphere here, however the book are expensive compare to Amazon, I don't know how much longer they can stand in this business. One time I order the book for instore pick up, and they got me a French version of this book. read more

If a brick and mortar bookstore wants to survive, it should offer something you can't get online. I needed a book. Went online. Found that this store was the only one in the metro who had it in stock. Drove past three closer Barnes and Nobles to get to this one. Get there. Look around. Book is sold out. It's an obscure book. Not one that likely sold in the half hour it took me to drive there. Woman at the help desk offered to order it for me. Said it would take a week and I would have to drive the half hour again to pick it up. Suffice to say, my effort to support a local brick and mortar was a failure, and Amazon got the money I tried hard to give to them. read more
