Dangerous to your diet cupcake. Smaller than they use to be, but they DON'T post the calorie count for a reason.

While not as large as the 2 story one in Ann Arbor, still a dangerous place for a librarian to go and especially for one that might have to move their collection some day. Came to get gift cards for EBS's twins birthday, but walked out with 2 books, a magazine, and 2 cupcakes. There goes my diet!! Escaped with my bank account still there. Get a membership if you can, does helps even on the cheesecake factory cupcakes. The only problem I have with the set-up is the fact that the books on GRIEF and lost of a love one is next to the books on WEDDINGS!! Whose brilliant idea was that?!?! Being a partner's widow and being reminded on what could have been or a young newlywed widow don't need that at all. I should start a compaign to get that changed. I am glad I am 6 months out instead of 1 week. Curious minds want to know where was the brains.

I always have a good experience at this location. The staff is friendly and eager to help you find what you need, but also give you your space to solo browse. The books and other merchandise are always tidy and in order, unlike some other locations I've been too. I don't visit the cafe too much, but the few times I have the staff was friendly and the drinks were yummy! If I ever want a chill day to browse new books or records, this is the first place I go to. Also I love checking out the cute tote bags in the check out line!

This is an example of the seating options at this location. Ergo, my 1 star deduction. Now does that even look comfy? Nnnno!

Popped in to peruse the newest in non fiction. I still prefer to touch the pages of a book vs swiping my fingers over a screen. I love the way books smell. Hey, don't scoff, some people love the smell of gasoline...yeah, you know who you are. The OCD in me likes the crisp untouched ones. Those books no ones has thumbed through yet. The cracking noise it makes when you open it. It's the reassuring noise that whispers to me "you are the first to touch my hard back and soft pages." I come here to cathartically appease my inner bibliophile and devirginize books. And, yes I'm very aware devirginize isn't a word. Ironic eh? Deducted a star because there aren't enough places to sit on main floor.

No couches to sit and read, only tables at cafe. Bathrooms smell.

I went in looking for a new book but didn't see it there. Staff helped me order the book and in…read moreless than a week it arrived. They called me and gave a generous two weeks to come pick in up. When I did pick it up, staff again were so friendly and helpful. I love supporting local and this place is just wonderful. Good selection of books and they make it so easy to order anything they might not have in stock.

I'm a sucker for hardcopies. I actually want to hold the book I'm reading in my hand. No kindle for…read moreme. While I should probably get a library card, when it comes to books by my favorite authors, I prefer to add them to my bookshelf permanently. I've known about this book store for a while, but I'm never in the area and I have another one a block away from where I live. That being said, I was nearby, and wanted a coffee so I swung through Kitties. That's when I realized Gramercy Books was connected by a shared wall. I love it! I browsed around, fell deep into their nice selection of plant focused books, then hunted out my favorite authors because I've been in need of a great book that I know I'll love right off the bat. That's when Kurt Vonnegut and Malcolm Gladwell come into play. Lucky for me I hadn't come across Malcolm's newest book yet and they had it. That was a must, as I have almost every other book he's written. I go back and forth on Vonnegut, non-fiction is an awesome way to escape. Being that he's from the midwest (Indy to be exact), a lot of his writings are based in the area which is fun. I was directed to the section he was in by a wonderfully helpful staff member. They had several of his writings I don't already have so I swiped one of those up too. If you're like me and prefer the OG way of diving into a good book, this book store is a lovely choice. It's definitely a locally owned one that's worth the drive.
