The twin room was small but worked for me and my mother - the beds are very comfortable! The kitchen is lovely and has nice chairs & a sofa where jetlagged visitors or insomniacs can go read a book without disturbing their traveling companion and Jeff says a day room is coming soon. Jay is a real whiz and does an amazing job keeping up the rooms the household and maintaining a beautiful garden. If you are athletic - you are only 2.75 mi walk/run from Bath University where the general public can swim in the 50m pool for only 3.25 pounds (it's an awesome pool). There's a bus line nearby and once you get your bearings - you will find it's no problem getting around but that traffic can be a bit of a bear in Bath. The bed was comfortable, the room was a good size and well furnished and the en suite shower room immaculate. The shower was large and quite powerful but the actual en suite room was a little cramped. This is not surprising since our room was sited in the roof space and this does give rise to some interesting beams! The breakfast was tasty and served in a delightfully quirky dining room, (you will understand if and when you see it!) Polite, well-managed and very comfortable I highly rate this place. The only drawback might be the windy stairs up to our room on the top floormight be too demanding if you are in any way incapacitated. I would try to secure a room on a lower floor if this might be a problem for you. Its a little expensive but its worth the extra I think

Everyone was quick to respond to questions about the food/allergies and also about the bedroom set up. When we arrived, the team was welcoming and allowed us to set up a little bit early as we had hired a private room. The private room was expensive but it was a holiday weekend so understandable. Everyone was very happy with their food. Our large group ordered a variety of à la carte and set menu items. Most of the party had the beef shin and loved it. The burger was absolutely delicious too. The desserts were a good size and not too sweet at the end of a big meal. The food was reasonably priced but the sides of veggies were a bit ridiculous. We paid £14 for a few pieces of broccolini! The ambiance was great though and it was just the perfect place to throw a surprise party. There is no parking at the Angel, but there's a big car park about a 5-7 minute walk away (pay when you park). There is street parking much closer, but it got very busy after 10am and the roads are very small to navigate if you're not used to driving in this area. The hotel rooms were so quaint and cosy (very Harry Potter vibes). We have some very tall family members who had to crouch down a lot but it definitely added to the ambience. Our only bad experience and criticism was over breakfast the following morning. The service was terrible (it was not the same team as the previous day) and they were not particularly friendly. One breakfast came out about 30 minutes before the rest. I then went to ask if there was a problem and suddenly all the rest came out, but every dish was extremely cold and had clearly been sitting on the side as the sauce on the eggs benedict had set. We would have sent it back but as it took so long we only had a few minutes to check out of our rooms once everyone had finished. This would have been a 5 star review otherwise. As we were leaving, some of the lunch staff from the day before were coming and immediately greeted us again. Much better customer service! Overall a great experience but definitely let down by the morning staff.

We made a reservation, to which we arrived slightly early. The place was empty (about 6.30pm), but by the time we left a few hours later, it was bustling. I had the vegan tempura starter, eggroll main (which I'm still thinking about), and the plum rice pudding dessert (which I sadly had to share with my partner). I'd eat all of it again. And again. And again. My partner had the scallop starter (on specials menu) which he describes as "divine". And he loved his lamb main so much that he actually started to pace his eating to make it last longer. Ambiance is beautiful, service is spectacular. With two starters, two mains, a pudding, and a bottle of prosecco, our bill was just over £80 - for the quality, we'd gladly pay that again in a heartbeat. I'd very happily come back to Lacock every time I'm back in England just to eat here.

If I had to imagine a bed and breakfast in the English country side, this would be it. The hotel is organized with a main house (living room, check in, dining room) and separate living quarters surrounding the house. My cousin booked two rooms for us and we had the entire second floor to a English country house all to ourselves. The name was really cute too. I think our rooms were called Chaucer and Shakespeare? Rooms were spacious. We had a comfortable bed, big bathroom. Tub and shower. We had free tea and coffee in the room and a small tv (w/ cable). The windows opened out (no screen) and we had a view of the green landscape surrounding the property. The room was also very well heated. Which was good, as the nights were quite chilly in September. We dined twice in the main house. Once for dinner and also for breakfast. Dinner was really good! Breakfast was good too. We could order a full English breakfast off the menu. And we also had unlimited fruit, cereal, breads and jams (LOVED fresh jam). I remember having smoked salmon w/ eggs, English toy soldiers, sausage and hot tea. So stuffed! The gardens surrounding the hotel are beautiful. Take a bit out of your day to stroll around. We found fruit trees, berry bushes and wild flowers. Very picturesque. Widbrook also has a heated pool.
