Dining in the Dark fundraising event- Art House, Glasgow…read more I've participated in a few fundraising events for charities over the years but they've all been about me doing something on my own and my papa being my supportive non-participating wingman. Dining in the Dark is more of a group experience which means that it had more of personal feel about it. In addition to this there wasn't a need to rely on sponsorship to take part, which makes the event more accessible to individuals who don't have a large fundraising network. The venue itself was centrally located in Glasgow and the staff members on duty were extremely welcoming. The bar area was cosy and the beer was reasonably priced. Before the event started there was a really vibrant and energetic buzz in the waiting area as we all psyched ourselves up for what was about to come. It was also nice to relax with a wee glass of bubbly before everything started as it helped to ease the nerves. I don't want to give too much away in case people want to try out this event for themselves, but what I can say is that the event itself was well organised. It was also fun and informative. I'll be honest I was a wee bit anxious about taking additional drinks into the dining area as clumsy is my middle name, but it was actually more manageable than I anticipated. If you're not familiar with the charity they have a website which gives some info on what they do. There's also a list of up and coming fundraising events. If you're reading this review and are still unsure about trying something new, remember "The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have" - Unknown. Overall it was a fantastic event for an amazing cause.

Pretty good stock and one of the few charity shops in the area that doesnt overcharge…read more Mostly clothing but not bad bric a brac as well Staff are pleasant and helpful and there are often disabled people given the chance to help out in the shop

I wish I could have given this store a higher rating as the prices were excellent and the layout…read morewasn't too bad, but unfortunately it is let down by the staff. The woman who served me seemed reluctant to end her conversation with a visiting friend and after ringing up my purchases and taking my money immediately went back to her conversation. Sorry, my dear, but when I buy something I expect it to be put in a bag, especially if I'm buying multiple items, and when I buy breakables I expect them to be wrapped. I do not expect to have to tell you this. When I made the observation she muttered something under her breath and summoned another volunteer to wrap and bag my purchases so she could keep on chatting. I found this incredibly rude and would have told her so if I'd been able to get a word in. The lady who did help me was polite and wrapped my breakables well, but a second member of staff should not be summoned to perform such a basic task. If you serve me, if you take my money, you damn well finish the job yourself. Had the conversation been pressing I might have understood, but it is not necessary to neglect a customer to gossip about how a mutual friend's husband is having an affair and how said friend is clueless. It's certainly not nice to talk about how a child, present in the store and scratching their scalp, has lice. There is a word for such behaviour - obnoxious. Great prices, but shoddy service. I won't be going back, but if you value bargains over service it is a place to go.
