Dining in the Dark fundraising event- Art House, Glasgow
I've participated in a few fundraising events for charities over the years but they've all been about me doing something on my own and my papa being my supportive non-participating wingman. Dining in the Dark is more of a group experience which means that it had more of personal feel about it. In addition to this there wasn't a need to rely on sponsorship to take part, which makes the event more accessible to individuals who don't have a large fundraising network.
The venue itself was centrally located in Glasgow and the staff members on duty were extremely welcoming. The bar area was cosy and the beer was reasonably priced.
Before the event started there was a really vibrant and energetic buzz in the waiting area as we all psyched ourselves up for what was about to come. It was also nice to relax with a wee glass of bubbly before everything started as it helped to ease the nerves.
I don't want to give too much away in case people want to try out this event for themselves, but what I can say is that the event itself was well organised. It was also fun and informative.
I'll be honest I was a wee bit anxious about taking additional drinks into the dining area as clumsy is my middle name, but it was actually more manageable than I anticipated.
If you're not familiar with the charity they have a website which gives some info on what they do. There's also a list of up and coming fundraising events. Overall it was a fantastic event for an amazing cause. read more
