Most of these reviews are outdated, so here's the update…read more Manhattan Campus Sophomore, Class of 2020: I can honestly say that NYIT was the worst school ever to me when I first got there, until I got involved on campus. NYIT has a very unique and welcoming environment and only those who leave in the first year miss out on all that NYIT has to offer. Things which are included in our tuition that students don't take advantage of. If I could've gone to a different college, I'm not sure I would've because NYIT took an under-prepared high school graduate and motivated her to be the best Surgeon she can be. I can say that our Financial Aid Office is filled with snakes and liars, but the key to that is simply getting a job as a Student Ambassador so you can see who to get fired and who to avoid. I missed a semester at NYIT because of the school's terrible Fin. Aid and Bursar Office, but I didn't let them stop me from pursuing my dreams in the medical field. So, for those who just go to school and then go home, of course they don't like NYIT. But ask those who are active members of their clubs and even student leaders on campus, we love it here and we take all that NYIT has to offer and we learn from it.

My son's last semester the final course he needed was dropped due to it not having a minimum of students enrolled in it. They told him sorry.... And wouldn't offer another elective to fulfill his requirement. Their solution was to come back in the fall to take it. More money. More money. Totally incompetent support. Stay away. Pick another college. Even if they dangle a partial scholarship. Both campuses have been the same experience. We tried to switch sophomore year, but had to go back to the NYC campus for the last ones. Cause....guess what most classes were virtual for mathematics majors and per my kid not acceptable for his major. Cause there was a lag in asking a question and support all around. We should have gone to the other school.

I attended AMDA with the hope of becoming a performer, but I became much more. I learned to always be prepared and to have an action for everything that I do. These skills have shaped every decision I have made over the last 9 years. 3 years ago, I returned to AMDA as a member of the administrative team. I am fortunate to be surrounded every day by hopeful, talented and eager performers, professional and dedicated co-workers, and an energy that cannot be found at other institutions. Never have I worked in an environment where everyone wants the best for you. I can honestly say that AMDA has been my family for the last 9 years - I even met my husband during my first day of orientation!

When you try to move on with your life and get a real education, nothing about their classes is transferable to any other real school so yeah, it's just really, really expensive theater camp.

Butler Library and Avery Architectural Fine Arts Library have beautiful interiors that are ideal look for a historic college library, as well as the modern style of Engineering Library. Among them, I like Lehman Social Sciences Library the most, though I rarely take SIPA courses, there is a microwave on the sixth floor of the building to heat meals, and small self-study rooms, which is very suitable for spending a whole day reviewing for exams and writing the thesis. One of the great things about the Columbia Library is that you can find almost every kind of study space here. Study on the second-floor mezzanine, study in the quaint rooms with low light, study in the small rooms like telephone booths, study on the edge of the numerous bookshelves... They have desks in almost every corner of the library, and you can always find a study atmosphere that attracts you.

Dorms look very ugly and old. Anyways, you can see stars at night when you look up on a normal night without any storm. Lots of nice greenery all around you like you're not in New York City. There's also a lot of fireflies in the bushes and grass at night. The food in the kitchen is really good. Their lunch trays are navy when I used to go there and is big enough to hold a lot of food. I came here for a business camp back when I was in high school and their facilities were really spacious to accommodate us.

They were very helpful and knowledgeable in their respective fields. Career Services staff is so helpful. BUT- Be mindful that MMC's definition of diversity is different from everyone else's. Despite their claims, it is not diverse. Athletes might not want to attend. MMC is far from an athletic school. Expect to pay thousands of dollars a year to be taught by adjunct professors whose resumes aren't long enough to actually fill a page. Unless you don't mind being told how long your guests can stay over, don't stay in the dorms. It's much cheaper to get an apartment anyway. It's the type of school that you have to take the initiative to make the best of, because no one is going to hand anything to you. Joining clubs is the best way to get an actual college experience here. You're paying for it.
