However here this is not the case, initially I was frustrated that there is no on site parking, there is no ticket booth (bit of an issue if you want to encourage people to buy tickets), nor are there any signs up to inform you of any prices or deals on confectionery. I asked and they do combo deals but since there were no prices I'm not sure if I came out with a cheaper deal or not. All this is merely an inconvenience and doesn't ultimately ruin a cinema experience, what makes the experience is the film, if you can in fact hear it that is. For the 120 minutes I attempted to watch Keira Knightly pout her way through another corseted number (don't judge me), all I could hear was the dramatic music and explosions of the next door action film. Screens that aren't sound proof, bit of a big problem... must be improved!

Our nearest city cinema is about 40 minute drive away - and about 40 miles. The cinema is located near the top of the high street - it has 1 screen!! Which does not have amazing sound or amazing screen. The decor is art decor - truly and the reception is always welcoming with a big smile. Expect to either go and be one a few to be in the cinema or prepare to book if it is a blockbuster French Lieutenant Woman et al If you are in Lyme and it is raining - go to the cinema it will be a experience that you will enjoy even if the film is no good..

when the old cinema was closed down it wasnt much of a loss to the town, it had become so behind…read morethe times that not many people visited anyway. when the suggestion to put a new cinema in the chartre hall was announced there was outrage as the charter hall was home to the much loved market. now the cinema is here and has been up and running for sometime it is obvious what a huge benefit ti is to the town. it is a very comfortable cinema with 2 screens, the smaller of the screens is especially comfortable with leather chairs and sofas and is also licensed. the films they show are all new releases and theer is a nice assortment of snacks available to buy from the kiosk. price wise th ecarlton is aslo cheaper than going to a big multiplex too :)

Good selection of refreshments; clean toilet facilities. Shows a variety of mainstream movies on general release, with clever timetabling so that there's a good selection of films throughout the week. Recommend prebooking at busy times, esp in holidays as it can get very busy. The car park can also be crowded, so worth sharing a car if you can. VERY pleased to have a local cinema back again. The inside of theatre is spacious and very clean. Although the prices of tickets have now started creeping up and it is the major problem that upsets me but me and my hubby often go and see the movies when there are some offers around. We also make use of student discount which is really a good method of reducing the ticket prices and helps lowering of ticket prices.
