I didn't even schedule a massage, it's just to cancel the monthly payments! She even told me that if I didn't get the "cancelation paperwork" in soon that I would be billed again! Unprofessional practice with a revolving door of employees. Where do I start; I had a massage membership and had enjoyed few massages there until I realized the travel from Everett was not worth it- and cancelled my membership (in person) at the beginning for 2021. And all was good. Then few months later, my credit card is being charged again: I had some accumulated massages so I when I went in the following week, I cancelled it again. Be aware- Do not put a credit card on file. Secondly: You find a masseuse- you build rapport. They know your history and work in getting to the root of the problem, only to have them leave the practice. You aren't notified until you realize you can't book them any longer. Which means, in a membership- likely your credit card has been charged. So you find another masseuse (maybe reluctantly) only to have his schedule booked (or at least his availability not open) for months. So you resort to a third (in my case final) masseuse. Weeks in advance, you look forward to it- the day comes, you live 1.5 hours from the office. You start driving there, get half way only to be told that your masseuse called in sick and my appointment is cancelled. You're offered a pitiful "discount" and a 4th masseuse at an even further office (Lynden). You reach out to the owner, and lead chiropractor Todd both via phone call, and email to only be told that they will not offer any refunds on the 4+ massages I've already paid for. Get told that I won't be charged if my masseuse cancels (but reading these other reviews, says differently) and that there's nothing he will do. So if you like to flush money down the toilet than this is the perfect place for you. Todd informed me in email, that if you say your sick- they won't charge you for the appointment (but Im not sure he's telling the full truth) should you want to cancel on them, extremely late notice like they did on me. If you don't mind a new masseuse each time, than this is the place for you. and if you like having your credit card on file- to be charged at random than you will certanily like this place. Under unfortunate circumstances (car accident), I was advised to get treatment by way of massage therapy and chiropractic care to assist in my recovery. As a frequent visitor to the Barkley district, I decided to give this spot a try - and I am so glad that I did. I first would like to recognize Matt, my massage therapist. If it is possible to be both a wizard and a magician in his industry, he is that person. I went from hobbling around in life with an injured hip, to once again feeling spry and ready to do the splits (which I cannot do btw). He is educated, meticulous, thoughtful, and kind - and that is all on top of being the legitimate best massage therapist I have ever been to. I also have to speak about Dr. Luther. I haven't had many massages in the Bellingham area, but have already decided that I'll be a regular here. I bought a Groupon, which only saves you about $2 if you're a new client or a monthly member. At $67 I decided this was worth a try. The facility is clean and relaxing. The receptionist was helpful and able to answer any questions that I had regarding monthly massages. My hour long relaxation massage was with Cody. He performed one of the best massages that I've ever received. Cody is friendly, has a heavy hand, and really knows what he's doing. He was able to identify tight areas and instruct me in a few stretches to perform independently. Following this first visit, I committed to a monthly massage without hesitation. Location was easy to find and the reception was warm and friendly. Therapist was professional and knowledgeable and used different modalities for my massage. Okay. I know this place is new but... are you ready.... Reception.. cold.. no personality. Check in, fill out paperwork and wait. Nothing to look at, nothing to read. Massage.. therapist did not pay attention to what was needed. Sheet I filled out indicated areas that need work..ignored... did the standard full body massage. Now, the two stars is because the therapist was good at the massage, she just needed to listen to what I wanted and not what was the standard. And every massage place knows to provide water post massage.. I didn't even see masseuse afterwards..For the price I paid, for what is available in Bellingham, get your back adjusted but try someplace else for the massage. They have a ways to go to make this place somewhere people would want to return to. I wish them luck. read more

I'm conflicted about how many stars to give. The massage in and of itself was totally fine. I wish she'd listened a little more when I explained where I wanted extra attention. But she was really strong and did a good job overall. However, I booked a 90-minute session and was massaged for only 70 minutes. She started 10 minutes late and finished 10 minutes early. I commented at reception, and they did give me $10 off, but it seems like I should have gotten a deeper discount considering the overall cost and the fact that the massage was 20 minutes short. When I commented, in addition to offering the discount, reception did advise me that they build into every appointment 10 minutes of non-table time for changing. I wish I'd known that ahead of time. I work hard for my $$$ and this was a special treat. I expected the 90 minutes of treatment that I booked. My sis has worked in the industry for over 20 years and I ran this all by her. She's never heard of a client having to pay to change their clothes. Her words: "a 90-minute massage is 90 minutes". So that makes me feel less bad about feeling disappointed and short-changed. So I guess if you want a decent massage, sure go to these folks, but don't expect to be on the table for the full time you booked. Next time I'm going somewhere where you get what you pay for time-wise. You probably should too. read more

I went to Barkley for massage therapy for some rather uncomfortable sciatica. My therapist, Britt, conducted an interview to understand my history. She also spent time explaining different possible causes and how she would go about determining which was relevant to my case. She then went on to probe pain points on my back, calves and thighs. I injured my back on a Saturday and was able to schedule an online appointment for Sunday with Cody. Upon arrival I was greeted by the receptionist with a smile and she was very friendly. Cody took me the room explained everything and reviewed my areas of pain. During the massage Cody was excellent at explaining the techniques and also the stretches completed to help with the pain. Awesome new massage/chiro in Barkley! I had a deep tissue massage with Mel - it was excellent. I'm not usually a fan of deep tissue, but I thought it was needed due to some pain. Anyway, Mel was kind, listened to my concerns, listened to my muscles while she worked on loosening them, and overall was respectful and professional. 5 stars for the massage. 0 stars for the front desk. The man at the front desk should write a book called "how to lose future revenue in 5 seconds." Firstly, the woman I spoke to on the phone was nothing but helpful and pleasant. I made an appointment under my name, for my partner, this was explained on the phone. We walked in, we said both names, the man repeatedly asked me for the "appointment name" and when I answered with my partners name he looked perplexed and said "you know this is Barkley Massage and chiropractic, right?" "Are you sure your at the right place?" With an incredibly condescending tone. After figuring out the appointment stuff came the payment. I had forgotten that I had already paid ahead of time, and I stood at the desk with my credit card in hand for 40 seconds before the man said "what do you want me to do with that?" Like.... take my money? Oh sorry I forgot I already paid you... could you say that in a more rude way? Again, this man made me feel so fricking stupid for no reason.
