Requested service for a water softener system. My dry bin was retaining water. They arrived and…read moredidn't seem to know what was causing the issue and asked for the manual, which I provided. They upsold me to service my heater while I was there, which I agreed to and they left. Charged me $400 and was there less than 2 hours total. Didn't even change the filter in my furnace, even though I had a stack of them. After they left, I continued to have the same exact issue with my water softener except now it was incessantly beeping. I called them and they said the beeping was because they caused it to, and told me to just hit the "regen" button, which only temporarily stopped the beeping. They essentially shrugged and said there wasn't much they could do, because they didn't have the "other manual" (no idea), and that the system either needed to be emptied out and cleaned (which, I feel is something that should have been troubleshooted the first time) or replaced. I feel like they didn't know how anything about this system, but instead of admitting it and allowing me to call someone else, they messed with it, made it worse and charged me.

Excellent, caring, and affordable. Mark Legsdin Plumbing Inc was referred to us by ACE…read moreHardware/Rocky's in New London, thank God. Mark came right out to help my 89-year old mother and 65-year old autistic brother and me with our furnace RIGHT AWAY, even in busy mid-October, and even though he has other customers who also need him. Mark said it could be fixed and so he did that for them a.s.a.p. and affordably. (The other company before him said we needed a whole new furnace @ $17K - Mark said it had good parts and just needed some parts replaced). He's good at communicating throughout the process, too. We were not left hanging! He earned this all-star review with his professionalism and SKILL, by being personable, and caring to us in need. Get THIS plumber. I'm so glad we did. ~ The Belle Isles of New London

Had Bubs out to fix two small leaks and prime our well pump. My mistake was letting them start…read morewithout asking for their rate or an estimate. Getting water running again was our priority but he suggested starting on the leaks. Not long after beginning, Bub's father told me they couldn't attach their fitting to the well line because water was coming through; realizing my well line is gravity-fed after beginning. I had to pull the well line above the water level myself before they could install a shut-off valve. My well cover is about 300lbs and the line is 8ft down. I'm not sure what their plan would've been if I was not there. After saying the water was flowing again, they later told me my pump was done for and not to run it. They quoted $925 for a new pump, not including labor. With two hours of labor, the bill also came to $925 and my family was no closer to having running water. The materials installed were six feet of copper pipe, several compression fittings, a shut off valve, and a pipe hanger. I called another plumber afterward, who knew right away (just from a phone call) that my pump was fine. He had it running smoothly in minutes by clearing a port of sediment and then adjusting the pressure switch. Bub talked a lot about his experience and showed up with help but needed me to find a way to stop the water in order to address the first leak and then either missed or ignored the step that would've gotten my pump working. Their website claims they're transparent and budget-friendly, but I wasn't told his extreme rate upfront, the bill wasn't itemized (still waiting 9 days after he confirmed he would), and I nearly paid for an unnecessary pump replacement. Leaving 2 stars because the copper work itself was solid, but charging $250 per hour for six feet of easily accessible pipe work feels unreasonable. Being given the wrong diagnosis on the pump was unacceptable and raises concerns about their expertise or honesty.

Ray was recommended by our contractor. He evaluated the spare, determined that there was nothing wrong with it and installed it for a very reasonable price. It's better than the original. Then, I was putting heat tape on the piping and I must've been too rough with the pipes and something started to leak. I couldn't be there. I left it so that Ray could get in. He fixed the leak quickly. I told him I would come up that weekend to pay him and he asked me if I wanted him to turn up the heat because it was very cold. Great plumber! Great guy!
