A small portion of the paved loop lines up with Railroad Rd so it can be a little unnerving as well as loud walking close to 55+ mph traffic if it is busy. There is ample parking. Trash cans and doggy bag stations are available, although no one seems to really clean up after their dogs. Two baseball fields and basketball courts are open to the public. They are kind of old looking but satisfactory. There are large grassy areas for soccer, picnics, and so on. There's a playground for the kiddies. It is popping during the weekend as well as during the early/evening times with walkers, runners, or groups playing soccer. Off peak daily hours are just plain odd to say the least. There are some really sketchy characters hanging out near or in their cars during the day that can make you feel uneasy. My advice is to just go during high peak hours.

The dog park is right next to the basketball courts (to the left). This is an okay dog park with a obstacle course for dogs (last time I was there the pole for jumping was missing though). The dog park only has a few trees and the landscaping is only rocks. There isn't any seating for people though unless you sit on the ramp. If you're used to the dog park on the Westside you won't be impressed by this one; but if you're from a section of town where there isn't a dog park nearby, anything is better than nothing. Some owners bring dogs who aren't exactly friendly, but they're always quick to leave...don't feel bad, if your dog is not friendly you shouldn't be bringing it to a dog park. The park stays pretty clean most days. Just don't forget to bring water and a dish for your dog.

I usually park on the other side of the Parade Field, walk the parade field with my dogs and when I see the dog park midway thru I stop and let my furry loved ones have fun inside the dog park to later walk back to our vehicle. The park consists of 2, one for big dogs and one for smaller dogs. Dog waste bags are always available. Trash can and plenty of fire hydrants. The park is mid size. You may also park at the soldier/welcome center and walk to the park because it doesn't have its own parking lot.
