I paid for 6 months of membership with this company as I have a home based business and was excited for guidance on how I could be more effective with my tax strategy. I was charged for a phone call that I was told was included in my membership. I explained that I was told (and have email evidence to prove it) that the call was complementary and part of what I had already paid for in my fees. Once I was charged I repeatedly asked them to reimburse me. They would only reimburse me half of the phone call fee (which by the way was 10 minutes long). Much of the information I got from otb was incorrect and misleading once I verified it with another cpa. We then experienced tax fraud and to cover my bases I emailed to make sure my files with them had been shredded as I was no longer a client. Here is the email correspondence in order.

The personal attention and expert handling of my audit was impressive. The above was posted as my initial Google review for Henderson Accounting. Fast forward to January 30, 2017. I received a letter from Wyatt Henderson stating that his firm was disengaging its services from our personal and business accounting effective December 31, 2016. I wrote an email to ask why, and his response was that our business wasn't profitable enough for his firm to maintain, since they had "8 new clients waiting to hear if we will take them on." and they were "running at 110% of capacity" Wyatt, perhaps a 90 day advance notice would be a much more professional way to handle future "disengagements". Now I'm hustling to find a new accounting firm at the worst possible time on the tax calendar, not to mention a new payroll provider. New clients considering Henderson Accounting beware. Edit: The owner response on Google was less than truthful; here's his actual quote from the "disengagement" email: "every year I go thru my client list and use the 80/20 rule to carve out those clients to that I need to examine for profitability, realization rate and overall fit within my firm. Eastside Chiropractic did not hit our realization rate threshold for 2016. Realization is the amount of total revenue realized from a client in a year divided by the total time committed to that client. Any client that does not meet the established dollar per hour threshold is identified for either disengagement or a rate increase. Since we are running at 110% capacity and I have 8 new clients waiting to hear if we will take them on, I decided it was best to disengage. This is purely a business decision and not personal. We have a set amount time available each week to service clients and I must maximize the dollars per hour realized." New clients beware of this practitioner.

Unfortunately, I had a horrific experience with Heather. I hired Burton's Bookkeeping to pay my…read moresales tax. I have never owned a small business before so I had no idea how to do the sales tax. Since I needed Heather's help quickly, I signed the contract while in my car to get her started. Even though we discussed in depth that taxes was why she was hired, her contract did not cover that, but the necessity to get her started was larger than messing with the contract (big mistake). I worked with Heather for 6-months where she walked me through paying sales tax. My Accountant came on board in October. They started going through Heather's work and found a huge amount of mistakes. The net of it was that I owed an additional $15,000 in sales taxes and $5,000 in late fees. As you can image I was blown away and being a new small business was very hurt by paying that since it was a surprise. When I spoke with Heather about this issue, she told me she doesn't do taxes. She offered to pay me back for half a month of her service, which I have to say is also overpriced. $500/month for the amount of work that was done is ridiculous! My accountants bookkeeper is only charging me $300/month and doing much more work....accurately. This experience was awful and a very rough way to being a new business. Be warned and think twice before jumping on board with Burton's Bookkeeping.
