First let me start off by saying Doug and his crew are amazing! We had 400 ft.² of tile to remove because we were getting new laminate floors put in. My husband removed all of the tile and the remaining thin set was so thick it was impossible for us to get out. I called Doug and he was really prompt and super friendly and gave me a great price. He came by within a couple days with his crew and removed all of the thin set completely dust free. It was like magic!!! I could not believe that there wasn't any dust in the house considering how thick the thin set was. He removed three 60 pound bags of dust from the house and the floor was perfect. No thin set left over supersmooth superflat ready for floors to be installed. I could not be happier with his work and his company. I'm in the process of installing hardwood floors in my house. Upon inspection of the concrete slab, we discovered that the whole house was once covered in tile. I was referred to Doug at Bare Knuckle to remove all the old thin set. Doug came in with one helper and within four hours cleared out around 800 sq ft. with minimal impact to myself or my belongings. The equipment they use is top of the line and connected to a vac system with hepa filters to decrease the dust created. During this process I didn't see any airborne dust or smell any. Afterwards they came trough and vacuumed any remaining dust on the floor. Doug took his time and answered all questions that I had. Including the process, filtration system, and disposal of the dust. I'm a Do-It-Yourself kind of guy so when it came to doing a small addition to our home, NO problem. Well that project kept expanding and it became a whole house make over, this means taking out the carpet and tile. Carpet no problem, tile, well heck I'll look that up on U-Tube and see what the best way is to remove that. There's some really good U-Tube videos that make it look easy. Well maybe if the house wasn't lived in. I went and rented the standard cement grinder to help remove the thin set from popping the tiles and got to work. WHAT a MESS! Our house looked like it had been vacant for centuries and been through some dust storms. Well if that wasn't enough we still had one big hurdle and that was the pad we poured was a bit higher than the existing pad. What that meant is we needed a larger grinder, besides I still had more tile to remove that wasn't expected till wife said otherwise. Okay no problem I'll rent one of those machines that they show on U-Tube with a vacuum and do it myself. Well after being disappointed that you can not rent the vacuums that keep it dust free I began to have second thoughts. What if I error and grind too much then what? So I began a search for a company that grinds(removes thin set) floors. That was a problem into it's self, what do you look under. Any way I came across Bare Knuckles, Doug came out explained the process and the cost. I was in. I am so pleased with their workmanship and thoroughness. Many residential customers have contractors come in to do a project and the financial aspect is usually what leads the direction in who one chooses to do the work. From personal experience and having run demo and installations crews for high end custom homes and residential remodels, I can assure you NOT all companies or crew hands are the same!!
