Bare Bones Pizza serve wood fired pizzas from the back of their Citroen Relay van at street events. They're based in Birmingham, so locals are lucky enough to see them featured regularly at events. Their pizzas are 10" Neapolitan style and are prepared fresh to order.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to sample their pizzas twice this week. Firstly at Sarehole Mill on Sunday, then again at Yelpovision on Tuesday. On Sunday I had a meaty pizza and on Tuesday I had a margherita; both were fantastic! I'm really not a fan of stodgy deep pan pizzas, so I was very pleased with their wood fired hand stretched Neapolitan bases, which were made and cooked to perfection.
They're definitely of a size to be one pizza per person (four slices), although we did have one shared between four five-year-olds on Sunday. They cost around £6.00-£8.50 each, although I think the prices may vary depending on what event they are at. Their van is fully stocked with Pip's Hot Sauce - a locally produced hot sauce that you must try if you like a bit of heat!
I will certainly visit their van again, next time I see it pulled up. read more
