The oldest continuously operating theater in New York State The theater is comfortable and the sound is good. The restrooms are located one floor down. They are small but clean. The ushers are helpful. There is street parking in the area. read more

I went to see a comedian here a few weeks ago and had a really nice time! All of the staff I spoke to were incredibly friendly, from the bartender to the ushers. They all seemed as though they truly enjoyed being there. I purchased a drink prior to the show (which tasted amazing!), but just know you can't bring food or beverages in to the theater. I arrived early enough to have time to sip before the show started, but I did want to take my drink in with me and enjoy throughout the evening. read more

First time visiting this historic opera house for a Saturday matinee. Place was clean. The ushers and other workers were all very welcoming and friendly. Neighborhood appeared a bit sketchy. read more

I love the Bardavon! It's beautiful, and the shows are awesome! However, accessibility is a concern, particularly in regard to the restroom. They have just one restroom for people with disabilities who cannot climb a lot of stairs--and there are A LOT of stairs! And since the intermission time is limited, people with disabilities who also need to reach a restroom quickly may have issues!!! Also, you cannot have a walker close to your seat, so someone has to take it out to the lobby for you, and then bring it back, and they might bring you the wrong walker! Other than that, it's a great place to go. PLEASE Bardavon, address this issue. I really would appreciate it. read more

First visit ever to this historic theater,a jewel in Poughkeepsie NY.this theater seats 944 people and this historic day I didn't see an empty seat for the first African American opera written by an African-American. "Fire Shut up in my Bones" written by Terence Blanchard. It was televised Live from The Metropolitan opera house ,Lincoln Center in New York City. This Opera House has a very nice concession stand, however signs all over say NO FOOD IN THEATER. Bathrooms male and female are located downstairs. The seats were surprisingly roomy,I was able to stretch my legs out rather comfortably. Plenty of parking all over this area and surprisingly you can actually park in front of the theater from one end of the street to the other end. Even public parking garage was free (it was a Saturday however). All in all great experience here. Will likely take in another show here in the future. read more

Holy Cow! Profile much? It was my first time here and me and a friend were profiled at a "free" dance concert for the college we work at. We did have a teachable moment with the young chap and his manager. All o can say is bring your privilege and your white friends. read more

Took in Banditos and St Paul & The Broken Bones at this historic venue. Great acoustics, good sight lines, plenty of foot room, comfortable seating and two great acts made this a fun evening at a reasonable price. read more

Established in 1869.

Incorporated in 1976, the Bardavon 1869 Opera House, Inc. (the Bardavon) is a New York State nonprofit corporation that owns and operates two historic theaters and the region's premiere orchestra, the Hudson Valley Philharmonic (the HVP). Our 944-seat namesake theater in Poughkeepsie is the oldest continuously operating theater in the state, one of the oldest in the country, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 1510-seat Ulster Performing Arts Center (UPAC) is a National Register property built in Kingston in 1927. UPAC was merged into the Bardavon's corporate structure in 2007. The Bardavon acquired the HVP in 1999.

Bathrooms downstairs were actually quite clean but damn those steps to get down are dizzying and the top step is def bigger than the rest so watch yo self. Sadly I do not think the acoustics in this venue are that great. Out of the three bands I could not make out ONE lyric when i was standing by the bar and its not like it's that massive or I was far away. It's something they absolutely need to work on bc otherwise what is the point of seeing a band play if you can't even hear them?

I took the elevator down and they just took the group on the stairs and took off without waiting. So I had to leave. I took the issue to admissions and they had nothing to say. If you have any mobility needs don't go here. Nope! Came here for a campus visit and the guide mumbled something and then took the group off at a fast pace, to climb three (or four) flights to the lecture room. Zero access for people with disabilities. I raised with them (as it was not accessible for us) and the first question asked was "did you fill out the form for people with disabilities?" Yes we did. But that is all you got? They say in other reviews that this college is too "woke." How about not woke enough?

Upon coming in, you will be guided by the workers on where to park. The parking lot is on a field of grass right in front of the entrance. Prices on the bags vary depending on whether you're apple picking, grape picking, or flower picking; as well as the size of the bags. This orchard consists of different types of activities such as fruit picking, hay rides, dining, drinking, playground for kids, and a small animal farm. They have plenty of drink options like, beer, wine, cider, and non alcoholic beverages. Their cafe menu is limited, but they have a food truck if you want more options. My friends and I ordered... 1. Black Cherry hard cider on tap: This was good; not too sweet and not too strong in terms of alcohol taste. Rate 7/10. 2. Chicken tenders w/fries: The tenders and were fries were average; it tasted like your classic tenders and fries, nothing special. Rate 6/10. 3. Truffle Fries: These were yummy! They had a strong truffle taste which was delicious. Rate 8.5/10. 4. Beef Empanadas: This included 2 empanadas and they both were very tasty! The flavor was great, and the breading was super crispy! Huge place and great to bring the kids…read more We went for strawberry picking for Father's Day. I like that you only pay for what you pick. No entrance fee per person and no parking fee (Unlike many other farms). The downside was that there were not many strawberries. The ones we did pick were already wilting within 24hours. I think we caught the end of picking season. The farm is about 1/4 mile down from the market /cafe/brewery. The market is cute and has a lot of pantry items as well as fresh produce. They also serve lunch (chicken sandwich, etc). I was surprised at how expensive everything was. It was $18 for the chicken sandwich. It was well fried and came with a good portion of salad. However, the chicken itself was very small. It also took 20 min to be served. Another option is the airstream in the back. They were selling hot dogs. They had some local dogs that were pretty tasty. The brewery on premise was great. They had a play area to keep the kids occupied, tables/chairs and the World Cup was on. Can't really get better than that. There is also a goat pen in the back of the market. You can pay for some food and the kids can feed the goats. A lot of places charge you just to see the goats. When we arrived, on June 17, 2026, prime season for strawberries and snap peas, we were greated by a friendly young woman named Erin, who operated the admission booth. She provided us with two small containers for the snap peas and two larger for the strawberries and explained that we can pick whatever we want, and only pay for what we harvest. We acquired some beautifully fresh snap peas and freshly sweet strawberries. We visited the store, which offered typical farm store goods. There was nothing overly impressive about the store, but it is worth a look. We loved this place and even though it is more than an hour away, this will be our go to place to pick your own fruits and vegetables. We are looking forward to bluberries season in early July!
