My husband recently went in for replacement lenses for his glasses. The bill after insurance should have been $150 for lenses and $75 for the exam, but they charged him $375. I called to ask why it was so much, and they told me the doctor had ordered several coatings on his lenses, and each had added to the cost. My husband wasn't aware that there would be added charges, as he just asked for lenses. He also felt like they were trying too hard to pressure him into buying new frames, even though his frames are still in great shape and he really likes them. They also scared me into buying expensive vitamins, making me feel like I was likely to have retinal degeneration because my numbers on a certain test were low. On a follow-up visit, one of the people in the office told me their numbers were also that low and it's very common. They recently told my husband that he needed the vitamins as well. I understand that they recommend them, but it felt like they put too much pressure on us to buy them from their office directly and made it uncomfortable to say no. My mom has also had "contact consultation charges" added on when she had a quick discussion with the doctor about her contacts from her previous visit not fitting well. She didn't get new contacts, just expressed concern during an exam that the contacts she previously got from them weren't working for her. They sneak in so many additional charges to bring up the bill and have a high-pressure sales approach, so we're going to find a new eye doctor.

When I called, I was told you "had other plans." ​While I shouldn't be angry, this is the second time I've made the drive on a Sunday only to find the shop unexpectedly closed. That's a significant inconvenience. ​I did, however, park in the back and noticed some items that looked fantastic--the shop seems incredibly well-stocked with antiques, which is a huge plus. The items inside and the things in the yard suggest a great selection. I appreciate that, but the unreliability of your hours makes me hesitant to try a third time. Cant comment on the value, as nothing i saw had prices. So cant speak of the value. Maybe, maybe not next time?
