well went there with Friend and her Families on Jan18,2026 night time. The restaurant is very nice very clean. That night kind a quiet. We order a grill chicken ,There is Salad, Fries and very nice rice and it is not salty. The chicken which my order was a bit burn and had burn taste and because I was hungry i rather just eat it , My honest opinion it is not tasty for me but the serving and the size of chicken was big. I can not complain about the size of the chicken The sauce that they put on the Chicken it is kind a sour and it is not for me I rather had a grill Chicken a bit sweetness but my friend really enjoy their food read more

A meal at Barcelos Flame Grilled Chicken was enjoyed with friends. The establishment is located at 7515 Market Crossing #140, Burnaby, BC V5J 0A3. A combo meal consisting of double chicken legs, one side, and soda is available for $17. Our selections included the veri peri chicken legs combo with Caesar salad and coke; the chicken exhibited a slight spiciness but was fresh, hot, and juicy. The Caesar salad featured a substantial amount of dressing. The super peri chicken legs paired with peri fries and ice tea were also a highlight, with the peri fries being especially flavorful. Furthermore, the chicken Caesar wrap with Caesar salad contained a multitude of tasty ingredients. It is also worth noting that the restaurant provides complimentary refills on soda drinks. The service was characterized by its speed and friendliness. read more

My friend and I have enjoyed many Nando's meals together but have stopped going with the prices going up but the size of the chickens shrinking. I noticed there was both a Nando and Barcelo's location nearby my home so we decided to give Barcelo's a try. We got there and the restaurant was pretty empty with our choice of table. We were unsure whether we order up front or a server comes to take our order but a server came shortly to get us drinks and our order. We decided to get the Half pack which comes with half a chicken, 2 chicken kebabs, 4 Whole Wings, and 2 Regular Sides. We ordered the rice and corn as our sides. The chicken were a decent portion and was marinated in a nice sauce but the side peri peri sauce at Barcelo's isn't as good as Nando's. Kebabs were juicy and the wings were nice, big, and juicy. We left full and I had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. For $38.99, it was pretty reasonably priced to feed 2 people plus leftovers. Both my friend and I would definitely go again! read more

Barcelos Flame Grilled Chicken is basically another version of Nandos Chicken. Flavors are similar and even sauces and menu items are similar. The decor are quite similar and they used the orange color theme. I ordered half a chicken (prego flavor) with a side of coleslaw. The flavor was tasty but I still prefer Nandos over Barcelos. In terms of the size of the chicken, it was rather small. I am not a big eater and I would say half a chicken plus the coleslaw is not enough for me. I would probably have to eat the entire whole chicken plus a side and maybe I would be full. Service is a hit and miss. When I arrived lots of tables were left dirty. I feel like they were very short staffed with only 2 people working in the front at such a big restaurant. The place was very empty even during prime time. Free parking is available outside read more

We came early, shortly after the doors opened. So we did not have to wait too long for our food. Service was friendly and the staff came over to check on us several times. My friend commented that was the first time he encountered that, he likened it to a "fast food place" with service. Like Nando's, you order and pay for the food at the counter. Get your number and find a table. Food will be brought to you when ready. I had the Peri #2 plate which came with 1/4 chicken, a kebab and 2 wings. I had the corn and rice as sides. It was so good. The chicken was juicy and tender. The rice was ok, but I jazzed it up with the tangy lemon sauce. The corn was sweet. I had my chicken mild peri, but I mixed the supa peri and tangy lemon sauces on the side and dipped the chicken in it. Yums. I will be back now that I know the food is good. I find it way better than Nando's now (at least the outlets in Metrotown food court and the one on Kingsway). read more

Ordered a Very Peri Chicken burger with peri fries for lunch. today. Ate half the burger and accidentally turned the burger over to find the bun was moldy on the underside. Explains why the bun was hard and tasted stale. Sent an email to Dale at Barcelo's to call me but to no avail (unbelievable). Had to insist to speak with the restaurant franchisee who blamed GFS for sending them moldy stale buns which they deliver each Thursday ... 5 days old which I question and claimed that mine was the only one with mold on it. Disgusting is half of it and to serve with NO QUALITY CONTROL in the KITCHEN is scary and 2 other customers waiting to be seated left!!! read more

First time here and we'll definitely be back again. Excellent food, fast service, and friendly staff. I liked the layout and cozy ambiance the restaurant provided--soft warm lighting, private booths, music that wasn't too loud, and very clean. The only small thing they missed that I asked for was two large ice waters. Otherwise, we were very pleased overall. read more

Another place located at Market Crossing...A lot of restaurants in here i am close to trying all of them...soon.... i love this gig Portuguese and South African cuisine combined and when you are inside its like you are in a Safari adventure, The interior is African inspired theme, i am loving it, so cool and so nice to have pictures. I had the peri plane #2 includes 1/4 chicken leg, 2 whole wings, 1 kebab with 2 sides, for the side dish i had peri fries and Portuguese salad. Only medium spicy but it feels like i am chewing a red chili . Excellent service and observes covid-19 precaution plus contact tracing...kudos to you guys...there was this poster that really made me smile a chicken that says please keep your distance...Loved it. Excellent service crews are wearing masks and sanitizer is displayed by the entrance, I believed this is a family restaurant specializing in a hot grilled chicken dishes..great meals, sandwiches, and dishes focusing on Portuguese cuisines. I love spicy foods so i enjoyed my meal, huge serving, the only thing is my peri fries, its kinda bitter, well not so sure maybe the spices is reacting on the potatoes. a bit salty as well, otherwise all good. big place maybe can house more than 50 clientele in one time. Very peaceful inside the lighting is soft and relaxing and with those wall painted safaried inspired mmmmm feels good. Good for family and kids friendly, free parking and wifi powered by the giants telephone company is free, slow but free. Accept cash, credit and debit, If i am not mistaken they serves alcohol beverages. Not bad to enjoy a flame grilled chicken read more

They're open again for dining!! .......BUT for a limited number of people to enforce physical distancing. Nevertheless, the food is still very much delicious. The changes to the dining in experience are the limited space for dining in, there are no sauce/bottles at the tables (instead they serve in take out dip containers & ketchup packets) & I think I was told no self-serve drinks? But either way I ordered bottled drinks & drinking glasses. There was a little bit of an altercation between my friend & the cashier/server, but they were able to talk it out & settle things on a good note. I really appreciate that the cashier/server was able to humbly accept the constructive criticism for her self-reflection & self improvement. She was able to serve & tend to us on good terms. For the professional service & quality of food, I'm giving 4 stars. read more

I didn't expect this sweetness when I ordered chicken, but the @barceloscanada 's service was unbelievably sweet. Food Review: While the delivery did come lukewarm, the sauce, seasoning and cooking of the chicken was spot on. I guarantee if I had eaten in, it would've been 10x better. Normally I am a sucker for some good fries, these fries were no exception; however, the best side was rice. It's cooked with a mixture of bloomed spices and peppers/jalapeños to pair with the sumptuous sauces of the chicken as to not overpower the whole meal. This is truly a hidden gem restaurant, for ~$30 we got 3 sides and a whole chicken, extra sauces and perfect service. I think @barceloscanada is our new go to Portuguese Chicken restaurant. Quality for Price: Taste: Service: Thank you @barceloscanada for having us for lunch . read more

The one star above is for the two waitresses who were very helpful through the whole situation. I was here with my two daughters (5 yrs old and 9 months old) for lunch. We went to the washroom and were locked in because the lock was broken. I called the store to let them know. The waitress asked for my phone number saying that the manager will call me back to teach me how to open the stuck door. The manager never called me back. However, the waitresses came to the door to try to help me. I asked them to call the fire department. After 20 minutes the fire department came and broke the lock with an axe. We never met the manager, even when we asked him to come out for an apology. I was never able to speak with the manager. Stay away from this establishment read more

Pretty decent chicken. Came here with family today and we decided to split a Supremo Platter (26.99) with some extra sides. The whole chicken that we got was marinated beautifully with a sauce that was part tangy and part sweet. The skin and bits of the wings had nice grilled flavourings to them. The meat itself was quite moist, though I found the chicken to be a bit on the smaller side. Each Supremo Platter comes with your choice of a large side (for us, it was Large Peri Fries, and either Garlic Toast or Portugese Buns (we chose Garlic Toast). The Peri fries were hot, crispy, and ever so lightly seasoned. They went well with the little plastic packets of Chipotle Mayo sauce provided as well as the ever delectable Tangy Lemon sauce at every table. Seriously...I could slather that sauce on anything, it's so tasty! The Large Garden Salad (6.29) was fresh, crisp, and had a decent amount of seeds on it. The dressing was a very light Vinaigrette, and was a nice way to balance out all of the meat consumed. The Garlic Toast had a nice crunchy and garlic flavouring on the top, while surprisingly, the bottom was still fluffy and airy, as if the buns had just been baked! Some of the best garlic toast I've ever had. The Double Kebabs (8.29), while possessing strong lemony flavours and juiciness, were a bit on the small side for the price. The service was terrific though! The staff member that helped us, Randall, was very friendly and accommodating. We were a bit indecisive in what we wanted to order, yet he carefully explained and recommended items based on our preferences! He was also quite attentive in repeatedly coming back to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Was very impressed! read more

Started out well, but has dwindled. So stingy with the fries now, and the last time I went in they were cold. The chicken is still better quality than nandos, juicy and large portioned comparably. Grilled veggies are over onioned. Overall, they are the same pricing as nandos now that they are stingy on the sides. Same same, just go to whichever one is on the side you're shopping on haha! read more

Very friendly service and environment. Food is delicious and low price. It's almost same like McDonald's, but I can enjoy more healthy food and salad here than just fast food. Chicken liver is the best ! It's tasty and spicy! read more

No more Nandos! I am impressed with this place. We did take-away and the staff (girls) are very friendly. Prices are not too expensive. The chicken and extras are really tasty. The only complaint I have is the chicken pieces are quite small, but I love the way it was prepared and the seasoning. The two sauces provided are yummy too. We'll definitely come here more often and can't wait for the horrible pseudo Greek fast food place next door disappears and something else comes in it's place. Variety is good. read more

Only gotten takeouts. The staff is friendly and the wait not too long. The food is a bit blah and uninteresting - chicken caesar wrap was very saucy, and stir-fry bland. Customize your meal as you can pick the level of spiciness. read more

We had an amazing experience there! The manager Surjit was fantastic and the food was great! Will definitely come back for more.

I saw this reviewed on the front page of Yelp on January 30th and book marked it for future reference. This place is actually close to my place and close the the Michael's craft store that I go to. Because there isn't a Nando's close to me this place was the best closest thing. I really really like the chicken. There was a lot of flavor and the chicken was nice and well prepared. They had a reasonable selection of sides. I would advise to bring some napkins. It's a good thing that I live close by 'cause the fregrance filled my car and teased my senses. read more

The website menu has a picture of the Peri Burger with all the trimmings. It looks very appealing. I ordered through delivery so I did not see the order until it arrived. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered there was no cheese or onions in my burger. I checked the ingredients listed on the website and they are not mentioned. Why then are they in the photograph? Very misleading and very disappointing. read more

Chicken dish mentioned as Tuesday's special was yummy. Really like the sauce. Order came early.

Amazing food and staff. This place became my go to restaurant for good food. Over all the place is clean and organized. The food is quick to get and very tasty. The atmosphere is friendly, it's like a mix of a pub (no bar but TVs ON showing games) with a nice restaurant touch. Family friendly. read more

A better choice than the other chicken place IMHO. I find that the chicken isn't as dry and has better flavour. Still a bit expensive for chicken, but not too bad. Nice decor and comfortable. Would recommend. read more

I love this place. I work near by and eat here 2-3 times a week. The double (leg and thigh) with mash potatoes is where its at. The chicken here is always perfect, kind of trips me out that I've never had a bad meal here. The sauce is killr too. Word of advise, if you get super peri... get an extra beer. Shit is spicy. The staff here are rad too. Polite and good service. I have got a bunch of the crew I work with hooked on this joint. read more

Two months ago we visited your restaurant - good food good service. A good experience. Two days ago, we again came for supper, 5:30 - 6:00, ordered chicken, salad, rice, pop and water. My first piece of chicken was quite dry, not great, second piece more moist. Salad and rice, okay - water ordered twice- never came. I came home, - 4 hours later - terrible stomach pains and cramps, many trips to the washroom from 10:00 pm to 1:00 am. Next day still not quite recovered. Does this not describe food poisoning?? A downer for sure. And -Absolutely- NO more meals there - EVER!! read more

Things that are nice: the store facade. Things that are not so nice: the chicken is dry and seems like it sits in a heater basket for far too long. The fact that they charge extra for yam fry sauce is saddening/annoying. The food portions are disappointing at the price point they have chosen. The amount of dry chicken they provide is also disappointing its called a chicken wrap, not a cabbage wrap for a reason. They maybe gave me 4oz of chicken for my chicken wrap when my expectation would be closer to 6 or 8 oz of chicken for the price point they sold it at. I wouldn't go back, its overpriced mediocrity. read more

Chicken was dry and too thin it was swimming in the pita- but not in sauce just space and lettuce. Staff was nice except our food came minutes apart. The tiny side salad was amazing respectably. Generally overpriced for the amount of food. Try Nandos! read more

This place has such a big roomy dining area that you should stay to eat rather than to go. Prices are very reasonable. Chicken was juicy and the staff was friendly. I would probably come here more often as a regular. I forgot to ask if the pop can be refilled free of charge. If not, it will receive 1 star less, because the price for the pop is a bit on the high side. read more

Friendly staff, quick service, but I didn't really feel my chicken was very well cooked, probably cooked twice..The Greek salad was ok. Also just don't understand why they were playing LOUD pop dance RADIO in the place.. I would probably come back except for that issue. Generous servings, great periperi sauce, delicious chicken. This is a great alternative to Nandos, pretty much the same business model.

Tried the peri chicken sandwich with peri fries today for lunch. The fries were hot and fresh and had a good flavor to them. The chicken sandwich on the other hand was a bit sad though. Either the bun was too big or the chicken breast too small but you had to hunt to find the chicken. I paid for cheese to be added and they forgot to put it on the sandwich and the lettuce wasn't that fresh. One star was for the fries and the other because the food came out fairly quick but considering the chicken is supposed to be the big ticket item here it was disappointing. I can't see myself going back any time soon. read more

Seems exactly like Nando's Chicken. Nothing special going on here. Food is plain. Portions are normal. Chicken wings are the tiniest I have ever seen. Their grilled veggie sides is a oil drenched mess. Restaurant environment is spacious and clean. Not a big fan of them handing me glass cups to fill water for myself. I shouldn't have tipped when i paid up front. Seems kind of dumb now that I think about it. read more
