TLDR: Haircut: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 As a man who's been going to the same hair salon since 4th grade, I recently decided to try different places for my haircut. This has ranged from haircuts from friends with little to no haircutting background (with some not so great results) to another local barbershop in the area. However, after coming to Barber's Perspective, I may need to settle down, because I may have found my barber... Barber's Perspective is located inside the Phenix Salon Suites building, which contains a plethora of small hair salons, beauticians, barber shops inside. It's the first door to your left when you enter the building. When I came to Barber's Perspective, I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, and Jake refused to accept my regular vague request of "can I get short on the sides, and then short on top but not as short as the sides". He started to ask what I was looking for, and asked good questions like if I usually used product in my hair (this is important, because certain haircuts look much better if you use product, but also look terrible when you don't). Jake is a person that will be honest with you with what's best for you, and won't just cave in if he feels that you're not making a great decision. That is a trait you should definitely look for in a barber, and also a friend. The overall ambiance of Barber's Perspective is laid back, and Jake has TV's strategically placed in all four corners. Regardless of which side you face, you'll have something to watch if you're feeling in an anti-social mood. However, if you're feeling social, Jake is easy to talk to, and I found it effortless to chop it up with him as he chopped off my hair. All in all, I was satisfied with my cut. Jake cut my hair based upon how it was previously cut to ensure consistency, but also made modifications based upon questions he had previously asked me. Their new barber shop is located in a clean and posh shopping plaza with plentiful parking, and several things set it apart from other barbers: 1. The barber shop features one of the most comfortable seats in SoCal; one can simply sit there and take a nap 2. The little shop is comfortable with good lightening - the floor-to-ceiling window faces the parking lot Jake has been my long-time barber, and like my former barber in Irvine (too far to get to, but I did drive 45 minutes each way to get haircuts from her for many years), he is great with attention to detail. I like to defer little details to the barbers I work with, and Jake would translate my vague "this haircut is for work and cannot offend clients" instruction to a great haircut that is both sporty and appropriate for formal events. I have been getting my hair done by her since before she opened up her new shop; I usually go every other week to get my hair done. the shop charges 25 for a regular haircut but I don't mind tipping an extra five because of how nice my fades and lineups always come out to be. I've been having Jake flip me up for about 4 years now. I followed him from his old spot in Chino Hills until he opened his own spot in DB almost 2 years ago. Jake is a true professional and takes his craft seriously. He's meticulous and takes his time and even does the old school barber straight edge on the neck, face and ears! He's also great with kids as he flips up my 2 yr old son as well. That kid is a crazy MFer in that chair, but Jake is patient, cool and calming. The multiple TV's and the intimate environment also help. Jake also uses Booksy which makes booking the cut super easy. And to the guy who left that 1 Star review you're a moron.
